The app works reasonably well but is a little basic in its functionality. Some issues on iPad such as after completing a field, the ability to go back to the catalogue is not there till you open another field. It would also be useful to be able to hide some fields that are never used. In addition, the following would be useful: * Being able to see log entries against the orchid * Being able to sync across 2 devices. *Being able to copy a record and amend to save having to add in the exact same detail for a Paph or Cattleya, for example, each time you log a new orchid * A search function on genus, grex, etc rather than having to scroll down each time * More structured options for watering, fertilising and potting medium Hopefully there will be some added features over time.

Be sure to safe your results. I almost lost my entire collection except I found a backup. It was old but better than nothing.

For those of us who own multiple of the same species, a swipe left or right duplicate entry would make the app more efficient and useful. Having to re-enter the same data is time-consuming. Also, it would be nice if the vendor/acquired from created a database wheel to reduce typing the same vendor name. Lastly, there is not an option for Hanging Basket. Should be added in the same section as: Potted, Mounted, etc.

Overall, a good pocket app for use when shopping at a show.

No App existe a possibilidade de alterar os gêneros e espécies.
Ocorre que caso seja inserido um gênero corretamente, e depois alguém EDITAR, todo seu trabalho de catalogação foi perdido.
Fizeram isso com o gênero CATTLEYA, alterando para CATLLEYA e ainda para CATLEYA. O que bagunçou todo meu arquivo.
Perdi meu tempo e todo o catálogo de mais de 300 plantas.

App is good to go. Been using it since 2019 and have no problems. Only thing can an update be added to where this is linked to a calendar. Only way to know when I need to water my plants is if I open the app. Linking it to my calendar would be more helpful for me.

I bought this app several months ago but haven’t really tried to use it until this past weekend. It’s been constantly crashing! I’m having to enter the data several times for each orchid! My iPad is relatively new and I recently downloaded the latest IOS version. The app is super glitchy and data entry is clunky.

A great phone app for the window hobbiest with a 1/2 dozen plants up to the serious grower with 100’s of orchids. Way too much detail to keep track of for every plant, but just use what features you like. Having up to two photos per plant stored in the app and not cluttering up your phone photo library is a great space saver. I’ve used the app over 5 years now.

**Developer response:** Thanks, Bob! You can actually have as many photos as your device will hold associated with each orchid. Tap on the orchid from the main list, then tap on the Photos button on the top-right. From there you can add more photos and rearrange them by tapping and holding on the photo, then dragging to the new position. While only the first couple will appear on the main info screen, you can have others appear in those spots by dragging them into the first or second position on the Photos screen. This same approach also works on the Log Info screen.

Finally, I found something where I can keep records and information.
It just needs looking at is the use of the camera. I accidentally pressed ‘Don’t allow’ when asked that the app wants access to my camera…don’t know how to reverse that. Still able to use existing pictures l, though.
The other thing would be helpful to get suggestions of plant names when typing in first letters. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. Takes quite some time to scroll through all genus’s and grex but other than that very good app.

Does not sync from one device to another.  I have been using this app for years.  I was confused because I set up the sync for my iPad and iPhone and thought it was working.  I finally realized it was not updating both devices.  Now I have some in my phone that are not on my iPad and vise versa.  What a pain.  Also, it does not have a safety feature to edit.  It is easy to accidentally delete or change orchid details.  I think it was set up nice but this app has not been maintained.

**Developer response:** Please download the new version 2.1 update. This addresses the AirDrop issue between devices, and includes many other bug fixes and improvements!

This has been the best app I’ve ever had. It has helped me categorize my orchids. I was always purchasing the same orchid but now I can easily see if I already have them. I love it!!!

I love this app! I’ve been using it for years! I run up hard against a few limitations, such as the fact that it only updates your account when you ADD an orchid, not when you subtract one from your collection. You also can’t keep track of a plant’s development, or sort by temperature ranges. When we’re having a cold snap, I want a quick list of everything that needs to come indoors when the temperature drops below 50* F. But I haven’t found anything better, and I’m so invested in this one, it would take eons to input all the data into a new app. I’m home.

I like the majority of features of this app, but suggest simplifying the watering process. 

Up usability by providing an easier option to record and update when a variety of plants at one time have been watered, rather forcing the creation of a water schedule.

You can do it now, but it requires a couple clicks instead of one single blanket feature.

Pretty happy with the unlimited amount of photos I can use to document all my plants.

### 1/5 — BEWARE!!! All Data Lost — Backup Doesn’t Work

Orchid Album is the only app on my iPad that has ever lost data. This indicates that it is a problem with the app. My iPad OS automatically updates, so any app problems that occur during a system update are not noticeable until it’s too late, and data is already gone. Apple does not provide customer service for third-party apps with data stored in iCloud.  

Considering the amount of information I stored in Orchid Album, I don’t find it reliable enough for an iPad that I use instead of a computer. For a permanent record, use Excel on a laptop — don’t waste time using this unreliable app.

Orchid Album instructions should say ‘Do not use this app as your only record. Neither Apple nor developer support data retrieval in case of app failure.’

**Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear you have experienced data loss, however the app is enabled for iCloud backup, supports backup via AirDrop to other devices, backup via iTunes file-sharing, and backup over WiFi to Mac and PC. Your assertion that backup does not work is completely false! Of the thousands of installs of Orchid Album, I have not heard of any issues like this. I strongly suggest everyone backup all important data regardless of the app, since data loss due to hardware failure of any computing device is always a possibility!

Nice try but it's real clunky to use. Not very user friendly... As another review said it desperately needs a user manual. Save your money until the bugs are worked out. Kept crashing on me with 8.3 update installed

I am a hobby grower and just started adding my collection to this app.  I use orchid wiz for my computer.  My first problem is that there is no field to put the number of my orchid.  Every collector with even a modest number of orchids knows that the number is the key to keeping track of your plants.  Please can this field be added?

I really love the app and would give it 5 stars but there are missing orchid types in the watering choices, and no option to add them either, for example, Grammatophyllum and Cymbidium. Thank you for a very useful app.

Update: I would not remove any stars but would certainly add 1 if there was a way to search quickly through my collection . Other than that, I recommend this app all the time.

Une application vraiment bien pensée. Ca sent le vécu. Gestion arrosage dynamique, le pedigré de chaque Orchidée. Photo à l’appui. Une proposition d’amélioration, ajout de la date de rempotage. Un grand merci.

Work great after update - it used to allow me to keep track of all these plants. We all know how fast this grows (no joke intended). But it is nice to keep track of when you get a plant and when it blooms and who you purchased them from.

Great app, it has amazing features, I would have a couple of ideas that would suit growers with lots of plants/ grow areas and have messaged the creator about it. I love the app and it is very usable.
