I maintain my own pool, and despite the salt cell and muriatic acid pump automation, if you don’t know or understand your water quality numbers of how the system actually works things can quickly take a turn for the worse. This app makes it SO EASY to dial in my numbers and maintain a healthy LSI. No more laser focus on maintaining a PH of 7.2 - 7.6, and no more lack of understanding TA and ORP and how the salt cell works. Thanks to this app and the great blogs on the Orenda website, I’m now a master of my pool and not a slave to it. The only reason it doesn’t get five stars is that it doesn’t have a historic function. Being able to save all of my test readings by date so I can go back and refer to the historical data would make the app perfect. Orenda, please add this functionality! :-) ### 4/5 — Orenda is great! *2026-05-26* I live Orenda, but there are a few things I would change. First, I would add in a calculation for how to adjust a pool with too much chlorine by adding sodium Thiosulfate. This is a needed calculation. Also, I would list IN ORDER what chemicals to put in and how to apply them. At no time should Soda Ash be applied prior to Sodium Bicarbonate, however Soda Ash appears first in some cases, which also affects pH… there should be a “how to” section that explains how to put the chemicals in for newer pool cleaners. ### 5/5 — Savings is huge *2024-06-27, version 5.0.0* If you’re not using this app and adjusting as recommended you’re simply spending more money and energy than necessary. Just have to convince the wife on 7.8-8.0 pH. ### 3/5 — Changing numbers *2024-04-30* I find it frustrating when you have the desired numbers in that you need and you input your current numbers…the desired numbers you put in are changing!!! It sure would be nice if they would stay fixed unless you physically change them. ### 5/5 — Great app, but.. *2024-03-17, version 4.2.0* Great free app with plenty of resources. I only wish that it would give dosages for hydrochloride acid rather than sulfuric acid, as hydrochloride acid is what it generally used in Australia at least. ### 5/5 — Orenda LSI app *2024-02-28* This is the best app for maintaining LSI parameters on your pool. It is an easy interface to use and you can manipulate the variables and see the effects of increased temp, pH, TDS, etc on your LSI. It makes it possible to know how low you can take your pH and how high you can let it climb before adjustments may be necessary. This is invaluable to a homeowner that wants to maintain their own pool and know that their plaster finish will be taken care of better than a weekly pool service. I love the app (somewhat obsessed) and I often play with it when I’m bored. :) We already have the ability to share the pool chemistry results and balancing dosages, which is great. I would love to eventually see the following features: These should be paid for features (for pool services): 1. The option to make an account with the ability to save customer’s pool history. Including volume & dosage history. 2. The ability to add prices for chemical dosages (just an input bar like with the pool volume bar). I would also love to see Chinese & added as a language option. I translate the app results into Chinese for my customers (with a third being from china). Invaluable resource with very detailed information that was presented in a very digestible manner. The training and scientifically backed information is all you need to make sure your pool water is safe. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Malfunctioning *2025-10-04* Every time I update my current numbers, it updates the desired to reflect the same if they aren’t locked. If the desired are locked, it won’t update my current. It will slow me to input my new current figures when the desired is locked, but immediately reverts to what they were previously. If I then close the app and relaunch it, then my recently input current numbers will be updated. It makes no sense and is frustrating. ### 1/5 — No chlorine or acid recommendations *2024-12-18, version 5.1.3* No matter what I change in the app, it never recommends adding or removing chlorine or acid. It seems broke. ### 1/5 — Very bad update *2022-07-14, version 3.0.2* Most recent update makes it hard to easily input readings. The slider feature does not work well and is slow and endlessly frustrating. It does not even remember your desired pool chemistry. Each time I exit the app it resets my settings. ### 2/5 — No apparent way to save pool volume *2021-08-29* At least default to the last volume entered. Dislike having to type it in every time. Also, in the calculator, you have to set the Current (left) column first because it replicates itself to the Desired (right) column and wipes out any value you may have put there first. Would also be nice if it retained the desired column values between uses. Such great potential but lacks some basic fundamental user experience features. ### 2/5 — Metric setting doesn’t work *2019-11-15, version 2.2.3* There is a setting to change from imperial to metric measurements but it doesn’t work. Went to email you guys to let you know but you asked for too much personal info before I was allowed to do so. ### 2/5 — Metric system broken *2019-11-14, version 2.2.3* Impossible to use this app in the metric world. The app expects the temperature to be at least 28 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit)... I have reported this bug a few months ago. Still no fix. I understand there is no market for Orenda in Europe. But it is shame to keep the app broken especially for a company that claims to raise quality industry standards. ### 2/5 — Need more flexibility *2019-06-11, version 2.1.5* The increments on the dosage calculator need to be much smaller. For instance in CYA the increments are 10. Way to much. Also recommend you allow the user to adjust the type of chemical we are using. For instance bleach/Chlorine is set at 12.5% when it is quote common to use 10% or even 6%. The sliding dosage scales look fancy but it would be much more accurate if the user could just enter the number. To bad one cannot keep a history in it. I have seen multiple calculation apps in the Pool industry.
