### 3/5 — CRPS

*2024-06-02*

My Neuro-Physical Therapist recommended this app for Graded Motor Therapy. Found Level 1 helpful, except I have CRPS in my entire Upper Left Quadrant. Would be great if integrated more options, then just hands & feet. Most of us don’t just have in hand or foot.

Unfortunately was unable to move to step 2 & 3 because have no way to pay for. On permanent disability & ALL funds go to my full time care, food, medicine & copays.

I’d recommend you making a free option available to therapist, that can offer — on a case by case basis. So people like myself, who are suffering but wanna do whatever they can to get their symptoms under control, have that ability.

### 4/5 — Unable to buy higher levels

*2024-03-05*

I have been attempting to buy the intermediate levels to progress my patients but when I click on “buy now” it automatically goes to the main page again.

### 3/5 — Timer broken

*2024-02-09*

My husband is a stroke survivor and uses this app to help retrain his brain left/right. He was averaging 60-70 seconds to complete the test, but the last few times it had been -16 seconds, -22 seconds, and -27 seconds. It’s hard to give an accurate gauge on how he’s doing and give a report to his OT when the timer isn’t calculating correctly. Please fix this!

### 4/5 — App

*2024-01-18, version 1.8.0*

It has only been a short time using the app, it seems to distract oneself long enough to forget the pain. I would certainly recommend it as part of of anyone’s recovery

### 4/5 — Immer dabei

*2023-12-23*

### 4/5 — Good but…

*2023-11-13*

Good but it would be better if had a few more seconds to answer . Also, if you don’t answer in time don’t use the same red “x” as the wrong “x”. Please use a different color or symbol to give more accurate feedback on the ‘passes’ to the user. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Good- but limited

*2023-07-22, version 1.8.0*

Limited to only hands and feet. It would be nice to include neck/low back… would certainly be willing to purchase, but the purchase options do not work.

### 5/5 — This will help manage pain and retrain the brain

*2022-02-09, version 1.8.0*

I am using this app to help me retrain my nerves and brain to process pain properly after badly breaking my wrist. It is working - the app makes me forget the pain and let’s my brain see and relate to hands in a fun way.

### 3/5 — OrientateFree

*2022-01-10*

Die Übungen sind ok, doch man hätte besser ästhetischere Hände und Füße auswählen können.

### 5/5 — More Time

*2021-10-30*

I think it would be great if you could change the time yourself. For example, I am learning to use my left wrist again. It is discouraging to not have enough time. I would love to decrease the time gradually -without getting discouraged. It is a wonderful app after I do my exercises.

### 5/5 — Improving coordination

*2021-09-08*

I have been really clumsy and dropping and breaking lots of things since my stroke. My physical therapist recommended this app to help me improve my awareness of my body in space. It’s a good challenge for me and I like that I can email myself the results and it keeps track and a progress chart.

### 5/5 — Gehört fest zu meiner Therapie

*2021-07-04*

### 4/5 — CRPS treatment

*2021-06-04*

I have CRPS in my right hand and my hand therapist recommended this app. I also purchased Recognise because I like the variety. Using these apps is step one in my Graded Motor Imagery treatment. I am now on step 3 - Mirror Therapy. This app helped prepare me for the mirror therapy which is helping with the pain. I still use Orientate daily prior to my mirror exercises. It would be nice to have control over the speed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too limited

*2025-12-05, version 1.8.0*

Poorly maintained app. What is free is too minimal and the additional options are impossible to purchase.

### 1/5 — Stuck

*2025-03-14, version 1.8.0*

Can’t get beyond level 3.there doesn’t seem to be a way to pay
The help function leads to a dead page

### 1/5 — No cost shown for in-app purchases?!

*2023-01-14, version 1.8.0*

There is no cost shown when you click BUY to add additional levels. Not willing to buy when the cost is unknown.

### 1/5 — Very unfair

*2018-10-11*

Some of the hand positions show only parts of the fingers and none of the thumbs. Not enough time is given. It is so unfair that you lose confidence in it being worthy of any value. The unfairness is so great that it actually is a disincentive for the patient to even want to take it, not to mention what happens if you have one hand that is impaired and you can’t hold the device and select the answer at the same time.

### 1/5 — Cannot adjust the speed so it is useless

*2018-03-02, version 1.0.5*

This app would be great IF you could adjust the display speed. People who have had strokes generally don't think as swiftly as the average person, so if I cannot manually adjust the speed to suit the patient's cognition speed, then the app is basically useless to me. Too bad, because it looks very useful otherwise.

### 2/5 — Good in concept but…HORRIBLE data issues

*2023-06-15*

I have CRPS and also use the Recognise app as a complementary part of my Graded Imagery therapy. I like this app in that it gives immediate feedback (green check mark if correct response; red x if incorrect) for each of the 25 pictures in that session, while Recognise only provides the correct/incorrect response numbers at the end of the session. Unfortunately, this app has numerous problems. The most major issue for me is in the reporting of your average over the last 10 sessions. For example, it frequently gives me stats such as that my AVERAGE was 31 correct in 18 seconds (when there are only 25 photos in a session the AVERAGE can’t be 31 correct) or it will give stats such as the average being 24 correct in 106 seconds, which is an impossible AVERAGE when NONE of the sessions took longer than 19 seconds for me to complete. My therapist sets goals for me (for example: being able to consistently get 23 correct in 20 seconds or less) so the app providing incorrect (actually mathematically impossible) stats makes it challenging because I have to click on “view previous results” to get all of the raw data and calculate the averages myself. I can do that, and I do, but it’s time I have to waste in order to monitor my progress and know whether or not I’m meeting my goals when, in theory, the app is supposed to monitor and provide that information for you. The concept is good and the app has been beneficial but the gathering and reporting of information is severely lacking. Gathering, monitoring, and reporting capabilities need to be updated in a COMPLETE OVERHAUL, and if that is addressed I’d give the app at least 4 stars.

### 2/5 — discouraging

*2019-01-13*

On some images the full hand is not visible and you are not given enough time to look at and study the image before it is marked wrong. I get frustrated as well as my heart rate starts to increase as if I'm going to have a panic attack due to this. Makes me discouraged as well as loose confidence and not want to use

### 3/5 — More features needed

*2026-07-19*

The app would be so much better if
1-beginners could turn off the time limits to figure out orientation
2-users could compare against a standard to know what’s “normal”
3-the record graph had an “average user” for comparison

### 3/5 — hand OT

*2025-11-16, version 1.8.0*

Free is the only level available. It’s ok for initial CRPS hand-arm-shoulder treatment; higher levels might be more effective.

### 3/5 — Can’t buy other packs

*2024-06-11*

Been using this for a while now for OT but have never been able to buy the additional packs. It’s never worked. Please fix this, then it’d be 5 stars for sure!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does what we need

*2026-05-03*

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-05-25, version 1.8.0*

Excellent program.

### 5/5 — Great for CRPS

*2025-01-10*

I’ve had CRPS right hand since 2018. It spread to my right leg 2020 but really got bad the past 6 months and is trying to spread to my left leg and my left arm! I used another app in the past for my right hand which helped so much, but you have to pay to use the foot part of that app so I gave this a try! It’s great and I am hopeful it’ll help with the current spread/flare. I especially like the mixed tests with hands and feet!!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2022-06-07, version 1.8.0*

I have CRPS and was advised by the physio to use this so my brain and feet would connect. I have to look at the photos really hard and end up wiggling my own toes to associate and get the answers correct.

### 5/5 — I have been injured for the last 9 months, and my physical therapist suggested this app…

*2022-04-30*

I have a nerve disorder and ig my brain has forgotten the difference between left and right, so this app is rewiring my brain so the pain will go away. Thank you Orientate!!
