### 2/5 — If NYTimes App is 5 stars, this is 2

*2026-05-14, version 10.0.56*

I appreciate the local news coverage, but this app needs improvements

### 2/5 — Low resolution after update

*2025-08-12, version 10.0.42*

The recent update to version 10.0.42 has resulted in all my photos in the digital edition of the newspaper to be low resolution including the drawings on the comics page. This also seems to affect the evening edition as well. Very disappointed about this latest update. I hope someone can look into this without me having to pay an app technician 5 bucks to submit the problem.

### 3/5 — Excessive Storage

*2025-05-12, version 10.0.36*

The app uses a huge amount of space on device. Mine was using 40 GB. Is it saving every issue ever opened? If so, this needs an option to delete older issues. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled and the storage is much better.

### 3/5 — Reading e-paper not as easy

*2024-11-02, version 10.0.29*

This new version of the app makes reading the e-paper not as easy. You select an article on the e newspaper and nothing happens other than a statement that it failed to load. Only way to read is to zoom into each article on the page

### 2/5 — eNewspaper Failed to Parse Article

*2024-09-15, version 10.0.20*

Cannot read any articles in the eNewspaper. I get “Failed to parse article” with any article I click on.

### 1/5 — app wants to share person information.

*2024-07-06, version 10.0.14*

Horrible! They want you to pay for app, share your personal information, send you notifications and share your personal information!

### 1/5 — I’m paying for constant pops

*2024-07-03, version 10.0.14*

I paid for a physical delivery subscription over a year ago. It is basically a donation to keep local news. I want to support Orlando Sentinel really. I finally figured out on my own how to have access digitally with my subscription. Now I am finally reading the news and the pops for ads are almost constant. I can read maybe 5 words in between each pop up. I am paying!! If there has to be ads too then how about one short clip for every story and not this constant interruption. I am probably going to cancel yet again as what am I really getting. No delivery and constant ads.

### 1/5 — Excruciating User Experience

*2024-07-03, version 10.0.14*

The Orlando Sentinel is a good paper, but the intrusive ads on the app make it impossible to access its quality journalism — even if you’re a subscriber like I am. Ads pop up literally every few seconds. It’s inexcusable.

### 1/5 — Useless on iPad with keyboard—Won’t rotate

*2024-06-09, version 10.0.13*

The app will not rotate on iPads used in landscape view because of attached keyboard. The new 2014 iPads are designed to be used in landscape mode.
If the app does not get updated by the developers, you will have one less full-price subscription.

### 2/5 — Constant full-screen ads

*2024-06-07, version 10.0.13*

Reading a single article means swiping away 5 or more full-screen ads that randomly pop up as you scroll down the page. It’s a huge detraction from the otherwise excellent journalism people like Scott Maxwell put out.

### 1/5 — Ads.

*2024-05-19, version 10.0.13*

Too many ads pop up while reading on the app. Doesn’t matter that you’re not even touching them. In the middle of the story of pops an ad . I’m not opposed to ad, but I am opposed to for reading.

I probably won’t renew my subscription when it’s due over over this issue

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Low resolution after update

*2026-02-05, version 10.0.51*

The recent update to version 10.0.51 has resulted in all my photos in the digital edition of the newspaper to be low resolution including the drawings on the comics page. This also seems to affect the evening edition as well. Very disappointed about this latest update. I hope someone can look into this without me having to pay an app technician 5 bucks to submit the problem.

### 1/5 — App strikes again

*2025-12-07, version 10.0.50*

Once again the app all of a sudden has a new glitch. It’s quite impressive how many different glitches the creators of this app create seemingly at random. The latest is now I randomly cannot go back to the full page after reading an article. When I click the back arrow it closes me out of the edition. When I open the edition again it takes me to the same article. Yes I’ve deleted and downloaded the edition. Yes I’ve reinstalled the app. I look forward to this randomly working in a couple months followed by the next ridiculous glitch a couple months later. My unwavering support for local journalism is the only reason I put up with this. But for how much longer? It’s anyone guess.

### 1/5 — Only way to cancel is by calling in.

*2025-10-24, version 10.0.47*

After wasting 10 minutes trying to figure out how to cancel, turns out you can only do so by calling some foreign call center. In 2025 it’s obviously a trap to keep people subscribed if you force them to call in and surf your site for the number to dial. Have never seen another company that does this, as it’s so easy to put that option in the “Manage your subscription” section. This clearly intentional and deceptive and therefore will never subscribe now

### 1/5 — Impossible to sign in

*2025-02-13, version 10.0.32*

I have been asked to sign in 3 times. However, after my username and password are accepted, I almost immediately lose access and am asked to sign in again. Do I essentially cannot read any news!

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2024-12-27, version 10.0.30*

Can’t open articles. An error code saying failed to parse article pops up. This has been going on for MONTHS!

### 1/5 — Can’t view article.

*2024-10-30, version 10.0.29*

In the e-edition, if you click on an article, it should take you to a full screen version of the article, but instead you get an error message. Fix this!

### 1/5 — Ads present in premium

*2024-10-04, version 10.0.28*

The app appears to open a browser window when I try to read certain articles, which logs me out and therefore shows me half-page ads. As a premium subscriber, I should not be seeing ads at all. Very disappointed. As a new subscriber, I want to support great, local, unionized journalism, but this app is not making things easy.

### 1/5 — New update doesn’t help

*2024-08-15, version 10.0.20*

The new update doesn’t help. I have a subscription but can’t access the paper.

### 1/5 — What’s the point?!?

*2024-08-09, version 10.0.19*

Update 08/09/24: SAME PROBLEM AS WITH LAST UPDATE!

I have been supporting local papers since college. A few months ago I stopped the hard copy as I found I was almost exclusively reading the digital Sentinel. Until now. You can’t view individual articles. I have to read it like I downloaded the PDF version!! Please fix quickly! No reason for this terrible update!

### 1/5 — Trying to sign in

*2024-07-26, version 10.0.14*

I’ve subscribed to the Sentinel for about 50 years. I never set up digital access because I
Had the printed paper. I’m on vacation in NC and can’t figure out how to go digital. I have always had my paper stopped for vacations and delivered the ones I missed when I returned. You don’t do that anymore so I just lose those papers that I wpaid for. Can you help me set up digital?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Reliable and Comprehensive

*2026-08-19, version 10.0.59*

I appreciate how fast news reaches me, especially knowing that the Sentinel has a significantly reduced staff since the “good ole days” of newspaper journalism. I know how hard the staff works and sincerely appreciate all of them! Thanks for hanging on to those amazing photographers too!

### 5/5 — Notifications not working

*2026-06-10, version 10.0.58*

I have received 54 OS notifications in 2.5 days, despite allowing only news notifications in the settings. I’m still notified of everything. It’s annoying to the point where I’m seriously considering deleted the thing. Developers?

### 5/5 — Support the Sentinel to support democracy

*2025-10-02*

Local news sources are an essential part of a healthy democracy. Without local journalism with reporters who are keeping watch over the actions of elected leaders and of area corporations, studies show that voter participation declines and corruption increases. Many readers now rely on online sources rather than subscribing to traditional newspapers. But the Orlando Sentinel is available online and should be one of the sources folks support financially so there will be trained journalists covering the issues that affect all of our lives. The hedge fund that now owns the Sentinel has shown that it is more interested in taking profits from its purchase of newspapers all over the country rather than ensuring a well staffed newsroom. Our first amendment guarantee of freedom of the press is rendered meaningless if there is no reliable source of news that is researched, fact checked, and reliable. Our democracy is being challenged from every direction right now and many of us wonder what we can do to guarantee the survival of the freedoms our constitution was designed to protect. To do your part to help preserve our democracy, subscribe to the Orlando Sentinel.

### 5/5 — Excellent accessibility for the visually impaired.

*2025-07-29, version 10.0.40*

The layouts of pages and articles facilitates. The use of swipe and speak page by the visually impaired

### 5/5 — We are fortunate here in C. Florida to have the OC.

*2025-03-27, version 10.0.35*

If it were not for the Orlando Sentinel C. Florida would be in total darkness with regard to all the corruption in Tallahassee. We are screwed by this group of politicians, on a regular basis, but at least thanks to writers like the amazing Scott Maxwell we receive explanations as to what is happening.

### 5/5 — Scott Maxwell

*2025-01-21, version 10.0.30*

Scott Maxwell is the main reason I read the Sentinel. His common sense columns are brilliantly written. Please keep doing what you are so good at Scott!

### 5/5 — Best Source of information about Central Florida News

*2024-10-10, version 10.0.28*

It’s always there, on my drive or on line. Well worth the money. A democracy depends on its newspapers. I pay for the Sentinel, NYT, Washington Post, and WSJournal. OK, I’m a retired news junkie. But I want news from professional, trained journalists. I want to know what our local, state, and national representatives are doing. I almost always, including this year vote a split ticket. Those who get “free” news from cable or internet get a lot of untruths, lies, that may have been planted by Russia, China, or Iran. Our newspapers make mistakes, but most separate editorial from news, and correct when they make mistakes. The Sentinel tries to do that. And they support Scot Maxwell, who is one of the best there is. I always read him first. I have had a Sentinel subscription since I moved to Florida in 1963. Have never been sorry.

### 5/5 — Weather

*2024-10-08, version 10.0.28*

Excellent and precise

### 5/5 — I love Scott Maxwell!

*2024-08-14, version 10.0.20*

I live in New York. I subscribe to the OS so I can read Scott Maxwell.

### 5/5 — Clark Levi - Producer

*2024-04-02, version 10.0.6*

Very informative article about a subject close to my heart!
