God bless! ### 5/5 — Best Old Calendar app *2018-01-30, version 1.2* This is the best calendar app for Orthodox Christians on the Old Calendar. It includes the commemorations for each day, usually with a reading for several Saints, Scriptural readings for the day, the major troparia and kontakia, and of course the fasting rules for the day. English and Russian are included. ### 5/5 — Best *2018-01-24, version 1.1* Many icons and saints for the day are included this free, no-ads-ever app. Daily scripture readings! The Russian version thoughts for every day of the year by Theophan the Recluse. And it's wonderful how comprehensive the Saints collection is. Also really like that the fasting days are the ROCOR fasting discipline. The app is very user friendly: among other extraordinary features, what really blew me away is you don't need to carry a bible with you to access the scriptural readings . Simply "tapping" the reference brings up the entire text. Moreover, flipping your iPhone "sideways" enlarges the text. Very cool! I'd give this app 10 stars if I could! ### 5/5 — Most thorough readings *2015-11-30, version 1.1* My favorite Orthodox app, it offers detailed lives of the saints, scripture readings, and daily troparion. Defaults to Old Calendar, but any date can be manually selected. It is not offered in the new (Revised Julian) calendar. Now suddenly it crashes on me whenever I try to read the life of any Saint. I've deleted it and reinstalled it twice now. They could have made the font nicer to look at and simple information to get us a nice reminder. ### 3/5 — Needs modified Julian *2010-08-01, version 0* VERY nice! But, while I hate to complain about such a nice FREE app, it needs one thing - ability to toggle from the default Julian calendar to the modified Julian calendar (also known as "new calendar"). For example, today, August 1, 2010 on modified Julian is July 19 on Julian, the calendar used by the app. So, instead of seeing readings and saints for today, I see saints for July 19 and readings for July 18. I can't simply switch to August 1 on the Julian calendar (August 14). Sure, I get today's saints, but the readings are for Saturday. Fix this, I will give 5 stars and would gladly pay for this app. ### 4/5 — Fantastic app I use it every day *2023-12-09, version 1.6* I love this app, the only thing I would change is that if you are on the new calendar you have to flip to the right day to match the readings and because its based on the old calendar the day is off. For example if its Wednesday the day when matched to the new calendar shows up as being in Tuesday ,making it confusing as to what the fasting rule is for the day or when the lenten fasts begin. (Speaking as a recent Catechumen) So if I may make a suggestion could you make an update to make it less confusing for those of us on the new calendar. Or make a mode that uses the new calendar. That would be very helpful. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect! *2018-01-08, version 1.1* I’ve been using this app daily to read the lives of the saints, to know when the next fast begins, and special prayers to saints. I would rally like this app to have the ability to search for saints and feast days, and also to be able to send it as a text to someone. I end up taking screenshots and that’s annoying. For those who want Gregorian, there are other great options. Only comment for improvement is to source better Lives of Saints texts: the current ones are too modern and some are odd and make inappropriate pop culture references. The Prologue of Ohrid is a readily-available alternative. The recent addition of the daily thoughts of St Theophan the Recluse is brilliant.
