I bought the Buzzbox mini, hoping it would be a great investment, but after hours trying to get it to work right and the app not even giving me graphs to track things and the acoustic transmitter never functioning, it’s just a waste. I’ve emailed their tech support but never got an answer to my problems. It seems they’ve just let this go and don’t care anymore. If you buy a buzzbox, it ships from China if that tells you anything. There are better products out there than this waste of time and money. And guaranteed you will not get a refund. ### 1/5 — Stuck in loop for setup. Useless *2022-04-24, version 1.3.0* Created a login. Logged in. Screen says choose what you’re setting up. Click on standard hive. Error message says “Could not generate API key”. I click ok. And stuck in that loop forever. No idea if the app is useful or not assuming you can get in. Assuming it’s not since I can’t get in to use it. ### 1/5 — Not working! *2022-02-20, version 1.3.0* App would not allow hive setup and website would not allow signin! ### 1/5 — Don’t buy the hardware! App is spotty at best. *2022-02-15, version 1.3.0* I was given the buzz box mini (which works with the app) as a Christmas gift, and I still can’t get it to work a month and a half later. I really think it has to do with the interface with the app, but I can’t say for sure because the online troubleshooting guides and the feedback you get from the hardware is useless. I’ve tried contacting their support multiple times over that 1.5 months without a single response. I’ve invested an additional $150 in other hardware (stupid in hindsight) trying to troubleshoot it myself, mostly because I wanted it to work as it was a gift from family and a fun little project. This is a total waste of time and money. It looks great online, but I strongly suspect that it’s a failed start-up and no one is maintaining the app or responding with customer support anymore. I can’t even get them to reply to me about sending the dang thing back. Try another product if you want to try remote hive monitoring! ### 1/5 — Really wanted this app to work! *2021-06-11, version 1.3.0* This is my 2nd attempt at this app. This time I feared one of my hives was queenless , so I gave this app another try. I put my iPhone 12 with mic end facing in the hive entrance and hit the record button. 15 seconds later I took it out when it said processing and the hour glass spinning. Waited forever with it processing, but I always get the same error “audio corruption during download“. I repeated several times with the same error until the bees had enough. I then set my phone next to some queens I had in my house. Using high speed WiFi Instead of a LTE connection I still received the same error. I think I’ll pass on the buzz box for now if the software doesn’t work I not taking a 160 dollar chance on the hardware! Anyone have any ideas? I’m willing to try about anything! Like I said I really wanted this work. ### 5/5 — Great app for beekeepers! *2020-11-25, version 1.2.0* Great app! The developers are continually improving it. This app is FREE folks and helps unobtrusively monitor your hive’s health. The developers have a sensor box that is inserted into your hive box for detailed colony health information. I haven’t tried the sensor box yet as it requires WiFi which I do not have at my apiary but the developers are working on an enhancement that uses Bluetooth for sensor box communication. If you are a beekeeper of any level you will find this app useful. You need to download it, use it, and give the developers some feed back. They are responsive to questions and have a great idea here. Beekeepers should support these guys because they are making a tool that will help beekeepers succeed. ### 5/5 — Great functionality and practical usage! *2020-10-19, version 1.1.4* This app helps you monitor all conditions of your hive that you may have left to chance before! ### 5/5 — Much Improved! *2020-10-19, version 1.1.4* Developers are really listening to feedback. I just recently decided to revisit this app and they’ve made a lot of effective changes. From the beginning, it was super easy to learn. It really has gone a long way with the updates and new features that really allows me to take care of my beehives. Device readings seem to be hampered by my hive covers which have a metal covering. Customer service was able to resolve the issues with one of my devices, but one didn’t work. They nicely refunded me for that device.
