## What is OSM Maps?

This app shows OSM maps from a various sources (OSM, Elbe5, etc). You can create notes add and edit photos, audios, videos, routes and tracks in GPX format, take photos, add record own audios, videos, routes and tracks. It has list views of all attached items. It can synchronize all of this via iCloud or backup files with the desktop app.
This app is the successor of 'Maps for OSM' by this author. It has a different data structure and different features, so it had to become a new app. But you can import data from older backup files.
This app is not affiliated with OpenStreetMap, but the use of this name has been approved. 
This app is Open Source, the code is published at https://github.com/mr-elbe5/OSM-Maps.

### 2.2 — 2026-07-20

Multiple layers on top of the base map are available now.
For initialization please reset the map source to defaults, then select your choice.
There is a new switch for the watch to keep the map visible.
Improvements on the tile caching system.

### 2.1 — 2026-04-14

Synchronization with iCloud has been fixed and partially rewritten. Hopefully it is clearer now, what the single actions are doing.
There is no 'full' synchronization, but separate steps for up and down sync.
Restore from backup files fixed, when no audios are present.

### 2.0 — 2026-04-09

Map sources can now be chosen from given URLs or edited manually like for your own one.
Tile caches now exist for each map source, so they don't have to be cleared on map change.
Additionally tile layers like for waymarks can be added. Layer visibility can be toggled.
Layers can be copied to the watch.

### 1.9 — 2026-03-09

Imported/exported track date/time corrected to time zone (app has local time, GPX files have UTC).
After loading a route to a watch, it is shown centered there, same after making it visible.
Preferences renamed to settings according to OS standards.
