Which is extremely unfortunate because this closed network device is amazing for traveling. Would love to continue to use this product, unfortunately without the app update the Monster OTG device is only good for a small battery backup for my other devices. Please update. 2 stars for still being able to use the battery otherwise 1 star at this point in time. ### 1/5 — Update please! *2018-02-05, version 2.3* Finally needed to use the app only to find out it doesn’t run under iOS 11! Now I’m left with a storage device I can’t even use as I wanted too, with my iPhone. ### 1/5 — Ok, but needs a few things *2018-02-05, version 2.3* Sleek and quick app. However, it needs to support the "Open In..." Function to allow items to open in other apps as well as to save files to the OTG cloud (in other words, "Open In..." in both directions - universal Import/export). Currently, saving locally just saves a photo, for example, to the Local folder in the app; there's no way to save it to the Camera Roll to edit, send it somewhere, nor export it to another app. Likewise, since there is no way to import other file types to the app, if I type a document in Word on my iPhone and export it as a PDF I cannot save it to the OTG Cloud; the app only allows pic and video uploads. Not very useful. Add the functionality to import/export all file types in and out of the app (like Google Drive, DropBox, and Box) so they can be used in other apps on the device and this will be a VERY useful app! UPDATE - 1/5/2018 What little functionality the app did have is now completely gone under iOS 11 as the developer has apparently decided not to support the app anymore (the last update was 3 years ago). I’m deleting the app for good now as the OTG Cloud is a pointless device nowadays anyway. ### 1/5 — Got ripped *2017-12-28, version 2.3* I transferred a movie from my pc with an .avi and it did not recognize he file. The manual says that it recognize all files but no it didn't. Otherwise this app isn't very useful! ### 3/5 — Monster OTG Cloud *2015-07-07, version 2.3* I was looking at a Mobilelite G2, as affordable way to save media from my three old Blackberry's but could not find on local without having it shipped. I came across this at Fry's for $18.00 new and thought what the heck I'll try it.. It is not the fastest and most user friendly device you can buy but it does work at bargain price. Always been happy with products by Monster in the past and glad I gave it a try... I seen it listed on the Monster web site for $100.00 and that seems to high for the build quality of the product but from $ 20-35 bucks go for it... ### 1/5 — No security if you intend to share. Too slow. *2015-05-06, version 2.3* Great hardware concept. Software needs much work. You can set a password (no https) on the web... But if you install the app there is no password and it bypasses it. The password is for access not settings. In other words, using an open network, anyone can completely control your device and files. Using a protected network everyone in you group or presentation has full control. Change settings, delete your files, etc. There should be a password on settings. Files should be read only for guests. The app shouldn't bypass the web password you set. I also agree that the files should support the 'open with' API as most file managers and cloud apps do. If the software could be refined this could be 5 star. The biggest issue is this is useless for what it presumably is supposed to do. I need to get my camera card pictures to my iPhone 6. 15 minutes and only 3 thumbnails have rendered. Meanwhile, no pictures will open (gave up after 5 minutes waiting). In short --you pop your camera SD in and can't access anything for perhaps a half hour or more if you have many files or perhaps high megapixel. Since it looks like it starts over when restarting, your phone will have to be sitting on the app running for potentially hours... I found that if you restart the device and use the web access that method works. The App, I have yet to have it display thumbs or open a file from the camera card where the devices web access can. I bought it from Fry’s a while ago and haven’t gotten around to using it until now. I have read the other reviews about the app not turning in landscape mode, but I guess I wasn’t using the device when that was occurring. The latest version I have allows this and the quality of video is great! One of my favorite things about the newest version is the ability to use dropbox and google drive. I use started using these functions every day at the office and they have been working great. I also found out I can finally create a new folder. Overall, I am super impressed with the product itself and the application and can’t wait to see more products coming out from this company. ### 5/5 — Amazing! *2014-12-11, version 2.2* I think this is a very interesting application which has been satisfying all of my needs. I know a couple of people have been complaining that it doesn't support all files. Well that may be right and may be wrong, but when you are trying to view a file like an .avi or .mkv, it's not the app that doesn't support it it is apples OS that doesn't support it. Anyways the only gripe I have is hat it does not turn to landscape mode but I'm told by their tech support that there will be a new update fixing this soon ### 5/5 — You have to get this product! *2014-12-11, version 2.2* I love the fact that you can access your external hard drive through the cloud and it also serves as a wireless extender. Not updating this app does not instill confidence in your devices. Thanks ### 3/5 — 10 year s later *2025-03-06, version 2.3* For those that still have this device 10 years later, congratulations. Now, you can only use this as a Wi-Fi router or repeater and memory card reader. It may still come in handy for when you’re at a hotel or out and about and want a little bit of a better Wi-Fi signal and have the option to connect ethernet cord in your hotel. However, probably better off just using your cell phone signal. You cannot use the ability to transfer files by just plugging in your phone and connecting to the device itself. The only thing you can do is use it as a power bank to charge your device.
