### 4/5 — On or Companion?

*2023-08-11*

I wish with the explanation for the use of this app It would tell you the difference between the On and the Companion app. I keep getting notifications to install the new version and when I hit it, it just goes to the download and says open without an explanation as to where the revised app is or what the latest version is. In neither explanation does it tell you the difference or which one you should be using. I can’t seem to tell the difference between the two, but it does tell you that having more than one app on your phone gives you problems with connectivity. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two apps and which one I should be using?

**Developer response:** Dear Angelo DeF, thank you for your insightful and clear email and all the suggestions you shared. I will share your feedback with the relevant team. We would be happy to explain the difference and what new features are included. Please reach out to us at appsupport@oticon.com

### 4/5 — Nice companion app

*2023-02-17*

I find the Oticon App useful as it allows me to adjust my hearing aids without having to manually push the buttons on my More 1, especially when I’m wearing glasses. I do find however that I lose connectivity when I want to stream if I step away from my iPhone. Seems there is a problem re-establishing the connection when back in range.I would really like it if Oticon would provide more ambient sounds like thunder storm, rain forest, birds, ocean, and more. The brook sound is nice but not enough. Also please expand the equalizer for more than just High, Mid and Low. We nead more frequency adjustment sliders.

**Developer response:** Dear Oliric, thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to write us an email at appsupport@oticon.com, then we will be happy to troubleshoot what could be the reason your hearing aids are not automatically re-establishing the connection when your hearing aids and iPhone are back in range. I will also be sure to share your feature suggestions with our developers for future app improvements. Thank you. Best regards, Oticon

### 2/5 — Mark

*2023-02-03, version 2.5.0*

I might give it 3 stars if the hearing aids didn’t cost so much. I bought these about 3 months ago. I mean for that kind of money the app and Bluetooth connectivity should work without glitch, but they are pretty sketchy, glitchy. They usually only connect to my right ear which is my bad ear or they don’t connect at all. They seem to just connect when they feel like it. They should connect 100% of the time for that kind of money. It’s ridiculous!!!
I either need another new pair or they need to fix the connectivity!!

### 2/5 — Keeps disconnecting from iPhone 14

*2022-12-21, version 2.5.0*

They paired easily and simply when I was fitted for my hearing aid. It worked for a day and after that it disconnects from blue tooth. I’ve tried powering the phone off and on, turning Bluetooth off and on. None of the hearing accessibility settings have changed. I’ve had this hearing aid for 24 hours and still have to pick up my phone or use speaker.

Judging from the other complaints, this is a known issue by the developer. Why is this not being fixed? Are you unable to fix it? Or do you not care because you’re making so much money by selling the hearing aids?

This app has one job! Ugh!!

### 3/5 — Connecting to watch and ipad

*2022-12-15, version 2.5.0*

I do like the idea of receiving calls and listening to music and podcasts and for those, this app works well. However, i cannot get it to work with my watch. I get a visual of a watch, and x and a phone bur no connection. I am using iphone 11. When I try to put the app on the ipad, it only streams one ear unless I turn off the blue tooth on the phone then the watch gets conflicted. Hmmm. When I call service, I get no answer, just music. What do I do?

### 2/5 — Frustrating!

*2022-12-11, version 2.5.0*

My doctor just downloaded the app on my iPhone7 and I’m having so much trouble with everything on my phone now! My sound has gone out completely and I can’t watch Netflix or any videos with sound anymore! I have been wearing them daily for the last three days, yet they only record a couple of hours each day instead. I sent a long email of additional items I’m experiencing so hopefully I will receive a response soon. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled to try to get my audio fixed. I’m so frustrated!

### 2/5 — Constantly unpairing from my phone.

*2022-11-24, version 2.5.0*

These hearings aides and app are trash. I have had these hearing aids for a week and at least 2 times a day the one or the other side will constant disconnect. I have to either unpair them and then re pair again or take both out and put them in a charging case and then put them in my ear. The hearing aids constant come out of my canal and if I push them further in. The my ear canals hurt.

I have complete restored my phone and set up as new and this still happens. For the cost of hearing aides this should not happen.

### 2/5 — Works fine when it actually connects

*2022-11-22, version 2.5.0*

The app works fine when my hearing aids (more 2 minirite) are connected. One or both will disconnect frequently even after updating to iOS 16. Sometimes restarting the hearing aids will reconnect them to the app, sometimes it doesn’t. My hearing aids still work, but the app is unreliable.
ETA: I have a new phone (iPhone 14) and it’s updated to iOS 16. The app still disconnects frequently throughout the day. I’ll only get audio on videos from one hearing aid or it won’t play through them at all. When I take my dog for a walk, it will cut out constantly and I can’t enjoy what I’m listening to! It’s very frustrating!

### 4/5 — Oticon app

*2022-11-11, version 2.5.0*

I’ve used this app for four years. Typically does good for me. I would say in the 4 star range. But the past couple weeks the app just stays on screen that wants me to pair HA up to phone. But my HA is already paired up. I go through un pair process and start all over to no avail. Same ending the app waiting for HA to pair up with phone. So at this point the app is useless. So with my iPhone I put my hearing accessibility short cut for hearing connected to the three clicks on button on right side of phone. Trust me I’d rather use app, but till app is working I’ll just use the capable assistance that iPhone is giving to me to mute and control volume.

**Developer response:** Dear G1Hammer, thank you for the review. We are sorry to hear about the recent struggle. We have just released a fix for some connectivity glitches that recently started to happen. Please, reach out to the App Support team at appsupport@oticon.com to chack if the fix applies to your set up (phone model and hearing aids model). They will be happy to get you up and running! Best Regards, Oticon

### 3/5 — Good and Bad

*2022-10-30, version 2.5.0*

Great you can control the hearing aids from the app. However, one the boost doesn’t work. But The biggest fault is driving in the car. The phone Call goes to the hearing aids instead of the car audio system. So you have to look down on the app and switch to the car system each time which is dangerous. They should allow the call to default to your car system versus the aids. It’s difficult to talk or hear with the background traffic noise on the hearing aids.

### 3/5 — The app has little function

*2022-10-12, version 2.5.0*

The app can’t do much show you battery a volume control.
Find my hearing aids is handy. And is important
But if it will not connect to one or both hearing aids you can’t see why or do anything but restart your app and aids.
I have issues with my left hearing aid not connecting to one device.
But it connects to the other. The right always connects and the left is new. My old left had to be replaced it did the same thing as this new one does. Lasted about 3 yrs and stopped working all together.
I need to be able to turn Bluetooth off individually with the app. So I can tell if one is working or not on the diffent devivices.
They always connect to my iphone now. But left will not connect to my iPad and I use it often. I am almost deaf in my right ear and that aide is almost useless.

### 4/5 — Good, But Room For Improvement.

*2022-10-02, version 2.5.0*

“Oticon On” offers a feature to track missing/lost hearing aids. That is a good feature. However, if your wearing hearing aid(s) and you walk too far from smart device that has the “Oticon On” app installed on a device (ie: phone), there is no alert in the hearing aid indicating your too far from your Bluetooth signal. This can help users prevent loss of the device.

A nice feature would be a “Loss/Reconnection Of Bluetooth” from your smart device. If you’re out of Bluetooth signal range, the hearing aid(s) would make a sound alert, signifying you’re out range from smart device. If you come back into your device’s Bluetooth range, the hearing aid(s) would make an alert that Bluetooth reconnection has been established.

Just like the hearing aid traker, “Oticon On” should allow the users to set the device tracker to On/Off.

**Developer response:** Dear UnhappyMotorist, we are very sorry about the inconvenience caused by the issues that happened in relation with the release of iOS 15.4. Apple has just released a new iOS version 15.4.1 that fixes the issues. Please go into your phone settings and download the iOS 15.4.1 update, then you will be able to use our app to full effect again. Best regards, Oticon.

### 4/5 — Apple Watch, volume adjustment too sensitive

*2022-09-23, version 2.5.0*

Having access to this app on my Apple Watch (series 7) is super handy, but the thing I use it for the most, adjusting volume, is really difficult due to its sensitivity. You turn the bezel knob on the watch to make the adjustment and usually I only need to change the volume by one number up or down, but to do that is nearly impossible. I overshoot both ways EVERY SINGLE TIME. Back and forth, back and forth to get to the number I want. 😠 It doesn’t need to be so sensitive that you go from one end of the scale all the way to the other in one scroll. If the developer is reading this, please tune down the sensitivity of the volume adjustment bezel.

Thank you

**Developer response:** Dear GoodKram, thank you for your feedback. We will share it with the relevant team. We are always looking forward to make the app and the accessories more and more user-friendly! Kind Regards, Oticon

### 5/5 — Oticon App

*2022-09-06, version 2.5.0*

I like the ability to control my hearing aids through the Oticon app as well as the ability to also use the buttons. I recently had a connectivity issue and with the assistance of Oticon customer support was able to correct the issue by deleting one device. I understand this is something being worked on between Apple and Oticon and look forward to being able to use more than one device with Bluetooth capability. Other than that I have enjoyed being able to switch programs and adjust volume setting through the app.

**Developer response:** Dear user, thank you for taking the time to review the app and for the support you received at Oticon. We are glad to hear you appreciate both! Kind Regards, Oticon

### 4/5 — Slow but works

*2022-08-15, version 2.5.0*

I would give this app 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the app doesn't stay connected to my hearing aids all the time. When I open it to control my hearing aids, it takes a long time to connect to them, even though they are already connected to my iPhone. Otherwise the app works well and is easy to use. It's the only control that lets me adjust the volume on each aid separately or to just mute them (like when I'm using a hairdryer or food processor). There are controls built into the phone and buttons on the aids themselves, but they control both together always. And the buttons on the aids require pushing multiple times to the lowest volume. So I think this app is worth keeping. Developers, please don't ruin it like other hearing aid app developers apparently have done. I studied their reviews to get a feel for what other brands might be like. I think I'll stick with Oticon for a while longer.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for the feedback. We are glad to hear you are happy with the hearing aids and would love to investigate further on the connectivity issues you are experiencing. Can you please write to the app support team at appsupport@oticon.com, they will look into them. Best regards, Oticon.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2023-03-02*

I have tried everything to get the app to work, since the last update for my iPhone and nothing is working. I have deleted the app and reloaded several times. I have followed all the steps to pair my hearing aids with the app, but nothing is working. It just stays on the page on how to pair your hearing aids. I just want to be able to use the app again, because when it was working it helped me adjust the volume of my hearing aids, be able to talk on the phone and hear people, and know when someone was trying to reach me on my phone. Now I can’t do any of those things because my hearing aids will not pair with my phone. When I go to accessibility, hearing aids, it shows my hearing aids are connected and paired with my phone, but the app will not work. I hope someone can help me.

**Developer response:** Dear Vedelhia, we are sorry to hear about the inconvenience. We are very glad to help you! Please, reach out to the App Support team at appsupport@oticon.com mentioning your review, and they will support you and guide you. Best Regards, Oticon

### 1/5 — More control over your devices

*2023-01-18, version 2.5.0*

If you had more control you could get better results. Coming from Resound to Oticon this is a downgrade in the app. The control for the tinnitus allows +0 to -5 what a crap range. Let me fine tune it a bit more so I can help my audiologist, then save it. Let us save a profile so once we fine tune these to what we’re finding in the real world results are we can go on with living. The resound app is WAY better with controls over your 2000+ dollar devices. Allow us more than +4 to -8 or 0 to -5 on volume and to save a custom profile. These would be MAJOR improvements especially the profile one for the tinnitus sufferers out there.

### 1/5 — Worst hearing aide ever

*2022-12-11, version 2.5.0*

I literally hate these hearing aides. They do not mute sounds in the general environment when listening or talking no matter what settings I or my provider tried to adjust the settings. I even found a setting on my iPhone that said to block surrounding sounds, however, it was to no avail.
I paid $ 4200 for these Oticon higher level device. I really, really want my in the ear aided back. I could certainly adjust them.
Also, your App doesn’t work either. I have to constantly delete and reinstall every day to wear them.
Oticon you dropped the ball on these aides and App

### 1/5 — App

*2022-11-25, version 2.5.0*

Don’t know if these hearing aids are junk or if it’s the app, have to get several calls before the app will find the hearing aids and connect and about half the time I’m on a call only one of the hearing aids will be connected. I have disconnected them from phone and powered them on and off , and there is still no pattern to how they are going to work each time. There’s no kind of noise filter to turn on and off , my last hearing aids were a different brand and app, had filters for restaurants and streaming device for television. I would not recommend this brand of hearing aid or the app to anyone. REPEAT, DO NOT BUY OTICON OR THIS APP.

### 1/5 — Too many disconnects

*2022-08-06, version 2.5.0*

About the March timeframe, my hearing aids began to randomly disconnect from my phone, either one or both. I have tried every remedy Oticon support suggested multiple times and it just keeps happening. Then I have to go into the settings- accessibility menu to reconnect, sometimes multiple times to connect. This is particularly annoying for phone calls. Despite paying $6k, if this doesn’t get fixed, I will be looking at a different brand of hearing aids. These are only 8 months old and are nothing but trouble.
Contacted by developer and suggested I have multiple devices connected. I do not have multiple devices connected and have explained this in previous responses. Still very frustrated just like many others.

**Developer response:** Dear Buffalo home,
we are sorry to hear you are still experiencing such persistent connectivity issues. This issue might be due to multiple iOS devices being paired and controlling the hearing instruments at the same time. Please make sure to have only one iOS device paired to the Hearing Aids. If you have both an iPad and an iPhone paired to the hearing aids, the solution is to forget the hearing aids in the Accessibility menu on the device that you don't wish to use. If this does not solve the issue, please reach out to our App Support team at appsupport@oticon.com.
Best regards,
Oticon.

### 1/5 — App is stuck

*2022-06-19, version 2.5.0*

The app is stuck all the time at 18% whether the aid is connected or not. In fact it says it’s not connected, it still says it’s 18% and it is connected. The app is useless. Freezes until it’s re-paired and then only for a short time. Remote control never works anymore. And the hearing aid drops periodically. Sometimes I have toJust put it in the wireless charger for 10 seconds or so and then back in my ear and it works until the next time it drops. Other times, if I tap on it when it’s in my ear it will come back. At the times when I actually have to put it back in the charger, after maybe two hours of use, and it dies – if I’m not home I can’t put it in the charger so I’m stuck with a dead hearing aid until I can get back home For the money, I’m very disappointed. I would not recommend this hearing aids to anyone

**Developer response:** Dear copper#1, we are sorry to hear about the inconvenience. We would love to help you with the issues you are experiencing. First, it is important to mention that rechargeable hearing aids can be turned off/on also with the buttons present on the hearing aid. Depending on the model of the hearing aids the kind of push will be different, but with the latest model a long push on the lower button will turn the hearing aids off (orange light), and repeating the operation will turn them on (green led light). This should help with reconnecting the hearing aids. We would also like to help you avoid the disconnections. Please, reach out to our support team at appsupport@oticon.com mentioning this review. Best Regards, Oticon

### 1/5 — Issue with text alerts

*2022-05-10, version 2.5.0*

It was nice to be able to hear my phone in my hearing aids (my previous Oticon hearing aids were not Bluetooth enabled), but I discover it caused an issue with alerts on my iPhone. I could not figure out why I was no longer hearing an alert when I received text messages when my phone was locked. Through much testing and research I figured out that when I had Bluetooth enabled, I would NOT received alerts. If I disabled Bluetooth I would receive alerts. I had to uninstall Oticon app and everything worked fine after. Very disappointing to say the least. So, no Oticon software until that is fixed

### 1/5 — Oticon needs to update their App for iPhone 15.4.1

*2022-04-18, version 2.5.0*

I recently updated my iPhone 13 to the updated iPhone App, as suggested by Apple iPhone creator. I can not use my iPhone any more to adjust my volume, or use the Oticon App find my hearing aids feature. I have deleted the Oticon Open App as suggested, then turned off my iPhone, then reinstalled the Oticon Open App, ALL to no avail. I still do not have the much used Oticon sliders bars to adjust my Oticon Hearing Aids. This happened once before about 4 years ago, and when I Nextel did an iPhone recommended update, I was able to use the Oticon Open again. Could Oticon PLEASE UPDATE THEIR APP TO KEEP UP WITH THE IPHONE UPDATES. Thank you Oticon, my Hearing Aid Specialist tells me Oticon is the best Hearing Aid for my hearing loss.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2022-04-12, version 2.5.0*

The app worked for the first 2-3 days after getting the aids, but won’t work anymore. To be clear, the aids themselves still work perfectly and iPhone settings still work, but the app doesn’t.

I’ve tried everything to include, deleting and redownloading the app, repairing the hearing aids, etc, but the app just will not let work. My Oticon More 1s are connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth and all Bluetooth settings work, however, the app is still telling me that I need to pair them.

To make it even more frustrating, the app can literally find my hearing aids location at any time, so it clearly DOES connect to my hearing aids. However, I have not been able to change the volume, check battery, etc, since the first few days.

Side note: The fact that I couldn’t create an account via the app if I disagreed to you guys sending me emails is unbelievably scummy. I was only able to create an account after pressing accept to you sending me emails.

These hearing aids cost THOUSANDS and yet the app doesn’t work outside of location finding and you can’t have an account without agreeing to marketing spam.

Honestly unbelievable.

**Developer response:** Dear TacoMedic, thank you for your feedback.

Did you try and re-pairing your aids through the 'Accesibility menu?
This should reestablish pairing with our app as well.

To do so, tap your hearing aid from the ‘Hearing Devices’ menu, then tap ‘Forget this device’, and then pair them anew. After you do this your hearing aids should be able to pair in our app.

If not, you can also try and restart your phone and your hearing aids after unpairing them, and then pair them again from the accessibility menu.

I hope this fixes the issue - If not, please write us at appsupport@oticon.com.

In regards to account creation, we only ask for your email in order to send you a confirmation link, you will not receive any marketing materials.

Best regards, Oticon

### 1/5 — Still lousy

*2021-10-17, version 2.5.0*

Was waiting and hoping app update would fix issue of aids constantly disconnecting from the app. It’s actually WORSE. I’m constantly having to toggle Bluetooth off/on, unpair/repair the aids, etc. aids also randomly turn off and on , mostly when streaming from TV adapter. I have latest iOS version and aids were replaced by Oticon in June so it’s not the aids. I don’t have aids connected to iPads or any other devices. Still very disappointed

**so why is response from a year ago about firmware? Are you actually reading these reviews Oticon? Also not sure why my name doesn’t show up on review? Something about iPhone 4s not compatible? I don’t even have an iPhone 4s.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Huge improvement in one area

*2023-09-23*

I never write reviews but I feel compelled to because there are so many negative ones which is very different from my experience. I installed this in iOS 16 and now using in iOS 17 without issue. I have an iPhone 13pro

-I’ll start with the biggest improvement which is the Apple Watch complication. The previous one required using the Digital Crown to change volume which was very imprecise. The current complication has a + and - button to push which is much better. Also it has a toggle for the speech booster function which is new.
-the iPhone app itself is about the same as the prior version, very responsive and connected to my oticon miniRite hearing aids easily.
-The app shows estimated battery time (ie x hours ) remaining on the hearing aids in addition to the percentage charge remaining

I almost didn’t download the new app because of the poor reviews but I’m glad I did. I’d encourage you to give it a try and decide for yourself.

### 5/5 — Does not work with iPad

*2023-07-21*

The app works fine with my iPhone but cannot get it to work with my iPad. I have a new pair of otican real hearing aids replacing an older pair that was working fine with my iPad. None of the troubleshooting suggestions worked. Now as far as rating the hearing aids for their primary use, hearing, they are excellent. My low rating is “only” for the iPad connection issue and nothing else.

UPDATED REVIEW: problem solved

I figured out the problem a few weeks ago. I had to remove the older set of hearing aids from my iPad. Oticon also contacted me today via email with the same advice. I also preferred a tv adapter that allows me to watch via blue tooth with the tv volume turned down or off. Easy to set up.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. You should be able to get your new hearing aids to work with your iPhone by deleting the old hearing aid pairing and pairing the new ones. You can do so on your iPad by going to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > Tap name of old hearing aids (if there) > tap 'Forget this device' > Restart new hearing aids to put them in pairing mode > Pair them on the screen of your iPad when prompted.

Please do not hesitate to write us at appsupport@oticon.com if you need further support with this.

Best regards, Oticon.

### 5/5 — Praises for Kristian, the Oticon Team

*2023-02-10, version 2.5.0*

2/1 pm…forget about all the accolades about this app. It is no longer paired to my hearing aides. I do not have the time nor the patience to go through a series of steps every morning to connect😟 2/1 am…I had problems pairing my hearing aides to my new phone.
I sent an email to Oticon. I promptly received a reply with 1-2-3- instructions on how to do this. Also received a link to a detailed “Pairing Guide”, if I needed it. Thanks for the prompt reply and for the simple, easy to understand instructions.

### 5/5 — Working Perfectly Now

*2023-01-25, version 2.5.0*

The TV adapter streaming default volume setting is at the highest (loudest) setting. The comfortable adjustment I set to enjoy a program on TV, used to have to be readjusted each time I received a text, notification, etc, due to the volume and equalizer returned to the default settings.

Happily, app support immediately reached out and gave me several options to correct and avoid my issues.

I now set my volume and equalizer that is comfortable for the program I am watching and then go to settings on my IOS and turn off Bluetooth. Wa La, no longer having to readjust the volume. When I am no longer watching TV, I go back to settings and turn Bluetooth back on.

This has taken care of all issues.

### 5/5 — Service Professionalism

*2023-01-12, version 2.5.0*

Kristian had been my service tech. The attention to my problem was extraordinary. Very complete and precise instructions. My observation had been fairly frequent connection drop between my hearing aids and app. with four separate devices being involved. We were able to discover as to why, a fix was determined. A lot of hard effort was put into this, and throughout very professional. Best technical service I ever experienced. 5 star for sure.

### 5/5 — Fabulous product

*2022-10-03, version 2.5.0*

I absolutely LOVE my hearing aids. I was born prematurely at 3 1/2 pounds 2 months early. I have been hard of hearing ever since that day. I read lips all through school and colleges. I finally have purchased Oticon hearing aids. It has been a life changing experience ! I just had cataract surgery so now I can read without glasses and thank God I can HEAR! Oticon service is the BEST! The company replies immediately to any online questions a customer has!!!

### 5/5 — Oticon easy to use

*2022-10-03, version 2.5.0*

I have learned to use Oticon’s app to control my hearing aids quickly as I move from one environment to another. The communication between the app and hearing aids is quick allowing me to keep in the conversation smoothly.
The company communicates with hearing aid users through app notifications allowing them to keep us all informed. I love how Oticon products have helped me!

### 5/5 — Great for iPhone and Apple Watch

*2022-09-17, version 2.5.0*

You may not need this app as much if you’re using Apple MFI controls, but if you want a few more controls, it is very good. I especially like it to turn down one ear in restaurants, etc. and still hear the conversation. If you have an Apple Watch, it’s great! Easy to control your hearing aids (I have the Oticon More), and quickly mute and unmute them. Think about working with power tools or mowing a lawn. Very fast and easy to mute them and return to normal when you’re done. It’s up to you whether to use them in social situations!

**Developer response:** Dear Arbeet, thank you for taking the time and sharing your thoughts with us. We are glad our app and hearing aids are making difference for you. Kind regards, Oticon.

### 5/5 — App usage

*2022-09-15, version 2.5.0*

As I did not have a compatible device previously, I had my hearing aids for 2 years before I was able to use this app on my new iPhone. I now use it everyday and I would be lost without it. I use it for volume control, sound booster, as ear buds for music, streaming video and watching tv with the bluetooth adapter and it works perfectly as intended.

### 5/5 — Excellent customer service

*2022-09-13, version 2.5.0*

I recently upgraded my iPhone and was having difficulty pairing my hearing aids with the new phone. I had gotten completely spoiled before being able to listen privately through my hearing aids.
