## What is Otolog?

Otolog is a student-record app for independent piano and music teachers. How far through the method book each student is, what they are working on now, what you said last time, whether tuition came in — the more students you have, the more there is to remember. Otolog lets you capture it in the seconds between lessons.

- Method book progress at a glance
Beyer, Burgmüller 25, Czerny 30/40, Hanon, Sonatina Album, Burnam and Gillock come built in, along with Faber, Alfred and Bastien. Tap a piece number to mark it passed and watch the progress bar fill. You can add your own books too.

- Repertoire and lesson notes
Track pieces and the history of what has been passed, including recital and competition repertoire. Leave one line after a lesson and pick up exactly where you left off next time.

- Tuition check-off
A student-by-month grid where one tap records that tuition arrived. The number of unpaid students shows on the home screen, so nothing gets missed.

- Today's lessons, recital mode and statistics
Open the app and today's and tomorrow's students are listed with last time's notes. Recital mode collects performers, pieces and running order, reorderable by dragging. Statistics show which method books are in use and how your tuition collection rate is trending.

- Your students' information stays with you
Most students are minors. Otolog has no server and no account. What you enter is stored only on your device and is never sent to the developer or anyone else. App lock with Face ID or Touch ID and password-protected encrypted backup are included in the free tier — safety features are not paywalled.

The free tier covers 3 students and 1 custom method book. Progress, repertoire, notes, tuition, recital mode, statistics, app lock and encrypted backup are all free. Otolog Pro (a one-time purchase) makes students and custom method books unlimited and adds a PDF progress report to hand to guardians and a Today's Students Home Screen widget. Not a subscription — buy once and keep it. Works on iPhone and iPad.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-21

- Tuition amounts are now shown. The Tuition tab totals what you have received, what is outstanding, and the expected total. Pick your currency in Settings.
- Attendance tracking added, free for everyone. One tap after a lesson.
- Custom method books can now be edited. Deleting one shows how many students it affects.
- Backups now include recitals, enrolment dates and attendance. Older backup files still open.
- The Home screen links to recitals and statistics, and the unpaid notice opens the Tuition tab.
- The free student limit now counts enrolled students only. Students marked as left no longer count.
- Cancelling a new piece or note no longer leaves an empty record behind.
- Settings gained a "Delete All Data" option.
