### 4/5 — Love the app but....

*2020-11-26, version 2.29*

I absolutely love this app. But can someone explain to me why it’s different on my tablet then on my iPhone? When I put it on my tablet, one of the shows listed is The Price of Fear (an absolute favorite of mine) but that show isn’t listed on the app on my phone. Also, One of the genres on the app on my tablet is thriller but that’s not listed on the app on my phone. Finally, on my tablet I cannot find any folder for all of the downloaded episodes. On my phone there is a folder but it only allows one episode at a time (which can’t be right).

**Developer response:** Sound like you are comparing a different app? We never had The Price Of Fear nor a Thriller category.

### 4/5 — 📻 Best but need Descriptions🤔

*2019-11-10, version 2.23*

The BEST!! BUT....
Recent Update-A bit glitchy. Not as smooth. The side slide menu is still a bit of a pain for me. You should be able to swipe and not have to hit the word menu. Dark mode is great but the font should be white so we can see it for the pop up. Still no episode descriptions and a lot of the CBSMT episodes are still missing on this app. I have to use an alternative source to get the missing episodes. But I luv the app even after all these years. I use it daily. Also, I liked seeing the whole radio when listening to an episode...the half is not as cool. Maybe think about a rating system within the app for the eps like Netflix. It would be helpful for some of the stories. 👍👎

### 5/5 — My Favorite App!

*2019-05-04, version 2.19*

This has got be my favorite App ever! I’ve been a fan of OTR for many many years. Being a fan of old movie classics, listening to these radio shows is the icing on the cake. I’m 56 and have turned my friends both older and younger on to this app and they love it too. So many shows and genres to choose from. I especially love the Screen Guild Theater. After all these years of listening, I just wanted to say thanks for providing an excellent source of entertainment! The Golden Age of Hollywood lives!

### 5/5 — Absolutely outstanding!

*2019-04-27, version 2.19*

I’m amazed at the amount of content available for free, there are others out there that only offer this type of content as pay as you play. Fidelity is excellent, I could not be happier except if it had more crime and detective shows available especially Sherlock Holmes.

### 5/5 — Old Time Radio

*2019-04-21, version 2.19*

Old Time Radio was pretty much before my time, but black and white horizontal jumping TV wasn’t. We were lucky to have 5 or 7 channels and not all were clear. I’m not bothered much by poor picture quality or not so great audio. Been listening to many Gunsmoke Episodes here. Love the TV series and becoming very appreciative of Radio versions. Great app and even laughing at the old commercials. Thank you!!!

### 5/5 — A great app I use daily

*2019-03-05, version 2.19*

Quality of the programs in the variety of the programs is fabulous. I found it this app easy to use And reliable for the last eight years area. Being able to download the shows allows playback in areas without a signal.

### 5/5 — Nice app !

*2019-01-09, version 2.19*

Great app for listening to Old Time Radio Shows and an impressive offering of shows.
I am impressed that so much is offered in the free version of the app. Many I’ve tried limit the number of Show offerings. Even more impressive is the option to play a show offline after downloading even in the free version. Worth the download.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-11-29, version 2.19*

I’ve downloaded about a dozen of these OTR apps, and this one rises far above the others in value and content. You won’t regret getting this and the couple of low-cost add-ins. For me, the Spotlight feature didn’t add anything, but that’s just my opinion. Great job by the developers. Most other apps won’t work without Internet connection.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2018-10-21, version 2.19*

I’ve had some issues like any other app. I just shut it down and reopen and it works great...I’ve been hooked on old radio shows for over 12 yrs...I would download to my mp3 player so I was glad to see an app and this app has a good selection I love to listen too.

### 5/5 — Baker

*2018-09-13, version 2.19*

I bake a great deal and this app helps keep me going. I love having coffee with Gildersleeve and mixing ingredients with Fibber McGee and Molly. The “Life of Riley” helps me laugh when I mess up. I have so many favorites I can’t name them all. I do need some drama now and then and it’s so easy to choose from this terrific lineup. Thank you so much for taking me back to good, clean fun on the radio.

### 5/5 — Good Times

*2018-08-11, version 2.19*

Reminds me of my youth. Dad would not allow TV in the house and bedtime at 9:00 strictly enforced. The work around was the fact that we each had a radio in our rooms. Many were the nights spent listening (on very low volume) to Johnny Dollar, Suspense, The Whistler, Palladin, and my favorites, You Bet Your Life with Groucho, Fibber McGee and Molly, and (of course!) Gunsmoke. Thanks for wonderful memories!

### 5/5 — Definitely recommend

*2018-08-10, version 2.19*

I’m 56 and have been an Old Time Radio fan since my teen years when I would put a transistor radio under my pillow and listen to episodes of Mystery Theater. This wonderful app allows me to hear OTR shows wherever I am, day or night. The fact that it is free makes it a 5 star recommendation for me. If you’re a fan of OTR, get this app and let the fun begin. I have no affiliation with the developers, don’t know them from Santa Claus but they did a great job with this app. Chad OldTimeRadio61

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great selection but deletes downloaded episodes

*2021-05-04, version 2.31*

Spent 6 hours researching episodes to build a small playlist for myself to have it all deleted without any indication as to why...

UPDATE: You can spend a dollar to save episodes, but the app doesn’t tell you this upfront. It allows you to continue downloading without any prompt or message. I looked through 1400 episode descriptions to have my work wiped out because the app isn’t upfront about paid services. Thanks. Retrieve my episodes based off viewing/download history and I’ll change my rating/review

### 1/5 — Problem with episodes

*2021-03-22, version 2.31*

Why are so many of the episodes distorted? I’m listening to DRAGNET and many of the episodes skip words when you listen. Also they can speed up, dialogue between characters is flopped one over the other and you lose whole chunks of what’s happening. These same episodes when you listen to them on You Tube are perfect, so it isn’t the recordings themselves. Also why are you missing episodes of series, yet I find them on You Tube?

### 2/5 — Issues with playback

*2021-03-28, version 2.31*

I’ve used this app for old time radio shows for the past 3 years. Now it barley function it shows their on the air but they don’t play.
I usually listen to detective shows but for the last few months it has been a frequent issue getting a show to play. Unfortunately at this time I’m going to have to look for a different app.

### 3/5 — Great Radio..poor announcer

*2023-01-23, version 2.40*

Whoever it is that adds the side notes to the stories cannot speak without using “and uh” “well uh” and pausing to get his thoughts together. Trying to tell us that Stormin Normans father was on the show took forever to tell. Additionally, there were voicing talking in the background that came through while the announcer was talking.

The radio programs are excellent without anyone having to add their own 2 cents worth.

### 3/5 — Love the app when it works

*2022-03-01, version 2.39*

The other day I kept on getting error messages in the middle of playback. If I turned my phone off and restarted it I could play again but after awhile it would stop in a program and display error

Tried delete and restarting the app only problem is I don’t recall the password and when I try to reset a new password I get invalid charecter or can’t change password. So as it sits now I don’t have access to the app. And yes I used their link to try a reset of the password

### 3/5 — Still a 5 star app, but can you fix this bug?

*2020-10-20, version 2.27*

Last month or so, if I pause the show I’m listening to, when I want to restart it, it won’t start again until I power off my phone and relaunch the program. Same if I want to use camera - it used to just start right up where I left off, but now, must power off the phone completely before relaunching. Can you fix?

### 3/5 — Some incomplete episodes

*2018-04-23, version 2.19*

This app sure has a lot of content, like 415 episodes of Gunsmoke. However, many episodes stop suddenly before they finish. You might prefer to have less complete episodes, than more incomplete episodes. Also, many episodes have a strange warbling background noise all the way through. The makers of this app, simply don't care that much, so it's free.

### 3/5 — Pros and cons

*2017-11-24, version 2.19*

I've used this for over a year, and rely on it in many ways, but it does have some limitations.

Pros: easy interface, very wide selection of shows organized by genre and listed in date-of-broadcast order, choice of streaming or downloading
Cons: (1) frequently forgets to keep you place, so that it will start the show again at the beginning; (2) often has very poor sound quality even though there are much better, clearer versions of these same episodes; (3) missing some episodes altogether (e.g., missing parts of five-part Yours Truly Johnny Dollar shows, though these are available online)

### 4/5 — Lots of fun but one flaw

*2022-10-14, version 2.39*

I’ve had this app on my phone for several years. I have really enjoyed listening to hundreds and hundreds of old-time radio shows. I only have one complaint. Somehow, during some update or another, perhaps when iOS was updated, all the shows that I had listen to and were marked as such were returned to the not listened to status. So the record of those hundreds of shows that I have listened to to is now gone. It’s really hard to remember what you’ve done on this app without that feature being reliable.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2022-08-11, version 2.39*

I really enjoy this app (I just got it but so far so good!) the only change I’d make is I wish the programs had a synopsis so I know what I want to listen to. Right now it’s a shot in the dark. I’m in my 30s but I love vintage everything- movies, clothes, radio but I don’t know much about the individual shows so having a short intro written about them would be very helpful.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — grateful man who is blind.

*2022-10-21, version 2.39*

I noticed in the latest update that, when my phone auto locks, it stops playing the show that I was streaming. My workaround for now is to set auto lock to never. However, I’ve got to tell you this app totally and completely kicks took us! just an interesting fact you may not know, many persons that are blind or low vision thoroughly enjoy these old time radio shows. No need for anyone to describe anything. :-) :-) :-)

### 5/5 — The best OTR out there!

*2021-12-27, version 2.37*

Had this app for years since my first iPhone 3! Best one going, paid the 5 bucks years ago to be able to down load shoes with every penny! Keep up the great work!
Also thanks for removing the pay wall!

### 5/5 — Great entertainment

*2021-09-13, version 2.32*

This app is nice for people who don’t have a television like myself.
I read a lot but at times I just want to relax and listen to this app.
Not only is it entertaining but an opportunity to use one’s imagination.
Been enjoying this app for several years.

### 5/5 — Great App... worth downloading!

*2020-07-28, version 2.19*

I have been listening to Old Time Radio Programs for years before going to bed, searching the internet or you tube to find them. This app has an unbelievable variety of programs and they are all in one easily accessible place. Whether you like mysteries, comedies, dramas or whatever genre you have a desire to hear, you can find them in one well organized application. If you haven't been exposed to the old radio programs, this is the place to start. You will be surprised at how well many of these programs are written. My favorite is Broadway is My Beat, a fine crime drama with just the right amount of comedic relief. It's like listening to someone read you a short story, great for travel in the car or before going to bed. Thank you developers for making such a useful app!

### 5/5 — Great app, great audio, one request

*2020-07-19, version 2.27*

I frequently listen to OTR episodes before going to bed... soothing, easy, enjoyable and just a great way to doze off.

One request - having a way to select episodes by theme. I’d love to be able to find “Christmas” episodes in one spot, or searching by guest stars.

Regardless, thank you for all the work!

### 5/5 — The best collection

*2020-04-19, version 2.26*

I use this app at work, I stream the radio shows. I love this app, it makes work so much more fun being able to have great radio shows at my finger tips!

Update: I’ve now used this app across multiple phones (android&iOS) and have used this app for nearly 5 years now. It’s always an app I make sure I have downloaded whenever I get a new phone or device.

### 5/5 — Truly wonderful app

*2019-12-02, version 2.25*

I am thoroughly enjoying listening to these Old Time radio shows. I couldn’t believe how many are on it and being older myself, I can really appreciate the ease of using it with a simplistic, easy to understand, interface. I am so glad people are really trying to keep these little gems alive for all future generations to enjoy. It’s time to make supper and I am turning on a couple shows to listen to as I cook. Thanks again, and please don’t change a thing, it’s perfection.

### 5/5 — Such a great app!!

*2019-11-19, version 2.24*

I fell in love with these as a kid and would spend any money I received on purchasing these shows on cassette tapes. Tarzan and The Shadow have always been my favorites. Now I have added The Great Gildersleeve and Phil Harris and Alice Faye. Thanks to apps such as this, I got to discover so much more. For me, this has been the best app. I drive a lot for work and it’s so awesome to listen to these when driving. Unlike a 5 hr book on CD, I can listen to a new story every 30 minutes. I think these are such a timeless treasure and will hopefully never be lost. If you are the developer of this app, I hope you are proud of your creation. Bringing old time classics to a new generation. And allowing an older generation to relive theirs. I often wanted to record some of these and take them to nursing homes to see if the residents would enjoy listening to them. Thank you so much for these!!! Your app is awesome! Feel free to add Tarzan, just saying. Lol.

**Developer response:** Tarzan has been added to the Adventure category. Please restart the app for the new catalog to be downloaded. Thanks for listening and enjoy!

### 5/5 — Best OTR App Out There

*2019-08-13, version 2.19*

I’ve tried so many other OTR apps and none have the selection and quality this app possesses. I am really impressed with the number of episodes, variety of genres, and quality of most of the episodes. I listen to it frequently and I am extremely grateful for the app and app developers!! 🙏. Thank you!!

### 5/5 — A review:

*2019-05-20, version 2.19*

I appreciate your app especially Gunsmoke for it represents a truthful view of the Old West that is empathetic to the ungodly way this country decimated the Indians... It would be great without the cigarette commercials-But the characters: Mat Dillon, Chester, Kitty, and of course Doc are people I have come to love and find that if I don’t listen regularly I miss them- There’s never been a more realistic radio show or TV series before- Creativity seems to be dwindling...
