As a lot of reviews have said—now, almost everything is behind a paywall. Mainstream translations are $9.99 each, so (as a student living off of loans) I can’t even read a version I know and trust and understand, let alone compare across multiple translations. I also had hoped to share affirming Bible studies with my friend who’s being hurt by the “accepting” but not affirming rural church, but those are financially out of reach for both of us. Yes, capitalism means everyone needs money to survive. But there have been other suggestions, including tiers, ads, or free samples/featured studies as advertised.

I click a bible version and it takes me to the first book of the Bible. There doesn’t seem to be a table of contents. I can’t click to go to another book. That makes it pretty useless to me.

I was so excited to find this app and to read some devotionals that had perspectives I usually don’t see!! But like the other reviewers have said, the app has way too many premium only content and is 8.99 a month. I wasn’t sold on the three devotionals open for me, and since there’s no trial period, I’ll probably delete the app. Especially since it seems there hasn’t been much attention on the reviews.

I’m disappointed but it was still nice to see as an app. Great idea, wish it was more accessible, understand that y’all need to get money somehow.

umm so, i downloaded this app because i read that it was a affirming and inclusive bible app for LGBTAI2S+ community. the app is poorly made, and cannot function properly. the bible should be behind a subscription. this app and ALL its features should be free… this app needs to be open and accessible to everyone… i like the idea of this app but it was poorly made and executed. honestly, i felt really hurt that i have to pay to read about our faith and the content of the affirming app…

There are some refreshing topics in here (especially regarding race), but there seems to be a lot of bashing against our more conservative brothers/sisters. 

If a devotional series on an ancient Middle Eastern book lines up with a modern, American (Western) worldview/movement it’s a cause for concern.  Others are very Republican (not great).  These come across as advicacy points for the Democratic Socialists of America dressed up in Biblical language (again, not great).

Let’s deconstruct the right stuff, folx.

I’m so glad a Bible app like this exists! I’m a LGBTQ+ Christian and I love that I can see people like me! There are a few gripes I have with this app though. First, and I understand why this is done, but I think there are too many premium devotionals and not enough free ones. I think it is important to support an app like this, but for the people who can’t support the app monetarily but could really use the devotionals, it’s a bit disappointing. The other thing, which is a technical error, is that I’m not able to join the LGBTQ+ Christian chat group. I was able to join other groups but every time I try to access the LGBTQ+ Christian chat it won’t change from the white join button to the purple chat button. Overall though, I really like that an app like this is available, and I do recommend it despite the things I don’t like about it. Thank you, Our Bible!

I got in on the ground floor, so to speak and really enjoyed the relevant, progressive content. But over time, less and less was available to those who weren’t paid subscribers. And the emails about the latest content seldom contained much for those who were trying to make it work for free. You don’t *have to* pay, but you’ll get precious little if you don’t.

I gave the app 3 stars mainly because it is no longer working for me. It won’t even open. Maybe there needs to be an update? 

The other, less important, reason  is that sometimes the “free content” isn’t really free. However, I do love that this is a progressive alternative to the typical right wing Christian literature.

I’ve subscribed and have been using this app for several months and really like it. Now, I can’t get it to open. I thought it was my phone, but now I see that the last version update was a year ago. Two stars because it’s a good app and worth the subscription, if only it works. Please fix the bug or I’ll be unsubscribing.

I’ve been exploring deconstruction and integrating interfaith practices and mystic spirituality and was glad to find an app that has space for it all. Downside is the paywall, and the app lacks some basic features. You’re able to “heart” items, but there’s no easy way to find or pull up the things you heart, and you can’t set your favorite bible version as your default.

From what I’ve heard I thought this might be an interesting app.
ALL of the articles (yes, even the „free this month“ ones?!?) require a subscription. The app also has podcasts and of course you can read different versions of the Bible, both of which are free. You can’t take notes or highlight like you can in other apps so there’s not a lot actually offered without a subscription to make it worthwhile. It might be useful if you want a list of podcasts to listen to or a convenient all-in-one-place library, but with all the other ways to listen to podcasts that isn’t really a draw, especially on its own.

From what I can tell there’s no trial or trial material in the app which doesn’t convince me to subscribe. The interactions don’t seem to be buggy or particularly difficult however so if you want to subscribe there shouldn’t be any issues there.

I’m really grateful that this app exists. However, like many other users have commented, I’m finding it very hard to decide if this is an app that I want to use on a regular basis. There is almost no free content to help us discover if we would like to pay for the monthly subscription. With so many different apps and services that I am paying for monthly, I need to be judicious about what I choose to sign up for.It would be great if you offered more free content. Perhaps you could do this on a rotating basis, opening up certain plans or devotionals for a short periods of time. Or, perhaps a week long feee trial? This way new users could get the sense of how the interface works once subscribed and can also assess whether the offerings are relevant and/or resonant.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a bit ironic that an app so focused on decolonization and inclusion seems to have a capitalistic and exclusionary business model?

It is ridiculous to expect people to pay for a bible app. Especially something that is meant to be available to people who are deconstructing and need a safe place to connect with likeminded communities but can’t unless they subscribe for premium. Maybe you guys need to rethink your priorities.

I was very excited for this app but it doesn’t even work. I open the app and the the loading wheel just spins forever. I can’t click on any of the studies or articles. I even tried deleting and reinstalling and it made no difference. Very disappointing.

I downloaded this app soon after it originally came out and I actually had a premium subscription that first year. But when it came time for my renewal, the price had gone up and it was just too unaffordable. I thought I would redownload it now and see if they'd gotten enough pushback and lowered the price, but instead the price has gone UP since the last time, and now there are NO free devos—their website is still advertising five free devos per month and a $4.99/month price point, but now there are no free devos and it's $8.99 per month. It's honestly sad, because there are a lot of marginalized people out there who really need this kind of content in the face of mainstream exclusionary Christianity, but they're being priced out here. If the subscription price was lower or if they offered tiers, they'd be more likely to have more people subscribing and they'd still be bringing in the same amount of revenue. But as it stands, looks like I'm deleting again.

This looked super promising, but it requires a subscription that I can’t even find or attempt to subscribe to. I have gone into the subscribe section of the app but it’s completely blank and stays that way. There is no option to actually subscribe with no pricing available. I would love to try some of the devotionals, but the paywall is preventing that.

You can find teachings on myriad subjects from so many perspectives—especially those voices often overlooked and ignored. 
queer and BIPOC folks are not just represented and/or welcome here but are centered and it’s...fantastic.

Through my growth in my relationship with God, I’ve always strived for answers and security in being LGBT. In my bible app, I couldn’t find any devotionals for this and it really was disheartening. In downloading this app, the FIRST thing that came up was an LGBT+ devotional! I started crying, it was a message from God.

I haven’t seen anything else like this out there. The content covers a range of perspectives that typical app based devotional literature doesn’t even touch. There are many seasoned and well informed contributors. It’s the first Bible related app I’ve recommended to anyone at my progressive church.

This is an excellent Bible App - easy UI, plenty of versions easily accessible, not overrun with micro transactions, and free of the paternalistic evangelical voice too common in western churches.

As someone who has left the church, tried to go back, and had to leave again because of the systemic rejection of women, queer, and anyone “other” this is a breath of fresh air and safe community to explore scripture and continue to grow into my best self - not who the church has over and over told me I must be.
