It’s a good idea, but terribly carried out. Had frequent scheduling issues that our expert was unable to resolve due to software limitations. My real issue is OurRitual refunded my subscription after I asked for documentation of admissions to crimes committed against me while in sessions. OR may be well suited for some couples learning how to communicate, but if you have been subjected to domestic battery or assault, stay away from OR and get a lawyer. **Developer response:** We hear you and we're genuinely sorry our service wasn't the right fit this time. If there's anything more we can do, please reach us at escalation-management@ourritual.com. ### 1/5 — A waste of time and money *2026-06-24* While I genuinely enjoyed my 3-month therapy sessions, the app was consistently glitchy throughout. When I was ready to end my subscription, I communicated directly with my therapist, who confirmed I was all set after the paid period — no further action needed on my part. Instead, I was charged again for a service I’m no longer using, on an app I can no longer even access, without my authorization. I’ve now spent over a month trying to resolve this with customer service, and I’m no closer to a resolution. Every interaction ends with “we’re escalating it” and “please wait” — with nothing to show for it. The billing practices are deceptive, the customer service is the worst I’ve experienced since first downloading the app, and the app itself still doesn’t function reliably. 0/10. We genuinely look forward to making this right for you! ### 1/5 — Deceptive and hidden pricing *2026-06-22* Having tried Our Ritual for 6 months, I’m extremely disappointed by the deceptive pricing and hidden price escalations for subscriptions within the app. My experience with the Therapist on the app has been wonderful but every month the subscription renews at a higher price even though I was locked into a fixed price 6-month subscription. Please contact us at support@ourritual.com with your account email, we'll personally take care of this for you. ### 2/5 — App is SO buggy and support is SO slow *2026-06-17* Honestly, I wanted to love it as the price is definitely lower versus competitors but the app is so buggy. Constantly during our initial 4 week plan we kept losing access to the group chat with our provider. We were told to just email support about it. Support took well over a week to respond to our first support inquiry. Then there doesn’t seem to be any easy way to access the session as a group as you can only access everything via the mobile app (not on a desktop) so you waste precious minutes of your already short 40 minute session just working out receiving a Zoom link from your provider so that everyone in a couples session can access the call. The homework/pathway work for couples is very canned and a bit AI feeling. It’s not terrible but it certainly is not personalized in any sort of a way. It’s just predetermined homework that every couple would receive for a very broad subject like “Communication Issues” for example. Then there were multiple times during our first 4 weeks that we had to uninstall and reinstall the app just to get the update so that the app would function at all as it doesn’t give a simple update option within the App Store. On top of all of this…whenever we decided not to continue with this service and tried to cancel our account, we were unable to do so automatically despite that this is how it’s advertised “Cancel anytime” but we actually had to email the very slow responding support to get this done. I’m glad I didn’t wait until the last minute or we’d have been charged again while waiting for support to cancel our subscription. The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that we did like our provider fine but overall the entire app experience is enough of a nightmare to justify avoiding this and paying a higher price elsewhere for sure. **Developer response:** Hi! At the end of our second session we told the therapist that we need to pause and we agreed on the plan but I did not know I have to pause from the app and my therapist did not inform me. Monthly charges continued till I figured out I have to do that in the app. The therapist was not helpful and just agreed with whatever we said. ### 1/5 — Terrible Refund and Billing Process - BEWARE *2026-05-05, version 4.36.0* I wanted this to work, which makes the experience that much more frustrating. My main issue is with the billing and refund process. The cancellation terms are not made clearly upfront, and when I reached out about a refund for sessions I barely used, I was denied and pointed to fine print buried in their Terms of Use. No goodwill, no flexibility, no attempt to meet me halfway. I’ve since escalated formally (ticket CS-22711) and made clear I’m prepared to dispute the charge with my card issuer and file complaints with the FTC and Maryland Attorney General if this isn’t resolved. I’d rather not go that route — but their customer service has given me no other option. If you’re considering OurRitual, go in knowing that the 14-day money-back guarantee has conditions that aren’t prominently disclosed, and that getting a refund — even for unused sessions — is an uphill battle. Proceed with caution. ### 5/5 — Wonderful Platform *2026-04-22* I love the way Our Ritual uses a variety of tools, from educational videos to journaling emotions to meeting with an expert, in order to learn and achieve goals. ### 1/5 — Don’t do it *2026-04-15, version 4.33.0* This is coaching marketed as therapy. It’s not actually cheaper or more effective than therapy. If you’re comparing prices compare it to a life coach. Hard to connect or feel understood online with such short sessions and not a lot of baseline understanding of who we were. Getting billing issues addressed was wildly complicated and frustrating. The videos are decent but it also feels like content you could just get from YouTube and then discuss after. The frameworks make sense. And meeting weekly - my partner and I are in a rhythm of doing that to check in meaningfully which I like. The cost and how this is marketed do not make sense.
