## What is Outernet?

Your group chat deserves better than a group text.

Outernet is a private space for the people you actually talk to — your family, your best friends, your crew. Every group gets two things: a chat, and a feed of its own.

THE CHAT
Fast, familiar messaging with the people you choose. Photos, reactions, and Outernet itself in the room when you want it — mention it to ask for something, or just talk to each other.

THE FEED
Every group has its own feed: articles, videos, and finds picked for that group by Outernet. It pays attention to what your group actually cares about, learns from what lands and what gets scrolled past, and gets sharper the longer you use it. Members can post into the feed too — drop a link or photos, and it lives alongside everything else. Like it, talk about it, save it for later.

NO AUDIENCE
There are no public posts, no followers, and no strangers. Nothing shared in a group leaves the group.

MADE FOR YOUR PEOPLE
Sign in with your phone number, start a group, and invite the people who matter. Tell Outernet what the group is about — or let it figure that out from what you love.

Groups are invite-only. Start one for the people you'd send this stuff to anyway.

Group activity. Each group's info screen now shows what's been happening in that group.

Smoother video. Tap to pause or resume, videos return to their cover when they finish, and playback stops when you leave a screen.

Better photo posts. Page dots on multi-image posts, and swiping through them no longer interrupts scrolling the feed.

Easier navigation. Tap a post's group label to jump straight to that group.

Plus larger group labels and other small fixes.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-08

One feed for all your groups. Outernet now opens on a single feed across every group you're in, with each post labeled so you always know which group it came from. Tap the list toggle to jump to any one group.

Short videos play as you scroll. Video posts start quietly in place; tap for sound. Turn this off anytime with iOS's Auto-Play Video Previews setting.

Links look like links. Share a link in chat and it shows up as a preview card instead of a bare URL.

Plus: a dot on the group list when you've been added to a new group, slightly larger message text, and small fixes throughout.
