### 3/5 — Keeps Crashing

*2026-08-31, version 25*

Honestly this game is a 5 stars from me IF I could play it. I had one sandbox save that kept crashing to the point it was unplayable. I couldn’t even get one minute of playtime on that save. When I created a new save, it ran smooth until my population got to around 120. It keeps crashing, so I have to keep opening up or restarting the app just to get about 2-3 minutes of playtime.

I’ve had 4 saves total that kept crashing and got desperate enough to delete two of my saves to see if I could run my latest one, but it still crashes. It would be nice to play my saves again.

### 3/5 — Fun sequel!

*2026-08-30, version 25*

This was a fun game at first, but as it moved away from campaigns and towards more frequent but repetitive content, it’s gotten boring. Challenges were a mixed bag; the original ones are fun, the bounty ones are awful. Tournaments are worse. I miss the quirky storylines and weird characters driving weird goals.

### 2/5 — All good things must come to an end

*2026-08-29, version 25*

The game is now boring. If you’ve never played, do it—so, so fun to do the campaign the first time. Extremely worth it. But now the new tournament mode is all that is left for longtime players and changes this from economy/strategy to a luck-based card game, and limits creativity terribly. Too bad but it really was a fantastic game before this. I guess they want a new audience? I’d love to know what metrics they saw that encouraged this, just out of curiosity after enjoying it so long, to understand such a radical change. Well-designed challenges every 3 days (take your time to keep it fun!) would’ve been more beloved by the players I know. I wish devs had saved their “card game” lucky-draw idea for a spin-off, some separate game, or trialed it a bit, not replacing what worked here. Feels like a kids’ version of what was a great game. I don’t play this card game anymore but thankfully Civ is out on Arcade now!!

### 4/5 — Great game, crashes a lot

*2026-08-26, version 25*

I love this game so much! The only problem I have is that if I try to do a large map in sandbox mode (or the campaigns) there is a point where the game crashes. Sometimes I can’t even load it up again.

It used to do this in the first Outlanders game even on my gaming PC. I’ll have to pay for 2 there and check it out.

### 2/5 — Crashes constantly

*2026-08-25, version 25*

I love this game but it’s nearly impossible to play because it crashes every couple minutes

### 4/5 — My save isn’t loading

*2026-08-22, version 25*

For some reason it won’t let me get back into my sandbox save it’s been working just fine for the past two weeks I tried restarting the game but is still doesn’t work every time it just kicked me out of the game completely. so my only option is to either restart all over again which is just frustrating. but I still love the game so I hope you can fix whatever happened. Because I wouldn’t want to have to my save every time I get far into it

### 3/5 — Game keeps crashing

*2026-08-18, version 25*

I love this game so so much but the past couple years, every time I try to play this game, it crashes. No matter what I try to do. On my iPhone 10. It’s updated. Pls fix this

### 3/5 — Love this game

*2026-08-16, version 25*

But it keeps crashing in sandbox mode :/

### 4/5 — My save isn’t loading

*2026-08-16, version 25*

For some reason it won’t let me get back into my sandbox save it’s been working just fine for the past two weeks I tried restarting the game but is still doesn’t work every time it just kicked me out of the game completely

### 3/5 — Fun for a short time

*2026-08-09, version 25*

Campaigns are too difficult and requirements are not clear. The idea that “satisfy” happiness 100% is silly. Even the first couple of campaigns are hard enough that they quickly stop being fun.

### 4/5 — DEVELOPERS PLEEEAAAASEEEE READ THIS

*2026-08-08, version 25*

Hi so uh this game is great lots of fun features, really cool. BUT. IN. SANDBOX. I sincerely love sandbox and enjoy playing it. BUT every time I click my sandbox world it loads, freezes, and then throws me to my Home Screen. This is really annoying and I really want it fixed. Thank yoouuuuuuuu!

### 3/5 — Great until it bugs out

*2026-08-07, version 25*

I like playing the sandbox version once I get to a certain point; the game no longer runs. It’s like there is a limit to the data the game can pull.

### 2/5 — fun until it stops working

*2026-08-06, version 25*

179 in-game days, population of 80 and now the app crashes everytime i try to load the save. it was fun for 2 days but they shouldv built the game to be played all the way through. waste of time

### 4/5 — better than the original, but needs some performance optimization!

*2026-08-02, version 24*

absolutely loving this game so far! the quality-of-life has improved a lot since the original game; i used to get very easily overwhelmed playing the first one but i can happily say i've yet to get overwhelmed with this version. however, with that being said, there's a couple performance issues. once i reach about 50+ villagers, everything starts lagging. and the more villagers i have, the harder it is to move the map. not to mention, only 5 mins of playtime drains about 10% of my battery. i saw another review say the FPS needs to be higher for their iPad, and i'm playing on an older iPhone; so it sounds like there needs to be different performance options for different devices

### 3/5 — Too many dogs

*2026-07-31, version 24*

The game would run SO much better if there was a cap to the amount of dogs that spawn in. Even if there was just a toggle to remove them it would make the game so much more playable. Also just entity loading optimization in general would do wonders.

### 4/5 — Visual effects

*2026-07-30, version 24*

I think these animations aren’t better and sometimes even worse than outlanders 1 but I’m enjoying being notified on what your town needs

### 3/5 — Sandbox mode always flashes back!😫😫😫

*2026-07-28, version 24*

It was fun in the early stage, but in the later stage, the sandbox mode always flashed back and I couldn't get in.My device is iPad 11 (IOS 18.7.7）.Is it because my equipment can't carry this game?

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2026-07-25, version 24*

I liked these type of games, and have played many over the years. What I really don’t like about this game is that you have to start all over from the beginning when you make a mistake, and since the game can move quite slow, and there is only two speeds, starting over can be quite frustrating.Normal speed is quite slow, and the faster speed isn’t fast enough so you spend a lot of time waiting for things to complete. Some gameplay wasn’t explained well in the beginning such as trees don’t grow back, so I wasted a lot of time before realizing what was wrong. But, I maybe would have kept playing if I could have gone back to a save point instead of starting all over again and again.

### 2/5 — Ruined a great game.

*2026-07-25, version 24*

This game is a game I can sit and play for hours to destress, instead I’m hit with the utmost lag, on a A19 PRO that’s ridiculous, instead of focusing on adding new things and tournaments that half the players hate focus on actually optimizing the game and making it playable. This is ridiculous and this development team has totally lost they’re way from outlanders 1 so damn sad.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-07-24, version 24*

Absolutely love this game. I wish there were more campaigns but that’s my only complaint.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It’s Broken

*2026-07-21, version 23*

Villagers don’t work, they just stand idly around. They work a little in the beginning but once you hit 30+ villagers everybody just stops working for the most part

### 1/5 — Tournament mode is the last straw

*2026-07-10*

I’ve played Outlanders since the first game came out. I remember waiting with as much patience as I could muster the 6 months or so it took for new levels and challenges to come out, and once they did, I’d spend the weekend beating them, and then the optional challenges. This game was once new and unique and clever. When the second game came out, I was excited about the updates and new engine but quickly found that every level or challenge required a new type of building we’d only ever use once or twice and felt like some of the magic had gone from the game.

Then came the daily challenges. At first they were fun but it clearly and quickly became about how quickly you could win the challenge, even at the expense of the point of the game. It stopped being about building. I continued to come back because levels continued to be released, though they were never as fun as the first game.

Tournament mode feels like the death bell for me. I honestly hate it. There’s no depth anymore, no magic, no exploration. You perform a few actions and then just watch. Yuck. I hate it. It’s not fun. In the pursuit of new players or some sense of novelty, maybe, they may have alienated those that helped give this game prominence. It’s unlikely I’ll pick this game up again.

### 1/5 — Stop Changing it please!

*2026-07-10, version 23*

Daily player and couldn’t agree more with some of the recent other reviews. The tournaments is dreadful, the daily challenges were at least a nice challenge and something I looked forward to daily. Many days I would repeat the challenges to try ti improve my score. Finally seemed to be getting longer challenges on the weekends too, had to plan for generations of workers. The game was getting better getting back to what made my love Outlander 1 . Now we have campaigns that have seemed to stop or the rare update every 6 months, repeated challenges and tournaments with auto builds.

For myself and the many others I would see playing the challenges daily. This latest round of changes and forced rework of game play is just dreadful. The campaigns brought us to the game, challenges were daily fun but the campaigns have been missed. Now all we get is tournaments.

My 6 yr old on the other hand loves the changes you made.

### 1/5 — Not fun.

*2026-07-08, version 23*

Want new styles well your forced to play tournament mode typical app,e Arcade the more u play the more there paid JUNK.
SANDBOX MODE IS EVERYTHING UNLOCKED.

No locking themes to tournament mode means what there's stuff that was in this game prob but gone cause it was locked under a nuisance tournament mode.

No I'll wait till maybe one day this is on console or pc full & not with this lame gimmick junk.

This is why I barely play Apple Arcade made games..

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2026-07-03, version 22*

No matter what I try to do the game keeps crashing. Game and iPad are up to date.

### 1/5 — New update ruins games playability

*2026-06-26, version 22*

I loved this game, one of the only ones I was willing to pay for. I loved the updates and the challenges to do after you complete the main game. This new update has ruined all of that. I got a new computer to be able to play this and now I can barely even do that.

Constantly makes my new computer crash, never happened before this update. When you try to play the archived challanges you cant even view what the requirements are for beating the game, "roadwork office" pops up in the corner instead. If you do manage to complete it you cant even click the finished level button, you have to exit out and hope it saved how far you got. Half the time I think I'm almost done a level to see that it has a different set of goals than were orginally showed when starting the level.
Im sure this isnt even all the problems I've encountered since the update.
Dont think I will continue paying for Apple Arcade with all these issues, its pointless. This was my all time favorite game, it was a great stress reliever at the end of the day but new update RUINED THAT!

### 1/5 — No new levels

*2026-06-15, version 21*

Very very slow getting new levels out. Very frustrating when you pay for Apple Arcade just for a game….. and they do not update levels/game play

### 1/5 — Game crashes constantly

*2026-05-26, version 21*

So fun but literally not able to play because it crashes every two minutes. Especially when you have A large population. Please fix it is so annoying.

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2026-05-23, version 21*

Deleted the app about a year ago due to the constant crashing. Thought I would give it another go, only to find that the same issue persists.

### 5/5 — THANK YOU

*2026-08-08, version 25*

Thank you for the UI update for the Challenge Archives!!!! I’ve been playing through them all and I literally cheered when I opened up the new update. These devs truly love this game and you can tell with the consistent work put into it. Best game on arcade by far, it’s what I pay the subscription for.

### 5/5 — Love it!! Totally recommend

*2026-08-08, version 25*

Both versions are really good and I play them both frequently. I kinda hope they will come out with a ‘modern’ version, just to change it up a bit. Have a city, apartment complexes, supermarket and maybe all the way to a farm with transportation to the supermarket 🤷‍♀️

### 5/5 — Incredible game, I want more!

*2026-08-03, version 24*

I have been playing since the first Outlanders game and have been a HUGE fan of both. Like other reviewers, it was a big adjustment, but I am in love with this game. I do miss some features, such as decrees and builder's huts but I am into the new features. they streamline a lot of stuff quite well.
I do also BEG for more stories and campaigns!!! They're so whimsical and cute and I love how original they all are. Also, more designs for some stuff! I love customization and would like more options for that as well.
Thank you Outlanders team y'all really slayed and have become one of my fav. games ever!!

### 5/5 — One of the greats!

*2026-08-02, version 24*

I’ve been playing this game for years now and they’re always adding new things. I’ve actually restarted the entire game from the beginning several times just to play it again. Pretty awesome stuff.

### 5/5 — Fave game!

*2026-07-26, version 24*

My all-time favorite iOS game. So much fun and I love the strategy elements. I love the new tournament mode, it’s a really interesting way to play. I’m trying to be patient with all the new content from tournaments but I’m ready for more campaign challenges!!
