I'm finding it very useful for planning a project. Each aspect of the project can continue to be broken down into finer and finer detail through the layers. My only wish at this stage is that there becomes an option for some items in the lists to be checkboxes ### 4/5 — Good but could be better. *2024-07-24* This app is nice and easy to work. Not to mention that has helped me with my planning over the last days. However, developers please work on the following: - Drag and move notes without having to use the move option, its just too complicated. - Deleted bin ? - I just lost a list and no idea in how to recover it - Maybe a way to separate completed vs incompleted. Its also amazing the fact that you can export the lists! I Just wanted to reply quickly that 1) was an oversight and will be fixed in the next update! ### 5/5 — Love but...! *2024-07-16* Love but.. 1) can you prevent the splash screen from opening every time we open the app and instead just go straight to the lists 2) can you make for easier sorting by either category or alphabetically for example 3) widgets please! 4) can you allow 'Tap' to complete task and swipe to add a new list, also swipe to move items instead of long hold. 5) can you add three categories : "one time list" "routine lists" and "completed"! List? 6) color coding options would be great! 7) also improved search experience. With the ability to search for more than just hashtags and the ability to search for a folder to move and item to. As much as I like it, there are a few things I wish the developers would implement for future versions. 1. Ability to drag and drop list items between tabs on Mac 2. Options to add a checkbox/circle next to each list item to mark it as completed instead of having to right click or hold touch 3. Ability to customize width of tabs on Mac 4. Especially with the image attachment and tagging updates that have been recently added ### 5/5 — Love this app! *2024-07-12* This app if perfect for outlining my comic, the only thing I’m missing is a sync to icloud feature so I can see my notes on my ipad. It is also minimal, writing notes and organizing them is fast and it is overall everything that I’ve been looking for! Update, yay, syncing is fixed! I’m so glad this is a feature. ☺️ **Developer response:** The sync is now fixed! ### 5/5 — (UPDATED) App works great now *2024-06-16* UPDATE: The developers were quick to respond, and the sync seems to work now. In fact, updates happen within seconds. I’m changing my review to 5 stars. The app does exactly what it says it does, it does it well, and I’m quite happy with it. ORIGINAL: The screenshots advertise “pick up where you left off,” but you cannot. There is no cloud sync of any sort. I cannot get my iPhone, iPad, or Mac to sync with one another, which means this app is useless to me. Would have given it 2 stars, but I’m taking a star off for deceptive claims of a non-existent sync feature. **Developer response:** Hi Deg, Thank you for the review! Edit: The sync is now fixed! ### 5/5 — Great based and logical for note taking *2024-06-10, version 1.6* Would love a word search feature ### 4/5 — BRILLIANTLY simple but powerful concept *2024-06-07, version 1.6* For people who have a lot of stuff going on, this app is incredible. If you like your folder structure in columns, this is the notes version of that. I REALLY hope the developer continues this to make it full featured, so we can colour notes and their descendants, reduce the (currently large) note size for those with lots who don’t want to scroll for miles, export completed for those who have to report on their work, export notes to PDFs in well laid out formats, perhaps export a note to a mind-map even? The developer is on to something brilliantly logical missed by other note taking apps and it has huge potential. ### 5/5 — Scroll nested outliner app is brilliant! 💪❤️ Cannot wait till they get an apple Mac OS version *2024-06-07* This app is sheer brilliance. I have used almost every outliner that exists over the last several decades. It is absolutely wonderful for brainstorming and tracking what you need to do. You can also use it structure to create timelines. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Use to work great on iPad mini now it does not *2026-07-27* Everything on the iPad mini screen seems to be center justify, meaning cannot read any text to the left nor the right in any column. This app use to work exceptionally well on any iPad including the mini. Now it’s 100% useless on the mini because the user cannot read anything that has been entered. ### 1/5 — Great concept; bad execution *2024-06-09* The screenshots advertise “pick up where you left off,” but you cannot. Edit: The sync is now fixed! ### 2/5 — New update —after using for several weeks. *2025-02-23* New update have lowered rating down to two stars This app has a tonne of potential if the developer would just fix what should have been in place from the beginning. When you say an item is finished, it becomes completely invisible. However it’s still somewhere in the scroll structure (because it’s included in the count of items within the scroll structure) just not accessible to the user. If A user wants to edit the item for completeness they cannot. For that reason must lower the rating from 3 down to 2 stars. Would also like to see an item have a type of sub-item check list so that each subitem could be identified as open or complete. That would be very handy feature to have. Everything I said in original review still stands. Past several days have been heavily utilizing this app. When a user adds a photo- make sure to give the photo a title IN THIS APP, if not then it will not be added, although you can see the tiny icon there is no prompt instruction to enter a title. During edits- way too hard to edit in that tiny window. After struggling to edit the user then must go all the way to end of the text BEFORE hitting enter button and app accepts the edit. Yes, it’s still 3 stars for this second review. Yes, it’s 3 stars right now. Why? No color coding of the different outlines. User can only set the theme color for the entire app. I would like to color code each outline topic and have that color code go across the outline items. Started to add content, problem is editing long entires. The format defaults to a tiny edit window at bottom of the screen. Far too small and on the iPad it’s extremely hard to edit. Once edit is done the user is forced to scroll down to the end and tap the end point of the text BEFORE being to hit enter which accepts the edit. This is very cumbersome for a user if they are using the on screen keyboard. Another key missing feature is lack of ability to export press say on a web article and have the popup menu display the SCROLL icon. Please consider adding this function and feature in next upgrade. The interface is very intuitive so that’s not much of a problem. But where is my data and in what format? Opml would be great for import and export. Praying developer continues updating so we can use for many years to come ### 5/5 — The Future of Note Taking *2025-05-14, version 1.7.5* This feels like it should have been designed by Apple. No mimicking folders or booklets or sticky notes, just a clean and simple design with limitless nested notes. So simple, so easy to use and so logical, it just lets you create notes. ### 5/5 — A joy to work with *2025-03-25, version 1.7.4* Scroll’s a simple, straightforward & ultra-helpful tool for keeping notes & listing & developing ideas. If you upgrade (at £4-99 for iPhone, Mac & iPad, it surely has to be one of the best value upgrades out there!), you get not only syncing & unlimited notes, but a great choice of colours, too! The first thing I did with it was to list all the things I wanted from a novel template for the Scrivener writing app, then re-order them, expand on them & add a lot more stuff as well, & within 20 minutes I had a useable design for it. That might not sound like much, but I’ve spent years trying! And believe me, it makes my work much easier. Installation tip: I couldn’t immediately get syncing to work, but when I deleted & reinstalled the iPhone version it worked fine. I’d unhesitatingly recommend Scroll to anyone who wants to list information & develop their ideas. It has tags & gives reminders, too, so if you use David Allen’s “Getting Things Done” or any similar kind of methodology you’ll find Scroll an invaluable companion. Do give it a try! Outliner Scroll lets you create with ease. ### 5/5 — Outstanding Support *2024-11-15, version 1.7.3* A great little app with superb support. ### 5/5 — Simple, prefer over Notion *2024-11-05* I’m using this app to brainstorm content ideas - and I’m loving it so far! So many people have recommended Notion to me - but I feel like Notion has so much of a learning curve - I end up avoiding my tasks. This app helps me keep all my to do’s neat and it’s very intuitive to use! Also the support has been very quick to answer questions about using the app which is appreciated. Love supporting smaller app creators! ### 5/5 — Best App for Outlining Novels *2024-11-01, version 1.7.3* As an author, I use Scroll for planning my novels. It’s perfect for outlining, and allows me to add a lot of detail to my notes in a precise order and to every single book individually. I like the design and I can keep all my notes in one place categorised under the name of the novel instead of in a million different apps and places. ### 5/5 — Great Update *2024-10-26* I have been watching this app and am pleased to see a new update with bookmarks and widgets and a view for all reminders. Some ideas for future development: • Supprt links from URLs and ideally show previews of webpages too. • Share to function to share links text and images from other apps. • Tinted icons for iOS 18 (as well as a few more colorful ones to choose from) • Support callback hyperlinks (to launch links to content in other apps) • Full screen note view where we could write in an editor with multiple paragraphs for longer notes, articles or even journal entries • Option to show creation/modification date of note in a discrete way (maybe an info panel) • Multiple image support (and be able to select and add them at once) with ability to swipe them left to write to preview them (like photo app) • Drag and drop notes into sister notes to nest them (as an easier alternative to the move function) I realize that’s a lot, but I wanted to share those suggestions... All in all, It’s still a fantastic app for outlining and short notes, just wish I could use it for more of the things I would like to use it for ... and hope to see it continually be developed. Because it is a very beautiful and unique app. Keep up the good work. ### 5/5 — LOVE THIS APP *2024-10-15* This is the perfect app for capturing all my ideas in a distraction-free writing enviornment. I use it mainly for creative writing, but I have found it useful for other purposes as well. I also love that it feels like I am texting myself. When I found out that this app was on my iPad and MAC I was even more excited! Highly recommend. :) ### 5/5 — Brilliant app *2024-09-15, version 1.7.2* I have been an avid user of outliner apps for years but this one has really caught my eye. Simple to use and easy to use. What I like is the ability to set reminders and tags for sear bing. The search is pretty good anyway. Yes like all apps this can have extra features but the concept of it is great. Nice and customisable so you can set the colours that you like. The support is super fast and helpful. As said lite on features but easy and great to use.
