I wasted my money with whympr premium, Iphigénie, relief, but nothing compares to Outmap UI. Visibility is perfect, tracing ski touring routes is as easy as swisstopo. The ONLY thing missing is the accurate winter satellite layout. We miss that so much, but except that, my mountain adventures are great again. Please keep your economic model so you don’t end like Fatmap. Better features and offline maps take up way less storage. Some documentation or, FAQs, or troubleshooting instructions might be helpful. As it stands it does not do anything it purports to do. ### 1/5 — Not at all like FATMAP. *2025-05-10, version 4.62.0* This was advertised as “best replacement for FATMAP.” How can you say that when there’s no backcountry routes or data in here? That was the entire point of FATMAP. If it had been advertised differently without that utterly preposterous claim, I’d give a higher rating, but it wasn’t, so I didn’t. ### 1/5 — Bugged *2024-01-02, version 4.2.4* Adding waypoint crashes the app. ### 2/5 — Misleading claims *2026-07-03, version 5.14.0* Pro perks claim High resolution satellite imagery. However what you see with free subscription is what you get with premium, only difference is you can download. And it’s definitely not high resolution. And very steep subscription pricing only for downloading maps. Sad to see this becoming another overpiced subscription. ### 2/5 — Not even close to Fatmaps *2025-01-26* -Satellite imagery quality is well below that of Fatmap or Google Earth. -Activities traced on the map can’t be removed unless the entire activity is erased from the library. eg.If you do multiple activities in the same area, red lines will be all over your map, often overlapping each other. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. The satellite quality has improved a lot since this review, and activity trace visibility is something we've been working on too. You can now toggle off your library activities so that they don't show on the map. We'd love for you to give it another try! Feel free to reach out at support@outmap.pro if you run into anything. 🙏 ### 2/5 — Offline maps doesn’t work *2025-01-20, version 4.49.5* Seems like a great app, and it would be, but it says that pro subscription is not yet available and you can’t download maps for offline without pro… so no offline-ready maps available ### 2/5 — Worked once *2022-10-27, version 2.4.3* I used this once for a trail (Lake Constance in Washington) and it worked great. I’m trying to save a trail that the app recognizes but it will not work anymore. I cannot save the trail, open the trail, or save a plotted course of the trail that I created. When it worked, it was great. We used Outmap during our snowboarding trip in Japan, and it was genuinely helpful. The heatmaps were especially useful when visibility was almost zero at the top of the mountain and we needed to quickly understand which direction to go. The 3D maps are also excellent — the terrain detail and overall map quality are really impressive. I also really liked the ability to save maps in advance. It was super convenient: I could review the resort map on the plane, quickly refresh my memory on the lift, and when we were in areas with no signal, the offline map helped us get oriented faster and find our way back to the runs. It’s almost a shame that I don’t go snowboarding more often, because the app is genuinely interesting and makes me want to use it more and more.
