### 2/5 — App is terrible.

*2026-01-28, version 1.73*

In a day and age where people are doing more on their phones and tablets this app is not keeping up with the times. I have to go to the desktop to complete a majority of what I need to do with my child’s outschool classes, which is not the case in most other apps these days.

### 2/5 — Valued original platform; Despise the new model

*2025-10-07, version 1.69*

Our family truly valued the original Outschool platform. Over the past six years, my daughter took a wide variety of classes and tutoring sessions that enriched her learning experience. Unfortunately, when Outschool switched to a membership model, our experience changed for the worse. The new setup feels overly complicated and no longer offers the simple, intuitive, and time-efficient experience we once appreciated. Managing credits, tracking classes, and navigating the platform has become confusing, time-consuming, and frustrating. We would have gladly continued using Outschool if the original model had remained, but we have officially parted ways with this once beloved platform as it’s no longer supportive to busy parents.

### 1/5 — Extremely disappointing experience with in-app charges

*2025-07-23, version 1.66*

Bought $10 Outschool Cash via the app, got charged $19.99 CAD + tax — nearly 70% markup. No clear warning. Outschool blames Apple and refuses to offer any credit or goodwill. Disappointed by the lack of transparency and accountability.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2025-05-26, version 1.63.1*

I have never been able to use the app, it just keeps on loading and never shows anything. I have to use a browser if I want anything to work. It’s annoying.

### 2/5 — Not much functionality

*2025-04-30, version 1.62*

Uninstalling the app as it’s pretty much useless, and lately it’s also out of sync with the changes in classes. The idea is nice, the functionality is just very limited and isn’t there. Please make this app more user friendly.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-04-02, version 1.61*

This app is absolutely useless. The PC website is 100x better than the app. It doesn’t even show the classes.

### 2/5 — Teachers push woke agenda

*2024-12-15*

My kids took two drama classes and were a part of a Roblox group. The drama teacher spent the first 15 minutes asking the kids what their pronouns were. All of the kids explained if they were a boy or a girl but the drama teacher said “But what pronouns do you want to use? You can be a boy and go by they or she….” It was so indoctrinating and unnecessary my 10 year old was like “What is this dad?” We unenrolled. We got in another drama class and it was worse. The teacher explained in the first five minutes that she was lesbian and asked the kids what they were. Then in the Roblox club one of the leaders explained she was depressed to the kids and that she didn’t have very much energy for the class today. These were our 3 classes we took. No thanks.

### 1/5 — Cash balance is super expensive!

*2024-11-25, version 1.56*

They charge $14.99 to get $10 cash credit in the account, and when enrolling in class, the $10 credit worth $10, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

When you enroll in class, they force you to use the $10 credit (which costs you $14.99) to pay for 1-1 tutoring class of $48, which means you pay $53.99 for a private class. BUT, if you don't purchase the cash credit, just pay the lesson with your credit card, it ONLY costs you $48 for the private class.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CASH CREDIT?

Most importantly, the cash credit can't be refunded!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-10-31, version 1.55.1*

15 for 10 credit. Classes just load and load but don’t let you actually take the class. Teachers don’t answer after it connect 15 min later . How convenient the teacher leaves after 10 min. Just take your money. Highly do not recommend

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-10-26, version 1.55.1*

The app is not functioning properly on the recently upgraded iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 18. While the app opens, it fails to retrieve data and displays a continuous loading symbol.

### 1/5 — I can’t use it

*2024-10-21, version 1.55.1*

The app freezes almost every time I try to use it.

### 2/5 — Just use the website

*2024-10-07, version 1.55*

Honestly some of the worst app design I have seen for the iPad, I love the idea of having an app, but until this improves I will be sticking to the website

### 4/5 — A annoying bug

*2024-07-02, version 1.51*

Shure I’m the young person useing this but I know about tech and I know that there’s this bug for me thankfully my call yesterday was off because this bug makes it so I can’t get on it I have a class in like 1:30 hours and I can’t go on the app it will be super annoying to the website but the bug is when I try to go on it just force quits the app I have tons of storage left on my device my wi fi is good the website works but it’s annoying because when I’m playing something and I want to see how much time until a class earlyer than 15 minutes I have to go on the website which takes way longer even if it force quits me and I re open by double taping the home button on the device out school still force quits me off please try to fix its up to date to by the way and yes this was typed by kid less then 10 please just try to fix thank you and have a nice day

### 1/5 — A 50% surcharge for purchasing your classes through the app is crazy

*2024-07-01, version 1.51*

We’ve been a long time user of this company, probably at least four years. Normally we’ve been logging in through the web, which has been fine, but I decided to try the app to see if that helped my daughter launch her zoom sessions more easily. Logged into the app and then went to purchase a class, thought that based on what I was seeing, we were getting an additional $10 credit which I thought was maybe a promotion to get the app use up, which is not uncommon for new app launches. I was pretty shocked to find that they actually charged me $15 for a $10 credit, basically a 50% surcharge requiring me still to pay another five dollars for the class. What took the cake was when I contacted the customer service genuinely believing that this was an error only to be told too bad so sad. No courtesy was given or apologies for the inconvenience of having to purchase yet a second transaction to complete my daughters registration.

I’ve raved about this for years to people in my community and local mom groups with over thousands of Moms. I think after this experience, I may have to reconsider whether or not I’d be willing to endorse this platform based on how they handle a simple mistake like this. I asked for a five dollar courtesy to apply towards our account for future use but was told no. I think the failure of the company explain there was significant difference in price that wasn’t even an accurate transaction, is some thing they should’ve considered a lot sooner.

Do yourself a favor and don’t use the app unless you want to be paying 50% more for your classes and require additional transactions.

### 1/5 — Hi

*2024-04-11, version 1.45*

Hi heislx

### 1/5 — It’s a trap

*2024-02-26, version 1.41*

Don’t waste your time looking for real connections and lasting impact on your kid’s education. You will find yourself frustrated with bureaucratic red tape in the rules and conditions for using the app. This app is a meant for using one or twice for something silly like 1 Spanish class for your preschooler. I tried to have consistent classes for two of my children with the same teacher for the same class. Many many obstacles caused me to have to pay for classes we never received. The teacher canceled with minutes notification several times. She would not let my kids swap classes if one had a last minute conflict (it was the same class). She said it was against OS policy. I had a thirty percent increase in price after the first trial class. OS has a 48 hour reschedule policy but it is hard to find and reschedule on both the app and the website. I tried to reschedule a class one time with 49 hours notice and they still charged me. I could not schedule both my kids at the same time at a higher rate (2 kids learning a language at the same time and same level for example). We had to have 2 different classes. They could not be back to back (OS rule not mine) so scheduling was hard because I had to find 2 separate days for my kids to have the same class separately. You get the picture. They will switch to “credits” not actual cost to trick you into paying more than you think for classes. I found it to be full of so many traps to make life harder that even though I really liked the young teacher it just wasn’t worth all the hassle and cost. She ultimately threw so many rules in my face I was made to feel like I was a bad person for using the service to being with. So one less customer for OS.

### 2/5 — Not user friendly

*2024-02-19, version 1.41*

The app does not give much information. It is not user friendly, hard to navigate. Outschool as an institution is ran by idiots anyways. Took 1.5hrs for a simple solution. You can’t talk to anyone only chat. During chat they take so long to reply and sometimes give you the same automated reply that they’re still working on your question and will email the reply later. Copy and paste reply. It’s always a nightmare dealing with them. The actual class has great teachers! Wish it was ran by people who knew how to run a business or at least have a helpful app. Garbage

### 4/5 — Great app, but not for the teachers

*2024-02-18, version 1.41*

I would love a version of this app that was for the educators. It would streamline my teaching a lot and help me keep my schedule in order.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — New update sucks

*2026-04-20, version 1.78*

I have no idea how to find new classes with this new update

### 1/5 — Loopy design, greedy aspect

*2026-03-24, version 1.76*

They want to charge a monthly "coin" subscription even for one-time classes so you overpay, keep paying, and always have a remaining balance that you have to chase (aka breakage). There is no other option. Impossibly greedy, dastardly company, shouldn't be in charge of children's education. On top of that, their website appears nice but is actually one of the worst designed UX in years, good luck finding even simple things.

### 1/5 — Bad business model/team might kill Outschool

*2026-03-07, version 1.75*

They changed to membership required which is against their mission of free access to education forcing families to pay monthly instead of drop ins based on needs and flexibility. I dont believe this is a sustainable business model. Do better.

### 1/5 — Lost Customer

*2026-02-18, version 1.73*

Our family has been using Outschool since 2020. Loved that when our schedules died down, during breaks or when specific interests arrised, we could join a class at our leisure. Just logged on to do just this and found that users are now being required to commit to a monthly membership. The "credit" system is also extremely confusing and requires users to need to figure out how many "credits" they'd need each month in order to take a specific class(es). Membership can be a great option for those who are taking multiple classes or plan on using it long term but it's completely ridiculous for our family to do this and not have the option to just pay for the class as we have before. Very disappointing decision by Outschool.

### 1/5 — Used to love it, now completely turned off

*2025-11-22, version 1.71*

My daughter has used Outschool on and off for years, and I used to sing its praises to everyone. I recommended it to so many parents because it offered great classes at fair prices. I recently logged back in after some time away and was honestly shocked. The new payment structure is outrageous. Prices have skyrocketed, and everything feels like it is designed to squeeze as much money as possible out of families rather than provide accessible learning.

It feels nothing like the Outschool we loved. The value just isn’t there anymore. I’m so disappointed in the direction they’ve taken, and I won’t be recommending it to anyone moving forward.

### 1/5 — Fatal Bug(s) both in-app and on website

*2025-10-14, version 1.69*

I’m someone who learns on this platform.
On both the website and the application (especially), it does not allow you to log in. On the website it’s barely accessible. In the app, it’s not accessible at all. It is almost impossible to log in and it has caused me major issues with being punctually on time. I need the developers to fix this as soon as possible.

### 1/5 — Teacher no show 10/06/25 first session

*2025-10-07, version 1.69*

No notice at all! Just didn’t show up. Very disapponting!

### 1/5 — This is absolute garbage and shouldn’t be on the App Store

*2025-09-15, version 1.68*

Content is AI drivel sometimes delivered by a live person who will have the kids play garbage video games for half the lessons, and NO REFUNDS. Be prepared to dispute charges with your bank after you’ve been scammed by this company.

### 1/5 — Disorganized and not user friendly; filters are limited

*2025-09-07, version 1.68*

This app is poorly configured. It has no user friendly way to search for classes that make sense. Sometimes I can find a way to search by a specific time and other times the search function is completely different. It’s a shame because there is a lot of good content but one of the most difficult interfaces (both the app and the website) to actually use consistently. Please get someone to upgrade the navigation user experience. Both instructors and students are missing out on programming because classes are hard to find with such search and filtering limitations.

### 1/5 — Memberships Required

*2025-09-01, version 1.67*

I’ve enrolled my child in Outschool classes for several years. He’s enjoyed all the different classes and teachers. We had a day off for a holiday and I was going to sign him up for a social gaming class, but now the website says memberships are required, so drops-ins aren’t going to be possible without prepaying for credits. It’s a predatory change forcing me to spend more money than I’d otherwise plan to, simultaneously pushing business away from random drop-ins like I planned for today.

### 5/5 — This is kind of a problem

*2025-06-06, version 1.64*

If a person forgets to sign up for a class or the adult forgets to sign up for the kids class that kid should be able to still be signed up for the class for full pay if the kid is for instance the class is that 1:00PM to 1:10PM the kid should be able to still be able to sign up for the class this is the problem because we parents sometimes do forget to sign up our kids for these classes and we have to wear a whole Nother week just for the classes start again

### 5/5 — Educational and Social

*2024-02-09, version 1.40*

My son used Outschool for pre-school during COVID and now he uses It for help in subjects he isn’t understanding in traditional elementary school along with playing Minecraft with other kids in a safe and positive online experience under the supervision and guidance of a skilled and educated vetted adult. A wonderful experience all around!

### 5/5 — Roblox Gaming and Social Group

*2024-02-06, version 1.40*

My 11 year old boy loves this class. Ms. kait Tyrell really gets involved with the kids. She’s caring. So happy that my boy is in her class.
I highly recommend this class .

### 5/5 — Homeschooling GAME-CHANGER!

*2024-02-05, version 1.40*

I wish I had discovered Outschool sooner - it has made my life as a homeschooling mom of a special needs kiddo and his younger brother (who ALSO works from home!) a 1000 times more functional/effective not to mention FUN/interesting, and a 1000 times less stressful! Win win win - everyone is happier and getting more done! It’s a no brainer!

### 5/5 — Long term here

*2024-02-05, version 1.40*

Two kids have finished and are attending a few classes with great experience. Scheduling and time management are pretty easy too.

### 5/5 — Notifications are a game changer

*2024-02-01, version 1.40*

The notification function has been huge for our family. Helps my kids to class when I’m in the middle of a busy work day and don’t see the email reminders. We miss far less classes now and my kids attend almost all their classes through the app on their iPad.

### 5/5 — App is great. No complaints.

*2024-02-01, version 1.40*

We have been using the app for years now and it has worked as it should the entire time. We are so thankful to have access to such quality education online.

### 5/5 — Great Program

*2024-01-30, version 1.40*

The app works wonderfully for my kids and I, we love the curriculum available!

### 5/5 — Amazing app! Love it♡

*2023-06-19, version 1.25*

They are so amazing things on the app you can create a class or get in the class my mom sign me up for this Roblox doors class so fun!!! Also the essay class to so many classes that everyone likes the classes and has fun!!!
