Then I realized it only copies your original unedited photos. I spend a lot of time editing and I would lose all those edits if I had to rely on my Copy That backup. But I guess that’s better than losing everything in case my phone gets lost/stolen. I deleted the app and now use the native Files app to copy my edited photos to a USB drive. Easy peasy. ### 4/5 — Good app but needs some improvements *2024-12-22* I got the Samsung T7 SSD to backup my iPhone 15 Max Pro with 30,000 photos. The OWC Copy app works well , it’s fast and reliable. However, when selecting the destination I wish there were other options like Sync mode (copy only new or updated pics) and most importantly to be able to select destination folder by Year, or Year and Month. Allowing to copy Files , Notes etc would be helpful as well. ### 2/5 — Solved one problem, created a bigger one. *2024-10-21* It did manage to copy over 2500 photos successfully. Paid the $2.99 to remove the original files, but it seems Photos fights back. Now there’s 200gb on my Photos app that can’t be removed. No photos in the app, just a bunch of data that can’t be moved. No option but to go to Apple Support to get this fixed. More headache than it’s worth. ### 2/5 — Copy That *2023-06-16, version 1.3.2* Although the application offers a backup of files, it really does not accomplish what it says it can do. During the backing up of files, should Cooy That not find a particular file to backup, the process terminates. What the app should do is @bypass@ that file and present at the end of the backup, a list of all items not found or backed up. ### 3/5 — Glitchy app with great features *2023-05-29* Loving the design and concept of this app so far. I’ve been successful in backing up a years worth of photos with ease. I found it worth every penny of the premium price, but find myself feeling frustrated by the number of glitches. 1. The date picker window does not scroll at all, and cuts off the month near the middle. I sort my photos by month of the year, and find myself having to select the 1st of the next month in order to make it work since I cannot select the last day of the month as it is not accessible from the window, and this happens on both iPhone and iPad no matter whether the app is in portrait, landscape, or slide over. 2. The app seems to struggle with backing up photos that are stored in iCloud despite paying for the ability to export photos that are stored in iCloud in the photos library. I find myself having to pull up the photos in the photos app and forcing a download in order for this app to be able to copy it. 3. Crashes. Oh my gosh the number of times this app has crashed in the 3 days I have now been using it is staggering. No idea what triggers it, but it will crash at any point from launching and loading the app to attempting to perform a backup. Love this app, but it definitely needs some debugging. ### 3/5 — Works fine but crashes *2022-11-29, version 1.3.2* This app works fine on my iPhone SE 2, but when I use it on my iPad and when I start to transfer files across, it just crashes. ### 2/5 — Help *2021-11-17* Trying to download a updated file to my sandisk usb but won’t work plz help ### 1/5 — Worthless app *2021-06-19* This app is absolutely worthless, cannot copy to a flash drive, even though it says in the write up you can copy to any flash drive or external hard drive, that’s a lot of bunk, I tried two or three different things, and it would not work on any of them, says there is not enough power, so I am deleting the app **Developer response:** I'm sorry you had a poor experience--unfortunately, we are limited by the power supply of the hardware. Some flash drives, unfortunately, require more power than the Lightning port can provide. For these drives, an external (powered) dock may be required. ### 1/5 — What am I missing? You can choose or not photos or videos *2021-03-05* What am I missing? You can choose ALL or NOTHING photos or videos, a date range and that’s about! No way of choosing individual photos, no clue to size or even type of photos you want to copy. How is this any different than highlighting photos in the photo app and taping the share menu. It seemed so basic and incomplete that I paid for the upgrade ### 1/5 — Misleading and doesn’t do what it says *2020-12-15, version 1.0* It only gives option to select types of media to copy, so you can’t select ‘the photo or video you want to copy’ - you choose a category like ‘selfies’ or ‘videos’. Edit: it did offer it once after I clicked ‘copy now’ but now it does not go to that option (which should be prior to hitting the ‘Copy Now’ button anyway!) It won’t even detect my Mac when plugged in via USB and only gives me the option to copy to ‘iCloud Drive’ or ‘On My iPhone’ (the latter of which completely misses the point of copying things OFF my phone). Finally, in the ‘Copy Where?’ panel it shows the storage space on my phone and not the selected target. I expected better from OWC. ### 4/5 — Does the job *2020-12-15, version 1.0* Copied 2GB photos very quickly to iCloud. Useful as one of my backups. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with lightning cable *2020-12-14, version 1.0* Have iPhone 11 Pro IOS 14.2. Copy That doesn’t recognize Envoy ProEx with USB C using lightning to USB-C cable. (It sees the drive when I used app with an iPad Air 4 and USB-C to USB-C cable). When connecting iPhone to MacBook Pro running Catalina Copy That only shows iCloud. Currently the doesn’t work with my iPhone 11 Pro. ADDENDUM: ****. Talked with tech support. Requires a self powered drive for iPhone. I ordered a powered adapter which hopefully will work. Review is for paid version. I am using an iPhone 12 Pro. First attempt: Used an off-brand ExFAT formatted thumb drive to do the thing. **It literally bricked the drive.** The drive will now not open on any OS/device type including data extraction utilities. Bad. Second trial: decided to try with an APFS formatted thumb drive thinking toward data integrity. I let it run overnight. It copied a few photos, but failed about 1 GB in. Not okay. Will keep trying and update if it gets better. I have a flash card USB C adapter which I plug into my iPhone 15. It is easy to select a date range and copy the files. I like that files already on the Flash Card can be skipped making the whole process quick. ### 5/5 — Very useful program *2023-10-27* I am using CopyThat to copy pictures and movies from my iPhone 15 and my iPad to a USB C flash memory card adapter. It is great to backup photos and allows me to easily copy them to a PC. I like that I can select the date range and can skip existing files. I use my iPad Pro instead of my phone since I can just put a USB C drive in directly. Free version does the job, the small extra one time fee unlocks a few features that are worth the small cost. The idea here is simplicity. This app is not a full featured backup or copy app. It is a quick and easy way to keep safe local copies of years worth of photos. I don’t trust the cloud alone to keep them for me. ### 5/5 — Backup from iOS/iPadOS to SSD *2022-03-31* This application worked very well for backing up the pictures/videos that were on my iOS devices to an SSD. It just works. *2021-03-28* While Apple’s “Image Capture”continually crashes while transferring large photo libraries, Copy That just chugs along and gets the job done. 45,000 pics and videos transferred to Samsung T5 external. Get the apple Lightning to USB 3 camera connector adapter off eBay cheap then power the device through the lightning pass - through. Delete from device works - my main reason for this purchase - reclaiming space - just click and allow after copying is complete. A+++ ### 5/5 — A Godsend *2021-01-03* We can’t get broadband and work off our cellphones for internet. That means backing up to the cloud is difficult for us. Our photos are our most valuable files, and this allows us to safely archive them to a hard drive. Works without a hitch.
