It often doesn’t load and it needs to be opened and closed several times to get it working properly. This seems to be worse since the most recent update. It’s also incredibly difficult to navigate setting the device up to wifi for the first time. ### 3/5 — Camera was just hacked. *2026-08-25, version 3.40.0* I LOVE the sock. It gives me so much peace of mind. It’s the only reason I sleep at night. Well tonight, I am sleeping with the camera on my phone as a baby monitor as I do every night, I woke up to a noise coming through the camera and assumed my son had dropped his only and probably just needed it back. I walked up to the door of his bedroom when I heard an unfamiliar female voice speaking to him. This was the scariest thing ever. I immediately ran in there, unplugged it, and now I have a non WiFi camera on the way. I wish there were more security features to prevent something this dangerous from happening. ### 2/5 — Good sock, bad video monitor, buggy app *2026-08-25, version 3.40.0* The Owlet video monitor is incredibly buggy. Good when it works but constantly loses sound and video. Sometimes shows me still old images instead of a live camera. I have to close and reopen the app constantly to get video and audio. The sock is great but the camera is buggy and unreliable. ### 2/5 — Overnight summary doesn't work *2026-08-24, version 3.40.0* We have been using the sock for 6 months, however the last month the overnight summary doesn't work. Every morning we get the same message saying 'we are still gathering data from this current session'. The summary never finalizes. Over and over again. I have WiFi and it works well and yet the app cuts out. And has trouble reloading. It seems like every other week the camera disconnects. We use other cameras for our pets and never have issues. We have read the horrible reviews about customer service and will be avoiding anything to do with them. I encourage everyone to buy an inside ring camera over this pile of junk. The sock is also the worst product ever! Connection gets messed up on that as well. This company takes advantage of new parents and takes their money for a horrible product. App can't correctly send the message to the camera to toggle notifications on. Weeks of owlet support emails and trying things and they send a new camera. Was going to make a new owlet account to remove any chance of contamination and give us the best shot at success and now the app can't be logged out of. Its impossible. On top of that the sock started giving my baby blisters every single time we used it. When the app gives you an option to submit feedback, it conveniently is unable to submit my poor rating. I felt strongly enough about it to come to the App Store to review. For a piece of equipment that is this expensive, I’m frequently frustrated and disappointed. ### 1/5 — Never truly works when I need it to *2026-08-18, version 3.40.0* Picture this, as soon as you get baby down, after multiple tries, then, you open the owlet app. It reads "Owlet Cam Offline". Then it tells you to reset the camera, which requires you to reach over baby for 4 loud, annoying beeps. You attempt to restart wifi. No dice. You got to "customer care" which are just long articles, diverting you from speaking to any real human being. Do I reset the camera? Not successfully. I don't want to wake baby, and I end up needing to spend nap time in the nursery just clicking through support articles and figuring out what I need to do. Then, baby wakes up, and I don't have any more time to deal with it. I'm writing this review because this has happened to me 7/10 times, and its been irritating enough to make me regret putting this Big Brother device in my baby's nursery. This exhausted mom at nap time gives this experience a true 0/5 stars. ### 1/5 — Fickle & NOISY connection issues *2026-08-16, version 3.39.0* Flip a coin for whether this thing will loose connection randomly. When it does, it will wake your baby up by blasting every device nearby with red alert warnings. Or if you want to check on the camera, it will take 20 seconds to connect. After the recent update I have been getting a sock placement issue every hour, which wakes me and my newborn up. Fix your software or atleast check it before pushing an update. I had one of the older versions for my older daughter and was constantly losing connection on both the camera and sock (and I don’t have WiFi or Bluetooth connection issues with anything else in my house or on my phone). Then of course they made it so the older version wasn’t usable anymore. I have them another chance and bought the new dream sock for my younger daughter and can’t even get the thing setup. I bought this when my baby was three days old because when I got back from the hospital, I could not sleep. I kept thinking my baby would stop breath. Every night I checked my app and it tells me his stats it has went off numerous times whenever there is a misplacement issue so I know it’s working.
