## What is Own Lane?

Starting to run is easy. Carrying on is not.

Only one in four people finishes a beginner running plan. Most quit between the second and fifth week, and almost always for the same two reasons: progression that rises too fast, or an injury.

Own Lane is built around that problem.

IT ASKS HOW IT FELT
No tracking app does. Your watch measures what you did; this measures what it cost you. If a session felt easy, the plan moves up sooner. If it wrecked you, it steps back. Progressing more slowly is still progressing.

A REAL PLAN, NOT A LIST
Your week isn't the same session three times. There's a long run holding everything else up, easy days around it, and cutback weeks where the load drops on purpose, because the body adapts in the recovery and not in the effort. The final weeks reduce volume so you arrive fresh.

YOUR DAYS AND YOUR DATE
Mark the days you can genuinely run and choose which one carries the long run. Set your race date and the plan sizes itself to the time you actually have. If there isn't enough time for that goal, it says so instead of selling you a marathon in six weeks. From building the habit to thirty minutes non-stop, 5K, 10K, 15K, half marathon or marathon.

EVERY RUN, EXPLAINED
GPS, route map, pace, kilometre splits and cadence. During the run it tells you how hard to go without a heart rate strap: if you can say a whole sentence, you're right. And afterwards, in plain language: whether you faded at the end and by how much, whether that's normal, and what to do next time.

YOU AGAINST YOU
Milestones, which are what people actually remember: the first time you last ten minutes, your first 5K, your first full month without missing. There is never anyone else on that screen, and no leaderboard comparing you to anybody.

ON YOUR WRIST
Run with the watch and leave the phone at home. And on watchOS, strength, warm-up and cool-down too, guided step by step.

LEARN, WITH THE SOURCES AT THE BOTTOM
Nineteen articles on what works and what merely gets repeated. Each one states how much evidence backs it and links the studies. When the evidence contradicts what everyone believes, it says so: stretching doesn't cure soreness, asphalt isn't what injures you, and running fasted doesn't burn more fat overall.

NO FEED
No wall, no kudos, no followers, no leaderboards. That isn't a missing feature: it's the reason this exists.

FREE, ALWAYS
The whole plan to your goal, choosing your days, recording runs with map and splits, reminders, history, Learn, your milestones, your shoe mileage and sharing a run. And the plan keeps adjusting to how you feel whether you pay or not.

OWN LANE PLUS
Guided strength twice a week, warm-up and cool-down, race day, the reading of every run, the monthly report, the yearly report, your routes compared, your personal bests, heart rate and effort, and your next goal.

Own Lane Plus is an auto-renewable subscription, yearly or monthly. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and is managed in your Apple ID settings. Price and duration are shown on the subscription screen before you buy.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-09-17

The app now speaks Latin American Spanish too.

And you can keep a copy of your plan and your runs in your iCloud, so you can get them back if you change phones. It's optional, you turn it on in Settings, and it isn't an account: no sign-up, no password, and the copy goes to your iCloud, not to a server of ours.

If you already have Plus, "Your Plus" shows your plan, when it renews, and lets you manage it or switch to yearly without leaving the app. And in your first month, a few days before the charge, the app sums up what you did and reminds you when and how much it renews for.

When you set your goal date, the app offers one that is already set: December 31st.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-07

Alerts now sound with your phone locked. This was the most annoying bug in the previous version: the tones for each block only played with the screen on. Now they play with your phone in your pocket, which is where it lives.

Silent mode tells you too. With the screen off, iOS doesn't let an app vibrate, so that mode went quiet exactly when you needed it. Now every block change arrives as a silent notification.

Discard a session when you finish it. If you go out to test something, or you stop thirty seconds in, you no longer have to save it just to leave the screen.

Delete a saved run. If your GPS goes haywire and logs something absurd, you can now remove it: it disappears from your history and stops counting toward your records and trophies. Your plan is left untouched.

Easier to read. Text grows with your system text size, and during a session "Run" and "Walk" are much bigger. In the sun and out of the corner of your eye, that's the only thing you need to read.

Also: pausing now really stops adding distance, changing your training days no longer restarts the plan from scratch, and each block's pace is measured against how long it actually lasted, not how long it was meant to.

New icon.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-01

Your run no longer ends where the plan does. If you loop back home, it keeps recording until you stop it.
New in Plus: the map while you run, with the street turning with you.
Your monthly and yearly reports are now written on your iPhone.
Fixed: the subscription screen could appear to people who already subscribe.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-29

Trophies. Twenty-four badges across four tiers — bronze, silver, gold and platinum — for kilometres, runs, weeks in a row, your longest run, strength sessions and time on the move. You don't earn them by opening the app: you earn them by running. And you can share them.

Weekly streak. It counts the weeks you got out, not how many days in a row you open the app: rest days are part of the plan and shouldn't break anything.

Comeback screen. If you come back after a break, the app tells you what happened to your plan and offers you something shorter for today, instead of quietly rearranging it.
