## What is OwnTunnel?

OwnTunnel is a WireGuard client for a server you control.

Import the configuration your server gave you — paste it as text, or scan its QR code — and connect. Your traffic goes from this device to that server and nowhere else. There is no company in the middle. Not because we promise not to look, but because there is no middle to look from.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most commercial VPN services ask you to trust a stranger with all of your traffic. The careful ones publish audits about what they promise not to keep. OwnTunnel removes the question: we operate no VPN infrastructure, so there is nothing of ours in the path, and nothing for us to keep, hand over, sell or lose.

• No sign-in. No email, no password, no phone number, nothing to create.
• No logs. Not "we delete them" — there is no machine of ours for your traffic to pass through.
• No analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs.
• OwnTunnel makes no network requests of its own. None at all. The only traffic it creates is your tunnel, and that goes straight to your own server.
• Your private key never leaves this device. The configuration and its private key live in the Keychain, marked device-only: not synced to iCloud, left out of backups, encrypted ones included.
• Built to be read. The tunnel is the open-source WireGuardKit implementation from the WireGuard project, and public release of our own source is planned.

IMPORTING A CONFIGURATION

OwnTunnel speaks standard WireGuard: anything wg-quick understands, it understands. On iPhone and iPad you can scan the QR code your server produced, or paste the text. On the Mac you paste it — macOS has no QR reader to offer, and pretending otherwise would be worse than saying so.

If something in the file is wrong, the app names the line it could not read and why, instead of answering "invalid configuration" and leaving you to guess.

A TUNNEL THAT TELLS YOU THE TRUTH

WireGuard has no connection to lose, so an interface stays up whether or not the far end still exists. OwnTunnel watches the handshake rather than the interface: when your server stops answering, the app says so, instead of holding a confident green light over an internet that is not working.

KILL SWITCH AND AUTO-PROTECT

Both are here, both are free, and both arrive switched off — a Kill Switch that turned itself on would introduce itself as an internet connection that stopped working.

• Kill Switch cuts your internet whenever the tunnel is down, so nothing can leave this device outside it. Your own network keeps working: printers, AirDrop, a drive at home. None of that leaves the building, so blocking it would protect nobody from anything.
• Auto-Protect brings the tunnel up by itself when this device joins Wi-Fi or mobile data, and you can list the Wi-Fi networks it should leave alone. It cannot fill those names in for you and does not offer to: reading the name of the network you are on needs Location permission, and this app does not ask for one.

YOUR DATA

Where other VPN apps keep a sign-in screen, OwnTunnel has a screen that does the opposite: it lists everything the app holds, where it sits, and what leaves this device. One button erases the configuration and the private key from this device for good.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

A VPN changes where your traffic leaves the network. It is not anonymity and it is not magic. What OwnTunnel gives you is a tunnel whose far end belongs to you, instead of one that belongs to somebody selling you a promise.

Requires iOS 16 or later, or macOS 13 or later. WireGuard only, on purpose. English and Turkish.
