Most songs cycle through a small, fixed set of chords. Oyoroi Jam gives you buttons for exactly those chords, laid out as full-width pads you can hit without looking. No fretboard, no 88 keys, no chord shapes to memorize. JAM IN A KEY No song in mind? You don't need one. Pick a key and Oyoroi Jam lays out the eight chords it is built from, in the order a keyboard climbs and labelled by degree. You are playing in about five seconds with nothing to set up, and Save turns anything you like into a song you can keep, edit, and practice. HOW IT WORKS Add a song, pick the chords it uses, and you have an instrument for that song. Tap a pad for a clean chord. Swipe across it to strum: how far you swipe sets the note spread, how fast you swipe sets the attack, and which direction you swipe decides down-strum or up-strum. String Crossing, a third mode, sounds a chord one note at a time as your finger passes each one, so a slow drag arpeggiates and a fast one strums. Where you tap a pad sets how hard that chord lands, so one pad can whisper or shout. Hold a chord and lift to damp it, or tap and let it ring. Change chord while you are still holding one and the notes both chords share carry through instead of restriking. BRING YOUR OWN SONGS Paste a chord chart, open a .cho, .crd, or .pro file, or AirDrop one from your Mac. Oyoroi Jam reads the chords out of a ChordPro chart and turns them into pads, so a song you already have a chart for takes about ten seconds. Lyrics aren't imported: what you get is the chord palette, ready to play. PLAY • Six instruments, all sampled from a General MIDI soundfont: acoustic guitar, electric piano, synth pad, organ, bell, and bass (which plays roots and octaves rather than full triads) • Per-chord inversion control (root, first, second) when the default voicing sits wrong • Transpose from -6 to +6 semitones on the fly, each pad still showing its original chord, so you can match a singer without re-editing • Three acoustic spaces to play in: Studio Dry, Warm Hall, and Spacious Arena • A separate six-pad drum kit (kick, snare, hi-hats, clap, tom), sampled from a real kit and drawn to answer every hit • Record what you play and share the take to Messages, Voice Memos, or anywhere else you send files PRACTICE • Practice Mode works on any song. Set a tempo, time signature, and how many bars each chord lasts, and it walks you through in time, with a scrolling queue showing what comes next • Nudge the tempo up or down while you play, so you find the speed by feel • Build a real arrangement out of named sections (Verse, Chorus, Bridge) rather than looping one flat list, and duplicate a section when it repeats • Quarter-note, eighth-note, or syncopated click patterns, in four click sounds • Visual pulse and audible click toggle independently, so you can feel the beat, hear it, or both ORGANIZE • Setlists: ordered collections for a gig, with Prev and Next inside the player so you can move through a set • Sort a song's pads into the order its key climbs, one song or the whole library at once, or drag them yourself • Genre tags, color tags, favorites, and three sort orders • Export a song or your whole library to share or back up • Four themes: OYOROI Crimson, Classic Light, Cyberpunk Gold, and Stage Neon TOGETHER Start a Jam Session over the local network and nearby players join with their own instrument. The host leads, everyone else's pads follow, and each person hears their own sound. Host on a song, or just on a key, and everyone plays from the same set of chords. ON YOUR WRIST A watchOS companion comes with the app. Your library syncs to it automatically and the pads sound on the watch itself, so you can jam with the phone in another room. YOUR LIBRARY STAYS YOURS Songs sync across your own iPhones through your private iCloud database. Pick it in Settings alongside Tap and Strum and Tap Only. PADS THAT ANSWER TO YOUR TOUCH Chords sound the moment you touch a pad rather than when you lift. Tap across a pad for a wider range of loud to soft. Hold a chord and lift to damp it, or tap and let it ring. Change chord while you are still holding one and the notes both chords share carry through instead of restriking. THE DRUM KIT, REBUILT The kit is sampled from a real drum bank now rather than synthesized, so it sounds like a kit. Every pad draws its own instrument and moves when you hit it, and where you tap the pad sets how hard the hit lands. RECORD WHAT YOU PLAY Hit record in the player to capture a take, then send it straight to Messages, Voice Memos, or anywhere else you share files. Nothing leaves your phone unless you send it. PRACTICE ANY SONG Practice Mode is available on every song rather than only songs with a tempo already set up, and the tempo is adjustable while you play, so you can find the speed by feel instead of guessing at it in the editor. The click comes in four sounds now. PADS IN A SENSIBLE ORDER Chord pads used to sit in whatever order the song listed them. Sort them from the song's key, the way a keyboard climbs, one song at a time or the whole library at once, and drag any chord where you want it. PICK YOUR ROOM Choose Studio Dry, Warm Hall, or Spacious Arena for the space behind the instruments. The six instruments also sit at matched volumes now, so switching instrument no longer changes how loud the app is, and everything is a little louder overall. JAM TOGETHER IN A KEY Hosting a jam session no longer needs a song. Pick a key and everyone plays from the same set of chords. ALSO A first launch that starts you playing rather than touring the feature list, bigger pads that fill the screen, color tags for the library, a screen that stays awake while you play, tidier sheets, and lower audio latency throughout. ### 1.1 — 2026-08-18 Chord pads now respond to how you play them. TAP DYNAMICS Tap low on a pad for a louder chord, high on it for a softer one. Every tap used to play at one fixed volume. Mid-pad sounds exactly as it always did, and you can switch this off in Settings. TAP ONLY MODE Prefer tapping to strumming? Settings now offers Tap Only, which ignores swipes entirely so scrolling a long chord list can never trigger a chord by accident. SMART HARMONIC HELPER Pick a song's key in the editor and add the chords that belong to it with one tap, labelled by degree so the shape of the key is visible while you build. RICHER SOUND Slash chords now play their written bass note, and the sampler has a warmer acoustic space behind it. BETTER CHORD NAMES Keys and their chords are now spelled the way a musician would write them, so a flat key reads with flats instead of sharps.
