## What is Oyster Snob?

Oyster Snob is a personal tasting journal and raw bar companion built for oyster lovers.

REMEMBER EVERY OYSTER
Log the oyster name, origin, farm, restaurant, size, texture, photos, and your own tasting notes. Give each oyster an overall rating out of ten and add optional Snob Scores for salinity, sweetness, brine, minerality, and creaminess.

IMPORT PAST RATINGS
Paste an existing ratings list into Settings, review the detected names and scores, and add the selected tastings to your journal. Oyster-guide enrichment can fill in origins and flavor details while preserving your ratings.

FIND THE RIGHT ORIGIN
Search by oyster name and review matching origins before saving. This helps distinguish oysters that share a name but come from different bays, farms, or regions.

SCAN A RAW BAR MENU
Use a live camera scan, choose a menu photo, or paste menu text. Oyster Snob ranks the detected oysters using your saved ratings, taste history, preferred flavors, and size priorities. Unrated oysters receive an informational profile so you can compare the whole menu.

LEARN YOUR PALATE
Your evolving taste profile changes with every rating and repeat tasting. Discover whether you lean toward West Coast sweetness, New England brine, mineral finishes, creamy cups, or another pattern entirely. Palate and Connoisseur scores reflect how distinct your preferences are and how broadly you have explored.

MAP THE COAST
See the origins of oysters in your journal on an interactive map and revisit the regions behind your favorites.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, advertising, or tracking. Your journal, tasting notes, and photos remain on your device. Internet access is used to retrieve oyster facts when needed.

Oyster facts and recommendations can be incomplete or inaccurate. Confirm important details with the restaurant, grower, or producer.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-07-17

Sort your oyster journal by tasting date or alphabetically, with tasting dates now shown on every entry. This update also prevents stale scans and lookups from replacing newer results, makes photo and imported-rating tasks more reliable, caps each entry at six photos, and improves map framing for oyster locations around the world.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-16

This update improves data accuracy throughout Oyster Snob. Repeat tastings now preserve their individual ratings and correct photos, same-name oysters stay tied to the right growing waters, and personalized menu recommendations use origin-aware matching. Menu scanning, oyster lookup retries, map placement, imports, photo management, and journal recovery are also more reliable.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-02

Dark mode is now fully legible across the journal, scanner, map, and settings. This update also improves personalized menu rankings, processes larger oyster menus reliably, respects corrected map origins, protects journal data with recovery backups, and cleans up canceled photo imports.
