## What is Pace by Athlytic?

Pace by Athlytic reads your Apple Watch health data and tells you what actually matters -- in plain language, not just charts and numbers.

Most health apps overwhelm you with scores, rings, and graphs. Pace takes a different approach. It monitors 35+ health signals, learns what's normal for you, and only speaks up when something is worth your attention.

HOW IT WORKS

Just wear your Apple Watch. Pace does the rest. No data entry required, no numbers to interpret. Each day, Pace checks your health data and gives you a clear summary of how you're doing.

WHAT PACE TRACKS

Sleep
- Duration, quality, efficiency, and consistency
- Deep, REM, and core sleep stages
- Breathing disturbance tracking

Vitals
- Heart rate variability (HRV) and resting heart rate
- Blood pressure trends with AHA classification
- Blood oxygen, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature

Cardio Fitness
- VO2 Max tracking with age and sex-adjusted context
- Walking heart rate trends

Activity
- Steps with personalized pacing and goal tracking
- Active calories, flights climbed, and standing hours
- Time in daylight with weather-aware context

Workouts
- Automatic detection from Apple Watch
- Duration, calories, and heart rate summaries

Body Composition
- Weight, lean body mass, body fat percentage, and FFMI
- Personalized baseline ranges with trend detection

Mobility
- Walking speed, steadiness, and symmetry
- Step length, stair speed, and six-minute walk distance
- 8 metrics that research links to long-term health

SMART HEALTH INSIGHTS

Pace learns your personal baselines over 60 days, then alerts you when something shifts. Instead of showing you a number and hoping you know what it means, Pace explains it:

- "Your heart rate variability is lower than usual"
- "Your blood pressure trend is elevated -- the AHA considers this Stage 1"
- "Your walking speed has declined -- this is one of the strongest predictors of overall health"

And when things improve, Pace tells you that too. No open loops -- when a concern resolves, you'll know about it.

HEALTH PATTERNS

Pace discovers correlations hidden in your data -- like how alcohol affects your HRV, or how daylight impacts your deep sleep. Every pattern is statistically validated and backed by peer-reviewed research. No guessing, no astrology.

WHAT MAKES PACE DIFFERENT

- Conversational health summaries written in plain English
- Alerts you when something needs attention, celebrates when things improve
- All monitoring is passive -- just wear your Apple Watch
- Personal baselines, not one-size-fits-all thresholds
- Weather-aware context for activity and daylight
- Every clinical threshold is backed by peer-reviewed research

PREMIUM FEATURES

- AI-powered health assistant -- ask questions about your data in plain English
- Health pattern discovery across 35+ metrics
- Smart notifications when something shifts
- Step goal celebrations with streak tracking
- Weekly health summary notifications
- Exportable PDF health reports to share with your doctor
- Trend charts for all metrics
- Step pacing and detailed concern views
- Reads alcohol, caffeine, hydration, and nutrition data from Apple Health

YOUR PRIVACY

All analysis happens on your iPhone using Apple's on-device AI. No cloud uploads, no accounts, no tracking, no data selling. Your health data never leaves your phone.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t fit Screen

*2026-09-01*

So I tried to pair it with the other app but seems the screen for it doesn’t work with iPhone 17 pro max. Kind of a bummer I was looking forward to giving it a try.

**Developer response:** Hi thanks for your review but I haven't heard of this issue or am able to replicate it, are you using zoom or a larger text size? Please email me at pacebyathlytic@gmail.com so that I can troubleshoot for you. Once fixed, please consider revising your review. Thank you! Gary

### 2/5 — Needs more development

*2026-08-23*

I’m enjoying experimenting with Pace and particularly like the way it identifies longer-term health patterns, but I think there is an important limitation for serious cross-training athletes. Pace appears to rely heavily on Apple Health and, in my case, that does not necessarily represent the best available source data. For on-water rowing I use a Garmin watch with a chest HR strap, while for indoor rowing I use a chest strap connected directly to Concept2 ErgData; for sleep and overnight recovery I use Apple Watch data interpreted through AutoSleep, which I regard as my authoritative sleep source. This gives me a richer multi-platform picture of training load, HRV, recovery and actual performance than Apple Health alone. For example, Pace can tell me that my “cardio fitness” is declining and recommend more daily walking, while potentially under-recognising substantial rowing and erg training that is far more cardiovascularly demanding than walking. It would make Pace considerably more useful if users could nominate authoritative data sources by category, integrate Garmin/Strava/ErgData training data, and distinguish between general activity and sport-specific cardiovascular training. Most importantly, I would suggest not assuming that Apple’s walking-derived Cardio Fitness estimate adequately represents cardiovascular fitness for users whose principal aerobic exercise is rowing, cycling, swimming or other activities that Apple does not use to generate that estimate.

**Developer response:** Hi thanks for your review but from the sounds of it, it sounds like our sister App Athlytic might be a better fit for you? Pace was designed for users who might not be as sophisticated about their health and fitness or e.g. understand what HRV is. So you might want to give it a try. As far as Garmin/Strava/ErgData integration, these companies should properly sync their data in to Apple Health, the biggest company in the world and privacy focused, IMO it should be the central health database for our data instead of trying to integrate with every 3rd party company that becomes popular. Thanks! Gary

### 4/5 — An interesting health monitoring app with potential

*2026-08-16*

This review is based on Version 1.4.7.

Pace utilizes the immense amount of health data Apple collects and presents in a very convenient fashion. But Pace is more than just a simple compiler. It also does data trending to create actionable insights based on your own unique set of metrics. Your insights update regularly based on what’s happening in your daily life. For example, Pace could recommend recovery after you’ve had a hard workout, or it can recommend increasing your outdoor time if it senses you are behind what you normally do. It has actually shown how impressive Apple is with the data they can actually collect, since Pace itself is not collecting any data. I believe this app can be a powerful tool for anyone interested in keeping track of their general health.

However, there are several considerations. Pace is made by the same team behind Athlytic, which is another app that gathers the immense amount of Apple’s data to present health insights with more emphasis on training fitness. As someone who uses Athlytic and attests to that app genuinely changing how I think about training and recovery, I have to wonder why Pace is not being integrated as a part of the core Athlytic experience.

There is also the discussion of cost. Pace has an annual subscription of $30/year (if paid annually), which is the same as Athlytic. While this subscription price is not a huge ask, it seems to me that Pace does not offer nearly enough features to justify it having the same subscription price as Athlytic.

That said, I do believe the team has a vision for Pace and I personally believe they will be working in good faith to address these criticisms to deliver a good product (based on my experience with using Athlytic). Pace is definitely in the early stages of development, and now is the time to provide them with feedback if you also believe in the potential of this product.

My recommendation: if you believe this app has something for you, take advantage of the 1 week free trial and see how it goes. If you don’t like it, remember to cancel the subscription before the 1 week. I would also recommend reading the patch notes and recent reviews if you decide to wait for this app to be developed further. I personally think this app is worth using in its current state, but I can understand why people might seem disappointed with how it looks right now.

**Developer response:** Hi thanks so much for your review, but one note about the separate subscription and price: Pace was built for the user who may not necessary be as sophisticated about their health data as Athlytic users , e.g. who know what HRV is and can understand all the data.

So to try and build a much simpler app that only surfaces what you need to know about your health in this moment, it would be impossible to incorporate that into Athlytic, which is already a very sophisticated and full-featured app.

Along those same lines, while Pace may appear simple on its surface, under the hood it's as comprehensive and complex as Athlytic, its just that it takes the different approach of not surfacing all your data at once to review as Athlytic does but instead, only speaks up when something is off. And again this approach was taken to make the app easier to understand on first download. I hope this helps explain why the two apps are separate. Thanks! Gary

### 5/5 — Clean, easy to use, great insights.

*2026-08-05*

Awesome app, super useful for quick and easy to digest insights. It takes the native Apple Health app to the next level with dynamic trends, weather data, and analysis that can’t be found on other apps. Recommend to anyone who is looking for more than just the basic charts and static data from the Apple Health app.

### 5/5 — Pace is what Apple Health should be!

*2026-07-19*

My title says it all.

I really appreciate an app that’s not solely focused on strain & recovery.

Proactively notifying me of metric trends is wonderful.

I love the app and can’t wait to see how it improves over time.

### 5/5 — Amazing app and devs

*2026-05-28*

I’ll admit I had some reservations at launch but the devs were incredibly responsive and fixed every minor gripe that I had. The app is quite good for seeing your health data quickly and easily.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your review and I actually love your suggestion. Look for it in the next update! ;) Gary

### 5/5 — Another Athlytic Hit!

*2026-05-22*

I have been a longtime Athlytic user in combination with HealthFit. I stumbled across this new Athlytic app in the App Store. Pace is just right, your health monitor, I am really looking forward to getting to know this application.

### 4/5 — AI is Wrong and no way to correct

*2026-05-17*

So there is no way to contact the engine other than this, to correct wrong assessments. Or correct the course of recommendations. Seems short sighted or lack of support. I’ll keep people posted how it works out. The AI will refuse to correct actions and recommendations which seems really lame.

**Developer response:** Hi, why do you think there's lack of support? if you tap on Help and Feedback in Settings there's a long list of FAQ and way to message me any questions you have. Please do and I'll be happy to help with any issues you are having. Once fixed, please consider revising your review. We're a small team of 2 :) Thank you! Gary

### 3/5 — Getting there!

*2026-05-13*

Each update gets it a little bit closer to perfect. The last feature I need before I can rate 5 stars is to hide certain metrics on the “see all your metrics”. I don’t want to ever see my weight as I only look at that number once a week. I have body comp down at the bottom which helps, but please let us expand those and hide individual numbers. I can’t ever look at anything else in body comp because of that.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your review and I actually love your suggestion. Look for it in the next update! ;) Gary

### 1/5 — Awesome Insights to your Health

*2026-05-05*

Great app and insight to your health journey.

**Developer response:** Hi thanks for your review but did you mean to leave a higher rating? You seem to like the app but rated it only 1 star? If you have any questions please email me at pacebyathlytic@gmail.com. Thanks! Gary

Bug Fixes:

Sleeping Heart Rate: The 6-month and 1-year charts now use your actual sleep sessions, so awake time and workouts can no longer inflate your nightly averages.

Cardio Fitness: Decline alerts are now sized to your personal normal range, so a single easier run can't trigger a false alarm.

Thanks!
Gary

### 1.4.4 — 2026-06-16

Travel Recovery Profile in Health Patterns. Pace now detects your trips automatically, recognizes when you've arrived somewhere new or returned home, and learns how your body responds to time-zone shifts over time. After a few trips, personal patterns surface like how your first night home compares to baseline and how long your HRV takes to normalize.

The dashboard, widget, morning report, and Ask Pace now factor active travel into their interpretation.

Pace's travel awareness has been improved.

A few other small bug fixes and optimizations.

Thanks!
Gary
