### 5/5 — Best Breathing App!

*2026-01-05*

This is one of my favorite apps! Slow breathing has been a life saver for managing stress and recovering from bad nights of sleep. This of the only app I’ve found that allows you so much customization. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2025-09-22, version 3.11.3*

Powerful in its simplicity. Makes meditation easy

### 5/5 — Simple

*2025-09-08, version 3.11.2*

It is simply breathtakingly simple, easy to use and easily understandable.

### 5/5 — Additional sound feature

*2025-05-07*

Love The App!! .. could you add a sound feature that mimics the human breath as it inhale and exhale?

I find that feature in other apps, extremely soothing. However, I think your app is number one so if you could add it, that would be fantastic.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words! ❤️

### 5/5 — I love this app find!

*2025-01-13*

I’ve recently become aware of how important it is to be conscious of our breathing and one of the books I read recommend this app so I started with the free version. It’s a perfect companion in my fitness regimen.

**Developer response:** Hey there, sorry I didn't reply in a timely manner - between the holidays and some health issues in our family, I haven't been very responsive this past month or so. I replied to all emails yesterday, so you should have gotten a response with instructions on how to get the app on both devices (in case you didn't get the email, could you make sure you emailed me at hello@pacedbreathing.app?)

### 5/5 — It like you heard my complaint 🙂

*2024-04-25*

Thank you so much for the background play. The was the sole reason why I used other apps. Been a fan of pace breathing for years and was sad I couldn’t utilize this app because of the IOS limitations. We no longer have that problem.
Fantastic job. 🫡

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words! ❤️

### 5/5 — Excellent and Versatile

*2023-07-06*

Found this app after reading James Nestor’s book called Breath. Previously, I’ve tried other breathing apps, some with bells and whistles. However, all I needed was a way to count breaths to the tenth of a second. This apps does exactly this, and with optional sound/visual/haptic. Everything is adjustable on the main screen, while miraculously staying simple and clean visually.

### 5/5 — From the Breath book

*2023-05-07*

This app is fantastic. My wife and I dove deep on the Breath book, mouth tape and all.

I’ve struggled with the counting part of breathing exercises, and this app solves that. I can look at the screen to get started, and it even buzzes when my screen goes off, keeping me in check.

Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2023-04-29*

The app is super easy to use and helps a lot with my breathing exercises!

### 5/5 — So simple and elegant!

*2023-04-26*

I love this super simple app to help me track my breathing sessions. It does exactly what you need and I love the haptics cues!

### 5/5 — Easy to use / use it each morning

*2023-04-26, version 3.0.1*

Using this app after James Nestor recommended it in his book Breathe - I do 5.5sec inhale and exhale for 10 minutes each morning and I feel so great

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — very, very basic timer

*2026-01-26, version 3.12.2*

this app is very basic and has way too many ads/notifications. I understand, a developer needs to monetize their app. Having said that, I suspect it would have taken very little effort to build this one. It is a basic timer with lipstick.

### 2/5 — I like this app find, but…

*2024-12-11*

I’ve recently become aware of how important it is to be conscious of our breathing and one of the books I read recommend this app so I started with the free version. Later I realized the pay version with daily reminders would really be helpful. So I downloaded it onto my iPad. Then I realized it would be better on my phone but I don’t know how to load it on my phone without paying a second fee. I’ve emailed the developer twice but I have yet to get a response. Disappointed.

### 2/5 — Vibrate broken

*2024-08-30*

Used to use this app frequently, but the vibrate feature has been broken for a while now. Please fix!

**Developer response:** Hey there — iOS requires a few phone settings be set a certain way to allow us to use vibrate. In the latest update (v3.9.0), I fixed some bugs and also added notes on these settings when you turn vibrate on; check it out and if that doesn't solve your problem, email me: hello@pacedbreathing.app, would love to help fix the problem!

### 3/5 — Needs lifetime premium option.

*2026-07-18*

I used to love and recommend this app, but they need a lifetime premium option. Not everything needs to be a subscription!

### 3/5 — Love it but upsell ads need to stop

*2026-01-21*

Until recently I had nothing bad to say about this app. I use the free version, and it’s all I need. Lately, after every timer session, I’ve been getting upsell ads. They’re annoying. I know that I can upgrade if I want to. The app developers don’t need to bombard me with a prompt to upgrade after every single session. It’s thirsty and tacky.

**Developer response:** Hey - I’m releasing an update now to fix this (the Recap will be less annoying and you’ll be able to turn the Recap off from settings). Estimating it’ll be released this weekend. Sorry for the annoyance!

### 3/5 — Initial Options

*2025-07-27, version 3.10.3*

So disappointing there is only one breath exercise to try.

### 4/5 — Too easy to turn off

*2025-11-14*

I like this app a lot because it lets me easily set a time for inhale, the time for exhale, whether I want to hold after either the inhale or the exhale, and the length of the session. My only complaint is that if I accidentally touch the screen, it ends the session. Often I have the phone sitting on a table beside me while I breathe, and I will pick it up to see how many minutes have gone by accidentally touch the screen and the session is over. And I have no record of how many minutes have passed. I would like the app to have a different way to easily pause or end the session .

**Developer response:** Hey there, I’m looking to add a pause mode at some point, if you email me (hello@pacedbreathing.app), I’d love to get more details so I can design this feature well for you.

### 4/5 — 📝 DOES NOT TRACKING PROGRESS

*2025-03-08*

Love The App!! ..but could you update the app in such way that one can automatically track progress in iPhone’s Health Data tracker.

Other breath apps have this capability so I’m assuming it wouldn’t be that difficult of an update. 🫡

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words! ❤️

### 4/5 — Just what I need

*2023-06-17*

Simple and free!

Ramping is what I need. This app allows you set the start and end durations for each phase of breathing AND the duration over which it increases. It gradually increases the durations, accordingly.

Two needed improvements:
1. Make it easier to set the durations. The current dials are not the most user-friendly.
2. Make it possible to save more than one pattern.

**Developer response:** 1. I improved the dials, let me know what you think (edit review or email me!)
2. just added this (note: it's part of the paid subscription)

### 5/5 — Amazing tool

*2026-06-26*

Doing 10 mins of breath work in the am and pm has helped me so much ♥️🎉

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very good!

*2026-05-29*

I am using Paced Breathing app for the 5.5 coherent breathing Practice recommended by James Nestor. I feel that it is helping my nervous system., Specifically my hyper sensitivity to light, movement and sound.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-05-23*

A great way to get ready for bed. It has a meditative quality and it seems to improve sleep quality.

### 5/5 — Loving this!

*2026-05-09*

I love that I can dial in my specific cadence (5.8 breaths/min) with my preferred inhale (4.1 sec). I’m using the free version and very happy with it

### 5/5 — Excelent

*2026-05-03*

Use it for biofeedback and it works

### 5/5 — So helpful

*2026-03-15*

The guided breathing with timing is so helpful as I am leasing to calm myself down. I can close my eyes and just focus on my breath while the metronome lets me know gore long to breathe in and out. Thank you

### 5/5 — Breathe easy

*2026-02-23*

Its very easy to use and i have seen improvements in my breathing exercises due to adding this app to my routine.

### 5/5 — Calms

*2026-02-04*

It rests and restores my nervous system.

### 5/5 — Consistency is key

*2026-01-25*

I started with the free app but soon updated to the subscription. I love to be able to save my routines and track my progress. There are so many more expensive and complicated apps, but I think this, in its simplicity, works really well. And Mihai has been really helpful when I looked for help. I already shared with many of my friends!

### 5/5 — Great for timed breathing

*2026-01-24*

I use it to practice the 5.5 second breathing recommended by James Nestor in his book Breath
