## What is PacketTrends?

PacketTrends keeps an eye on the hosts and services you care about and alerts you the moment something breaks.

Connect the app to your PacketTrends workspace to see your whole fleet at a glance — every monitored host, colour-coded by health, with latency and packet loss right there.

• ICMP ping checks — reachability, round-trip latency, jitter, and packet loss
• TCP port checks — handshake success, time-to-connect, and timeout/refused rates for any port (443, 22, 8089, and more)

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.7 — 2026-08-22

Staying signed in. If you left the app closed overnight, it could ask you to
reconnect your device in the morning even though nothing had actually expired.
Your device credential is stored in the iPhone keychain, which by default
cannot be read while the phone is locked, so if iOS shut the app down and
something woke it before you unlocked, the app saw nothing and sent you back to
the connect screen. Credentials are now stored so they stay readable, existing
installs upgrade themselves on first launch, and the app no longer signs you
out just because it could not read them yet.

Alerts that take you to the problem. Tapping a notification used to open the
dashboard, leaving you to work out what had just woken you. An alert now opens
the host it is about, or the Incidents screen when it covers several hosts at
once. This works even when the phone was locked and the app had been shut down,
which is when it matters most.

Is it my host, or the route to it? When a host is watched from two probes on
different networks, the app now tells you which one actually slowed down. If
only one probe sees the delay, the host is fine and that probe's route is not.
If two independent probes both see it, the host itself is. It appears on a
host's Path tab, on the dashboard row, and in the alert. When both probes sit
on the same network the app says so plainly instead of guessing, because two
probes in the same place agreeing does not tell you anything.

Incidents that explain themselves. When several hosts slow down at once for the
same reason, the Incidents screen now groups them into a single entry naming
the shared network hop responsible, instead of listing each host separately
with no explanation. Individual slow hosts show a line saying where along the
network path the extra delay starts, so you can tell at a glance whether the
problem is yours or your provider's.

Also in this version:
- Hosts with alerts switched off are now marked on the dashboard, so a host
  that is being watched but will never page you is easy to spot.
- A clearer error when the app and server versions do not match, instead of an
  unexplained failure.

### 1.2.6 — 2026-08-11

Host detail gets three upgrades. Every range (60 min, 24h, Weekly, 30 days) now opens with a summary strip - one small square per check, coloured by status - so you can see the shape of the whole window at a glance before reading the rows underneath.

Charts no longer require rotating your phone: tap the chart button next to the host name to open the chart view, and the X to go back. Rotating still works exactly as before. On website checks, a new globe button opens the monitored URL in an in-app browser.

Also new: a System Events screen for admins (Fleet NOC, System Events) showing probe update rollouts, quarantines and maintenance windows; and Group Invites now lets an owner review a join-request code and hand back an admission code.

Please check: the summary strip on each range for a ping, a port and a website host; the chart button in portrait (and that rotating still works); the globe button on a website check; and if you use the Apple Watch, that the complication still shows the right status.

### 1.2.5 — 2026-07-30

Create your account right from the app — tap "Create an account" on the connect screen, pick a username and a passkey, and the app connects automatically. Exploring the demo first? A new "Enroll now" button under the host list takes you from the demo to your own workspace in one tap.

No more double alerts: Alert Settings gains a Telegram toggle. If everyone in your group uses the app, switch Telegram delivery off and receive alerts as native push only — all your Telegram settings are kept for when you want it back.

More alerts now arrive as push notifications: domain and SSL certificate expiry warnings, path-blockage detections, missed check-ins and AI digests — everything that previously went out on Telegram only.

Also in this version:
• Smoother chart navigation with explicit time-window arrows (◀ ▶) and minute-by-minute auto-refresh; historical 60-minute windows now work for port and website checks too, not just ping.
• Incident details show the host's display name, and tapping an incident opens that host at the time window covering it.
• Administrators can manage control-plane maintenance from their phone (Fleet NOC → Control-Plane Maintenance) — start probe caching before planned server updates so monitoring history has no gaps.
