## What is PackQR?

PackQR is a private, offline-first moving inventory for organising rooms, boxes, items, photos, QR labels and contents records.

Keep track of what you packed, where it is and which boxes matter most — without putting your household inventory into a PackQR cloud account.

**Pack together on two devices**

Use two nearby iPhones or iPads to work on the same move. One device keeps the Master project while a second PackQR device joins by scanning a collaboration QR code.

Choose to share the entire project, selected rooms or selected boxes. The Contributor can then work independently and offline, creating boxes, adding items, using AI Pack Scan, voice or keyboard entry, and adding photos.

When you’re together again, the Contributor returns their additions directly to the Master. The Master reviews the changes before importing them and can then start another collaboration round.

Collaboration is private and direct: one Master, one Contributor, no PackQR account, no cloud backend, no live sync and no third-party server. Sensitive Boxes are excluded.

**Optional replacement values**

Add estimated replacement values only where useful. Values stay out of quick entry and can be added later from Item Detail, Add values quickly or Review estimated values.

PackQR calculates quantity-based line totals and box/project rollups. When only some items have values, valuation coverage makes it clear that totals are partial.

PDF and CSV contents reports can optionally include values and totals. PackQR never guesses prices, performs external price lookups or claims to provide a professional appraisal.

**Protect Sensitive Boxes**

Mark any box as Sensitive to protect item names, notes, photos and estimated values with Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode.

Sensitive contents are hidden while locked, excluded from collaboration, and omitted from standard reports by default. Including them in a report requires fresh device authentication.

**Plan your move**

• Create rooms and numbered boxes
• Add contents, quantities, notes and photos
• Mark priority, fragile and needs-check boxes
• Search items, box labels, rooms and notes
• Use Move Day tools to find important boxes quickly
• Generate printable QR labels

**Faster item entry with AI and voice**

Photograph a household item and AI Pack Scan can suggest a name and quantity to reduce typing.

You can also add several items naturally by voice, for example: “Candles, tea towels, three mugs and a spice rack.”

AI and voice additions can be collected into a temporary Pack Batch so you can review and correct them before confirming. Nothing changes your saved inventory until you confirm it.

Voice input is currently available in English (UK and US) on supported devices. AI Pack Scan uses Apple Vision on device; every suggestion can be reviewed or edited before saving.

**Private by design**

• Core image recognition runs on your device using Apple Vision
• Voice input uses Apple on-device speech recognition when supported
• PackQR does not store voice recordings or fall back to online speech recognition
• Item photos are not sent to an external AI-recognition service
• Nearby collaboration transfers directly between devices
• No PackQR account or cloud backend
• Your move data stays locally on your device
• Backups are manual files you export when you choose
• QR labels do not contain private box contents
• Estimated values stay local unless you deliberately export or transfer them

PackQR also includes safeguards designed to stop an unexpectedly missing previous inventory from being silently replaced with a new empty one.

**Built for real packing**

Pack alone or pack together. Scan what PackQR can see. Say what it can’t. Add values only where useful. Protect what’s private. Review what gets added.

Keep your move organised without putting your household inventory in the cloud.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-08-22

PackQR 1.8 makes it easier to pack together, protect private contents and keep a clearer record of your move.
Pack together on two devices
A second nearby iPhone or iPad can now join your move by scanning a collaboration QR code. Share the entire project, selected rooms or selected boxes. The Contributor can work independently and offline, then return their additions directly to the Master for review and import.
Protect Sensitive Boxes
Mark a box as Sensitive to protect item names, notes, photos and estimated values with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. Sensitive contents are excluded from standard reports and collaboration sharing.
Add optional replacement values
Record estimated replacement values where useful, see quantity-based totals and valuation coverage, and optionally include values in PDF or CSV contents reports.
Faster, smoother launch
PackQR now gets you into your move more quickly while retaining its offline-first local storage.
Safer local data handling
Additional safeguards help PackQR detect an unexpectedly missing local inventory before creating a replacement, reducing the risk of silently starting over.
This release also includes collaboration performance improvements, recovery-screen refinements and general stability work.

### 1.7 — 2026-08-21

New in PackQR 1.7
• Add an optional estimated replacement value to any item after packing.
• Use Add values quickly or Review estimated values to fill in missing values without slowing normal item entry.
• See quantity-based line totals, box/project known values and clear valuation coverage.
• Create PDF and CSV contents reports with optional value columns and totals.
• Sensitive Boxes now protect estimated values as well as names, notes and photos.
• Sensitive contents remain excluded from reports by default and require fresh device authentication if deliberately included.
• PackQR never guesses prices or performs external price lookups.
• Includes final accessibility, localisation, privacy and App Store submission polish.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-21

What’s New in Version 1.6
More privacy. More control. Easier collaboration.
PackQR 1.6 adds new privacy controls and makes packing together more flexible.
Sensitive Boxes
Mark individual boxes as Sensitive
Protect their contents with Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode
Lock Sensitive Boxes again at any time before handing your device to someone else
Hide protected item names, notes and photos while locked
Sensitive Boxes are excluded from collaboration sharing
Share only what’s needed
When collaborating, the Master can now share:
The entire project
Selected rooms
Selected boxes
Only the chosen packing context is transferred to the Contributor device.
Continue packing together
After reviewing and importing a Contributor’s additions, start the next packing round with a fresh QR code. It feels continuous while PackQR keeps each contribution as a separate, reviewable batch.
Also includes privacy, reliability, accessibility and interface refinements throughout the app.
No PackQR account. No PackQR cloud. No live synchronisation.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-20

New in PackQR 1.5
• Pack together on two devices — pair a nearby PackQR device by QR code and work on the same move without creating an account.
• Work independently offline — the Contributor receives a local packing copy and can create new boxes, add items, use AI Pack Scan and voice, and take photos without staying connected to the Master device.
• Review before importing — when you’re together again, return the Contributor’s additions directly to the Master. Review what was added, resolve any issues and choose what to import.
• Private local collaboration — project data moves directly between nearby devices. There is no PackQR cloud, account system or live inventory sync.
• Safer collaboration recovery — improved nearby connection retries, clearer Wi-Fi guidance and the ability to resend a delivered contribution when needed.
• Data Health tools — audit historical records and missing photo references, with safety-backup requirements before destructive cleanup.
• Stronger local data protection — improved local database storage and upgrade handling to keep inventory and photo data together through future updates.
Plus reliability, accessibility, localisation and interface refinements throughout the app.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-16

PackQR 1.4 makes it faster to build an accurate box inventory.
• Add several items at once using voice input.
• Combine AI image recognition and voice additions in one temporary Pack Batch.
• Review everything together and confirm the box once.
• Correct AI suggestions by voice before adding them.
• Improved AI camera reliability and item-review controls.
• Improved Dark Mode consistency and accessibility of key controls.
Voice input is currently available in English (UK and US) on supported devices and uses on-device speech recognition.
