I have enjoyed doing their courses on the website. This app though is full of problems. Constant crashes, lagging when playing videos and very very poor user interface. It isn’t however. Functionality - zero, use ability - zero, usefulness - zero. Pointless app occupying space in my storage. When I try to flip the pages it does not go to the next page, it seems to skip to the next section. Books/reading gets broken as soon as you are offline. After contacting Packt, they mentioned that they don’t have plans for updates. Why can’t you do anything with the heart it’s always something. I have been a loyal subscriber but you don’t seem to be loyal to the people that support you. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 4/5 — Good reader with some issues *2024-12-17* Handy reader when I need to read a Packt book on my iPhone. A few issues - 1) in dark mode picture with background is invisible; 2) left most part of some pictures are cut off in iPhone app. They show correctly in downloaded PDF. ### 4/5 — App is good *2023-06-29* It has everything except the playlists feature, which would be a nice addition. The font size can be increased, which is very useful. The UX of the book view is decent, but it could benefit from some mechanism of continuing where the user left off within the same chapter section. Currently we have to scroll the page which can take quite a few gestures. The table of contents is a big help though. Thanks! ### 3/5 — Content there. Not much else. *2024-05-01, version 1.9.5* I first tried this application over a year ago and it was impossible to view or play the content. Since then, there’s been an upgrade that at least allows access to content. However, playlist that from such a useful part of the Packt publishing website is not available and therefore how useful this is as a training tool is highly debatable. ### 3/5 — Missing basic features *2024-04-20* A beta app at best. Gets the job done but with a few bugs and a lot of missing features. Maybe a bookmark feature will suffice to start with. If you play a video and click table of contents to select a different chapter/video, the application will crash. You can only select next video and watch the chapters in order. Packt, please fix this. ### 2/5 — Just worse than the reader in the website *2023-11-12, version 1.9.5* Why do I have to sacrifice features like syntax highlighting and keyword highlighting like the web reader has for the convenience of having the book on my phone? Every code snippet should be syntax highlighted. Every keyword that’s highlighted in the book in the web reader should be highlighted in the app. This is one of the better readers out there but it could be the best reader out there. ### 2/5 — Books are great but no audio *2023-10-28* None of the videos have any audio.
