## What is PACT?

PACT is a minimalist focus timer built on a single, uncompromising idea: a commitment you either keep or consciously break.

■ THE EXCEPTION SYSTEM: ZERO EXCUSES
What makes PACT radically different is how it handles interruptions. You cannot simply pause the timer and walk away. Every break in focus forces a permanent choice:

• Allow an Exception: You can pause, but your reason becomes a permanent rule for all future sessions. What you allow once, you must allow forever. Your exceptions define who you are as a focuser.
• Break the Pact: Surrender entirely, and your accumulated chain instantly resets to zero.

There is no neutral option. Over time, your exception rules build an honest, unforgiving record of how you actually work — not how you think you do.

■ DESIGNED FOR DEEP WORK
• Pre-Commitment Buffer: Reserve a session in advance. A timed countdown gives you a moment to sit down, complete your start ritual, and mentally prepare before the timer locks in.
• Visual Accountability: Every completed session adds an unbreakable link to your chain. Watch it grow. Protect it at all costs.

■ BUILT FOR PURE FOCUS
PACT is intentionally minimal.
• No social feeds.
• No gamified streak animations.
• No meaningless badges or rewards.
Just you, your word, and the timer.

■ SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE
• System-adaptive Light and Dark modes designed to blend into your workflow.
• Fully localized in English, 中文 (Chinese), Français (French), and 日本語 (Japanese).

PACT is for people who take their commitments seriously.

Make the pact. Keep it.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-04-12

- Improved chain setting UI.
- Improved pause timer logic.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-04-11

We extended features in our app:
- Add the onboarding page.
- On the exception rules step of the focus chain wizard, tap a preset rule to edit or delete it in a modal.
- Modified the dilemma page UI, matching the chain settings wizard layout.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-04-09

What's New

Redesigned Interruption Flow

The separate Pause button has been removed from the focus screen. All interruptions now go through the Exit button and into the Break Review. Every break is a break, and every break deserves an account.

Break Review Now Does Everything

The Break Review screen now serves as the unified exception handler, replacing the old separate pause flow:

Use an existing rule: Pick from your pre-established exception rules to justify the pause
Add a new rule: When the situation isn't covered by existing rules, write a permanent new one
Give up: Destroy the chain and start over
Smoother Flow With No Rules

When no exception rules have been set up yet, tapping "Allow This Exception" skips the empty list and takes you directly to the new-rule form.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-04-08

What's New

- Screen Always On Your screen stays awake during both the reservation countdown and the focus session — no more auto-dimming or lock screens interrupting your commitment.

- Minimizing Triggers the Dilemma. If you send the app to the background during a focus session, you are immediately taken to the Dilemma screen. There is no going back — you must either add a new exception rule to justify the interruption, or admit failure and destroy the chain.

- Force Closing Means Failure. Fully closing the app during a focus session is treated as a broken pact. The next time you open the app, your chain will be automatically reset. A commitment is not something you can simply quit out of.
