## What is PadBrain?

PadBrain is built for drumming live: backing tracks to the house, the click to your in-ears and pad sounds on cue, from one iPhone, iPad or Mac. For small gigs, college shows, worship teams, rehearsals and lessons, without a laptop rig.

PREP THE GIG ON YOUR MAC — ONE CLICK
• Drop the gig folder and get a draft set: tracks or stems, MIDI markers, chord charts and the song list are read for each song's tempo, meter, sections and beat one, and each stem goes to your ears (click, guide), the house, or muted (drums).
• With a click track it also reads tempo changes (a tempo map) and odd meters with their grouping.
• Tap a section on the review to hear two bars, then MAKE A SET. Only a mixed file? The Mac can take the drums out (for practice and backup).
• The set goes to your phone or iPad in one backup file. Everything runs on your Mac — no account, no internet.

WHEN THE BAND DRIFTS
• SYNC: the band lands a beat off the click? Tap on the band's one and the click and bar count move to it at once. Undo for ten seconds.
• With a backing track, the same button takes the click out: you lead the band to the bar line, and the click comes back exactly on it.

ON STAGE
• Backing tracks and click run on one clock. One splitter cable: left to the house (tracks + pads), right to your in-ears (click + cues).
• One line under the song says where the sound goes — and warns when a single output puts the click in with the band.
• Section chips and HOLD: tap the chorus when the leader calls it, or HOLD for "once more". Moves land on the next bar line.
• "Next ▸ Chorus · 3 bars" beside the section, then the beats of the last bar.
• Voices only fades the band and keeps your click. An ambient pad in the song's key fills the space between songs.
• Stopped, tap the tempo to hear one bar of the next song's click in your ears before you count it in.
• PANIC (hold), LIVE LOCK (tap to lock, hold to unlock), foot switches and page-turner pedals.

PADS
• A kit per song, nine pads: a recorded acoustic kit with four dynamics and up to four takes per sound, a worship kit with ride, bell and floor tom, 808, percussion and FX.
• Plug in a USB MIDI pad, drum module or trigger and play. Around 10 ms.
• Pads that fire on a section's first beat, a crash on the chorus. Soft hits ignored and screen pads locked after a stop, if you want.

PREP
• Paste the song list from the chat: titles, keys, tempos, meters and song forms become a set. Backing tracks are optional.
• Share tracks from mail, a chat or AirDrop; the app listens for the tempo and sections.
• Rehearsal tempo 90–110%, pitch unchanged. Several sets, a linked iCloud Drive folder per set, a whole show in one file.
• Rig drawings, down to the plugs, and a pre-show check that warns when the click would reach the room.

Every feature free. No ads, no account, no data collected. Works offline.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-24

• Prep the whole gig on your Mac — one-click prep: drop a gig folder (tracks or stems, MIDI markers, chord charts, the song list) or pick it with CHOOSE FOLDER…, and get a draft set with each song's tempo, meter, sections and beat one, and each stem sent to your ears, the house or muted. Listen on the review, then MAKE A SET. Everything runs on your Mac.
• Only a mixed file? The Mac can take the drums out of it (turn it on in Settings; for practice and backup).
• Songs that change tempo: a click track's tempo changes become a tempo map, so the track, the click and the sections stay together to the end. The live screen shows the tempo at the current beat.
• Odd meters 5/4, 7/4, 5/8 and 7/8 with their grouping (2+2+3 and more), in the metronome and the song editor.
• A set prepared on the Mac goes to your phone or iPad in one backup file, tracks included.
• Easier on day one: tap the output warning to fix it, repeated sections are numbered (Chorus 1, 2), the pre-show check says Ready and lists what it looks at, section buttons say "at the bar line", and the metronome's meters sit in two rows.
• The guide is rewritten: prepare on the Mac, play on stage.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-19

• One line under the song on the Live screen says where the sound goes: "band → house · click → your ears" — and tells you when a single output puts the click in with the band.
• The pads fill the spare room on screen; their header reads "Play from MIDI pads or an e-kit".
• iPhone stays in portrait, so a phone knocked on its stand never changes the stage screen mid-song. (iPad and Mac as before.)
• On first launch the sample song shows what to try: PLAY, HOLD while it plays, a Y cable.
• Korean file names copied from the Mac's Finder now match their songs.
• Small screens (iPhone SE) keep every stage button in view.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-10-18

• Paste the song list your worship leader sends: service items (Welcome, Prayer, Sermon…) are left out, the set takes its name from the header, and spaced song forms ("Intro 4 V1 8 C 8") and "key of C" are read.
• On English devices the worship sample set reads in English: Sunday Worship, with Intro, Verse and Chorus.
• The Live screen no longer shifts when a hold or a section move is shown.
• A smaller app.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-18

• SYNC: when the band drifts off the click, tap on the band's one and the click moves to it. Undo for ten seconds. With a backing track, the click steps out and comes back exactly on the next bar line.
• Stopped, tap the BPM to hear one bar of the next song's click in your ears only (left house · right ears).
• Next to the section: "Next ▸ Chorus · 3 bars", then the beats of the last bar.
• Ambient pad: a soft bed in the song's key for between songs; it follows each song's key.
• A richer recorded kit: four dynamics, up to four takes per sound.
• Worship kit: softer and roomier, with cross-stick, ride, ride bell and floor tom. The worship sample set plays it.
• Clearer spoken cues with the best voice on the device, and their own volume against the click.
• Quiet after a ballad: ignore soft MIDI hits while stopped, and lock the screen pads after a stop (both in settings).
• Pedals: re-sync the click; hold a section while pressed.
• Voices only and the next section now show on iPad upright and narrow Mac windows.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-16

• Section chips: tap Chorus or Bridge to go there on the next bar line; tap the current one to restart it.
• A spoken count into each section (off by default). Spoken cue language: app, Korean, English or off.
• Voices only: fades the band and keeps your click and pads.
• Paste a song list to build a set with titles, keys, tempos, meters and song forms. Backing files named like a song attach to it.
• Song lists with notes in brackets, bullets, emoji or key changes read cleanly; try 'Put in an example' first.
• Song lists show which songs have a backing track and which run on the click alone.
• Drumless 6/8 songs are read as 6/8.
• Rehearsal tempo 90–110%: track, click and sections move together; back to 100% under LIVE LOCK.
• Practice metronome: meter, accent or mute per beat, gap click, off-beat level, practise the loaded song, tap tempo on a pad.
• LIVE LOCK: tap to lock, hold to unlock, kept across launches; PREV and TOP need a hold while locked and playing.
• A banner when the output device is lost, with a button to send sound out again.
• An in-ear ceiling to protect your hearing, a way to check the click is not leaking to the room, and a Bluetooth warning on the Live screen.
• Analysis results are marked as drafts until you confirm them.
• The pre-show check warns when the click goes to both sides and switches to L PA · R IEM in one tap.
• Typed BPM, a first-run hint, and a new sample set of five drumless worship songs.
• Click-only songs stay quiet; the Live screen no longer shifts on NEXT.
