## What is padipop?

padipop keeps compatible legacy iPod players useful by transferring your own DRM-free music directly from your iPad or iPhone over USB. Everything happens locally: you select the player's storage volume in the system Files picker, and padipop works only inside that folder.

TRANSFER, CORRECT, AND CLEAN UP
• Copy MP3 and DRM-free AAC (.m4a) files from a folder you choose to the player.
• Embedded cover art is converted to the player's native artwork formats.
• Exact-duplicate detection: a track that is already on the player is never duplicated. If only its tags changed, padipop updates the existing entry instead of copying the audio again.
• Delete tracks with verified backups retained inside the app.

SAFETY FIRST
• Before any change, padipop backs up the player's library database and verifies the backup.
• Changes are staged, committed last, re-parsed, and verified; a failed check stops before anything destructive happens and rolls the change back. The previous library database is kept on the player, and verified backups (including deleted audio) inside the app.

TRY IT WITHOUT A PLAYER
• The built-in Review Demo loads a clearly labelled synthetic sample library so you can try every feature before connecting anything.

COMPATIBILITY — READ BEFORE BUYING
• iPod nano 2nd generation and iPod mini – Verified end to end, connected to a USB-C iPad.
• iPod nano 3rd generation - Verified end to end, connected to a USB-C iPad, one-time setup on Mac or PC.
• iPod nano 1st generation and iPod 3rd to 5th generation - Should work, need testing
• iPod classic and iPod nano 4th generation- Should work with one-time setup on Mac or PC, need testing

CONNECTING TO USB-C iOS DEVICES
• Use an old 30-pin dock connector to USB-A cable with a USB-A to USB-C adapter
• or try a more recent 30-pin dock connector to USB-C cable (Yes they exists!)

CONNECTING TO LIGHTNING iOS DEVICES
• Use an old 30-pin dock connector to USB-A cable with an USB-A OTG to Lightning adapter

WON'T WORK
• iPod 1st and 2nd generation - Hardware incompatible
• iPod nano 5th generation and later, iPod shuffle, iPod touch - Out of scope

padipop handles only DRM-free files you provide. It does not access Apple Music or the iTunes Store, does not remove copy protection, and does not modify device firmware.
