I just feels as though it should be another step padsplit should take when housemates that lived in home for a long time take an advantage of homes and don’t clean up the home because of seniority and the host doesn’t do anything about it . Or it will be best to have a certain year length in a home . MOLD&MORE *2026-05-28, version 1.12.0* Walked in and there was moldy food in the fridge, items in my assigned spots, dishes in the sink, frost bitten food in the freezer, no set of keys in my room to lock my door, mold on the air vent, spider webs all over my room, bathroom was dirty, the yard is unkept, and an unlisted roommate was present in the home. Padsplit’s ‘resolution’ was a discount code for new members only. I called their “24-hr” customer service the night I tried to move in and the morning after. They said I have to wait up to 24hrs for a response from someone on Level 2. I get to be homeless until then, and I’m supposed to start work tomorrow! The hosts can charge you any fee for any/no reason and without communicating their concerns with you and padsplit will just take their word that it’s your fault. Also, looking at the rooms for rent in my area a lot of them are very much over priced. I have called PadSplit multiple times and they pretty much just told me there’s nothing that they can do. I wouldn’t rely on this company because even though I sitting in the dark, I still have to pay weekly rent at least if you were in an apartment they would do something for you rather than just tell you there’s nothing that they can do. I would suggest other platforms. This hits SSI recipients and fixed-income renters hardest people using Direct Express or small credit unions that Plaid simply doesn’t reach. That’s not a fringe case. That’s a significant portion of the exact demographic PadSplit exists to serve. A manual routing and account number entry option would fix this cleanly, no Plaid expansion required. If the mission is affordable housing for people who need it most, the payment system shouldn’t be the thing that locks them out. **Developer response:** Thank you for sharing this thoughtful feedback. We understand that relying on Plaid may create barriers for some members whose financial institutions are not supported.
