The blurb states that it offers a free trial but this is insufficient time to get any sense of how useful this app is before being forced into paying for it. Cynical!! **Developer response:** The app includes a short free preview so you can see how it works before choosing a subscription. After that preview period, access requires upgrading. There is no hidden charge and no payment is taken unless you actively choose a plan and confirm it through Apple. The app is a paid tool because it uses advanced AI processing and includes access to over 10,000 real paint colours across major brands. It’s designed to help users avoid costly paint mistakes, tester pots, and repainting, which can easily cost hundreds of pounds and many hours of work. There is a low-cost weekly subscription, which allows full access before committing. You can subscribe for 1 week and cancel at any time through your Apple ID settings. It probably gave me 15 different answers in my kitchen depending on where I stood. I get that lighting matters, but even with a flashlight it didn’t pick up the right color. I downloaded this app because I forgot what paint color I have in my living room and I need some touch up paint. It’s easier to just get swatches from the store than trust this. **Developer response:** Hi Jabreedl, The app does best when used with the white reference matching to calibrate the colors. The app shows a confidence rating for the color match as well as closely related colors, narrowing down your matches from thousands of possible colors so the most confident guesses. Color matching from a camera depends on factors such as the device’s camera and the room lighting. As the app states upon opening, it should be used for this purpose and the colors should be confirmed with swatches before painting. ### 1/5 — No, I don’t want pro. *2025-05-25* You can’t get past the pro screen that pops up every minute and interrupts what you’re working on, even if you purchase a package or free trial. Close the app or click a package, that’s the only way to shut it down then a minute later, it interrupts you again. $50 a year for what? The colors bleed into your furniture so if you’re trying to match it with your decor, fat chance. You’ve overpriced this for its capability and you’ve put WAY too many paywalls in the way. I have no idea how you got so many good reviews because this is awful. **Developer response:** Hi CooperReviews, There are 3 pricing options, including a weekly option and a 3 day free trial. Our power users tell us $50/year is a bargain for matching and visualizing paints (typically Pro Painters). The paint visualization isn’t perfect, it’s about 95% accurate in occluding furniture, but it’s the best on the market and the only one that works real-time in high-resolution, including ultra-wide camera mode. I invented this technology myself, it’s not off the shelf, and I’m constantly improving it. The paywall presents after 2 minutes of using all of the app’s Pro features the first time you use the app, and then 20 seconds on every subsequent view. Enough that you could match a wall quickly, but if you’re using the app longer, it’s fair to ask for payment or at least a free trial signup, which can be cancelled at any time with no hassle. The paywall does NOT show when you purchase a package or free trial. I’m not sure why my app offended you or why you’re choosing to harm my business, but apparently I’ve done something to encourage you to write such a scathing review; for that I apologize. I’m building the best apps I can and pricing them to make a living. I tested it on multiple walls in my home with known paint colors and it didn’t match any of them correctly. I’ve made major improvements to both color detection and paint matching in the latest version. Please update the app and send feedback through the in-app support option with an example photo so I can investigate the specific mismatch. It was completely useless. It couldn’t even get the paint covers that were very obvious, and I already knew the answer to including when I used the watches in the shop. They were actually wildly different. E.g. mistaking a light dusky pink for a very dark grey clay. **Developer response:** I’m sorry the result was that far off. A light dusky pink being matched as a dark grey/clay color is not the experience this app is meant to provide. Paint matching depends heavily on lighting, shadows, camera exposure, surface texture, and whether the color card or wall fills enough of the scan area. That said, the example you gave sounds clearly wrong, not just slightly inaccurate. Please contact support from inside the app and send the photo or scan details if you still have them. You either have to know the paint brand or check the similar suggested colors. The visualizer is pretty good too if you hold the camera stable. ### 5/5 — This is amazing! Really saves time and money *2025-04-03* I love the ability to quickly try colors in a room or on a house or even a car instantly. With a click of the next color you see if that might be even better. Plus you can sweep across a huge range of colors with tiny or large increments of differences to quickly find perfection for any project. The short subscription window works for the hobbyist. App gave me colors in the medium gray range when actual color was close to bright white. I ended up paying for the app and wasting $33 at Sherwin-Williams when I guessed wrong. **Developer response:** Thank you for the detailed feedback. Ceiling touch-ups are especially sensitive because shadows, sheen, camera exposure, and warm indoor lighting can make bright whites read much darker or grayer than they are. For the best result, please retest in bright neutral daylight and include a pure white reference nearby, such as printer paper or a known white paint chip. That helps the app correct for lighting and avoid shifting the match too dark. I’m also continuing to improve the matching model for whites, ceilings, and low-saturation colors based on reports like this. Although it color matched well: it doesn’t include Behr, the paint preview (see it on your walls) is terrible, and it’s not super user-friendly overall.
