## What is Painting Notebook?

Find a way into your next painting.

Painting Notebook helps you move from an image toward marks you can make. Start with a photograph or a drawing, explore a few studies, and keep the decisions that help you begin.

PREPARE YOUR REFERENCE
Crop the image yourself, or straighten a painting photographed at an angle. Keep the original alongside your edits.

TRY A FEW WAYS OF SEEING
Make line, mass, and hatch studies from the same image. Try more variations, compare them side by side, and keep a direction. Explore value shapes and observed colour at different levels of detail.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Draw over a study, fade the underlay, or work on blank paper with the reference alongside. Each drawing becomes another study in your notebook.

FOLLOW THE PAINTING
Photograph painting sessions, compare progress, and keep a few notes about what changed and what to try next.

KEEP YOUR WORK
Your images and studies are processed on your device. No account is required. Export individual images, a project, or your whole notebook, and restore your backup on another device. Keep an exported backup before deleting the app.

Painting Notebook is a tool for looking and exploring. Its studies offer possible starting points; your marks and decisions remain your own.
