When managing a couple of hundred paints of varying brands, I can quickly check what I have in stock without rummaging through a couple of hundred paints in boxes. Cloud backup and restore allows me to run the app on 2 devices which is handy. The colour picker works well finding similar colours in different ranges. The developer has always responded quickly to any messages I have sent which is always appreciated. When starting a new project, I always consult paintRack to determine all my paint needs. It’s a great for researching obscure FS codes and finding their equivalents. Says it scans Liquitex but it doesn’t. False advertising and I can’t get a refund what a ripoff ### 2/5 — Functional but lacking *2025-07-04, version 1.35.0* The app is ok however it is missing a lot of, what I consider to be common, paints - for example - the entire Tamiya LP range or half the Mr Color metallics. There doesn’t seem to be a way to add / contribute paints the library. Frustrating ### 3/5 — Citadel paint *2026-01-09, version 1.39.0* App works well but for some reason when scanning citadel paints they do not register with quick scan or say does not recognise ### 3/5 — Great for tracking which paints you have but awful for color matching. *2024-05-02* Get this app if you’ve ever mistakenly bought the same paint twice because you weren’t sure if you had it at home. Don’t get this app if you want to know what color matches another from brand to brand, the feature just simply doesn’t work correctly. **Developer response:** Hey, please send us an email. Something isn't right if it doesn't seem to be working for color matching. ### 3/5 — Alright *2023-08-22, version 1.20.0* The devs don’t seem to do the best job keeping it updated with new paints, but otherwise it isn’t too bad. Probably the best option out of a not great selection of miniature paint tracking apps. ### 4/5 — Very good for keeping track of paints *2024-12-02* Very good app for keeping track of paints. I use it often. The UI could be improved on but is not a big concern. Some colors are displayed differently than the actual paint color which makes planning color schemes without having my paints in hand a little difficult, but as wide as the range of paints in the app is it makes sense some are off. It would be awesome if that was fixed though **Developer response:** Most of the colors are provided by the brands themselves, but mistakes do happen. Please email us if any seem wrong! ### 4/5 — Great, very useful app *2024-10-27* I use this app all the time. I have created “sets” and “subsets” for my paints by brand/category. But sets/subsets are really useful to track each mini or project. The notes in each allow me to record exact mix ratios when I do that for specific parts of a mini. I would give five stars if it allowed me to attach photos to sets/subsets. That’d be so helpful both for showing the final mini as well as pictures in working from when I’m planning a paint project. ### 4/5 — Great App with a couple of Usability issues *2024-09-14* Overall PaintRack is an extremlely useful app for mini painters. However there are some Usability issue that if resolved could easily push it to the next level. Building your paint library in the beginning can be a bit annoyoinb because you have to add everything 1 item at a time and then jump jump back to the library. Having the /- buttons directly on the library view would be very helpful The ability to scan more than 1 item at a time would also be very useful. A function bulk add an entire set (like say the Army Painter Speedpaint Mega Set) would also be great. The other area that could be improved is better organization among manufacturers. For example with Ammo paint, you have multiple completely different lines of paints but they are all just lumped under the AMMO heading making very hard. That said, once do have your library loaded in everything else is very useful. ### 4/5 — Great for tracking which paints you have but okay for color matching. *2024-05-07* Get this app if you’ve ever mistakenly bought the same paint twice because you weren’t sure if you had it at home. Update* Changed to 4*. After emailing with the team at paintRack some suggestions improved the usefulness of the paint match function: click the little number in the top right to view the color distance value from your color to the brand you’re searching- under 5 is a good match, 5-10 is okay-ish, more than 10 is a bad match. Not all brands will have a good match. I also made sure I didn’t have any restrictions in my megaFilter. I still get some matches for metallic paints when searching flat base paints so just keep a keen eye for paint type and only use metallic paints in the filter when you’re looking for metallic matches. **Developer response:** Hey, please send us an email. Something isn't right if it doesn't seem to be working for color matching. ### 4/5 — Great way to track your paints and finding substitute colours *2024-04-25, version 1.25.1* This app is a great way to track your collection of paints and to find paint substitutions for colours mentioned in painting guides. I only rated it 4/5 stars because the tool for matching colours isn’t always very accurate in my experience. I understand it’s challenging to flatten all colour data on the same scale but a circular or spherical colour matching chart may be more useful for accuracy. I strictly use the colour matching to get ideas for paint substitutes then I’ll do my own research online and actually test paints in my collection to see what I think. It’s still a handy tool no matter what and worth the one time asking price. I strongly recommend the app just know there are flaws with the paint finder. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Fantastic for miniature and hobby paint tracking! *2026-07-29* I’ve used every feature on the app and still do almost daily. Being red/green colorblind the color comparison tool is indispensable when choosing which paints to use! The collection tracker and ability to quickly sort by manufacturers saves a lot of time. Especially when trying to remember what I have in my collection at home! I’ve also used the Citadel Colour app, which is fine for just GW paints, but Paintrack eclipses it in every way. This is an easy recommend for purchasing. The dev updates frequently still adding new paints when they’re released. ### 5/5 — Infinitely Useful and Easy to Use *2026-07-22* I have been using this app for well over a year now. At first, I was just excited to be able to catalogue my paints, and that’s come in really handy when I thought “hey, I think I have a bottle of this but I don’t know” when shopping for miniature paints. Since then, I’ve used it many times for paint substitution recommendations (I have more APWF than anything else), color triads, and finding colors that will go well with one another. Yesterday I sent support an email with a question, and they got back to me same day with an answer that resolved my user error issue. PaintRack has become as indispensable a tool for me as my brushes. Highly recommended. **Developer response:** As of 1.25.0, Warpaints Fanatic is supported in the app! ### 5/5 — Super useful and great support *2026-07-01* An amazingly useful application for organizing your paint collection. Not only does it let you keep track of all the paints you own, it helps you keep track of what you want or need to get with a variety of features. The dev team is super responsive to feedback. I’ve literally emailed them suggestions and gotten a reply within a week saying either ‘great idea, we’ll add it to our list’, or ‘yes, we have that in the works, you can expect it in an upcoming update’. By far the best app I’ve found to help with my painting hobby. The scan feature stream lines this further. Any issue support is quick to answer and follow up. The only thing I could wish for is a section to write down personal mixes of paint so I don’t forget. Paid version is easily worth it to help me find comparable paints to the ones used in any YouTube tutorials I watch. So far, I haven’t had any erroneous comp recommendations. The ability to export your library by brand/range would be a nice upgrade in a future release but the existing functionality isn’t a major issue.
