### 5/5 — More accurate for my location than what is on the weather apps

*2026-08-16*

The town I live in sprawls. Air quality from the national weather apps report air quality, but it is not accurate for my home’s location, miles from whatever location the app gets readings from.🤷‍♀️I live further from the city, so air quality is sometimes much better in my suburb - but not always. There is a Paku weather station near my home, and I count on it to tell me local air quality. There is a lot of pollution and other issues here. Now I know when it’s not safe with my asthma to walk my dogs outside. Thank you Paku!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-08-16, version 7.0.4*

Easy to use. Even provides nearby temperature.

### 5/5 — Great for AQI

*2026-08-16, version 7.0.4*

In an area that has frequent wildfires, this app is key in figuring out how safe it is outside. Love it and highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Responsive app

*2026-08-15, version 7.0.4*

App is very responsive and shows me all the monitors in my hometown. With all the recent wildfires, it’s nice to check the numbers before planning my day

### 5/5 — A health tool

*2026-08-15, version 7.0.4*

I love this app. I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and I start getting sick when the AQI goes above 50. I check Paku almost daily—and especially if I’m having symptoms—to let me know if it’s time to batten down the hatches at home when there’s bad air. And it seems more accurate than the AQI on my phone’s weather app. Love it!

### 5/5 — Good updates

*2026-08-15, version 7.0.4*

Love being able to see how our air quality is so easily. Yes you can look outside but sometimes that can be deceiving

### 5/5 — App is much better.

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.4*

Just tested this and it now reflects the real time air quality as good as Purpleair

### 5/5 — Great designed AQI App

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.2*

The app is great, but I really hope there’s better international coverage coming in the future, either via ambee or a different provider, so those of us outside the USA and parts of Europe can also enjoy this app in our home locations

### 5/5 — So good!

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.4*

Very useful!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.4*

Love this app! It’s super easy to use- and find results!

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.4*

I find PAKU to be more useful and specific than what I find on the weather app on my phone.

### 4/5 — Pretty Good

*2026-08-14, version 7.0.3*

It’s fairly intuitive and has a lot of sensors readable on the map. The ‘zoom out’ to just see colors of sensors is helpful for a regional overview. I wish it had a ‘play’ feature so you could play the changes in air quality over 1, 3 or 7 days, both for a regional view and for specific sensors. It’s pretty good at screening out errors on specific sensors. The new version 8/13/2026 has darker colors for red, almost brown. I like the brighter red for the 100+ AQI. Showing raw pm 2.5 is helpful because EPA AQI is a bizarre nonlinear equation.

Sensitive groups?! That’s non-scientific bs, like saying cigarette smoke is bad for sensitive groups. The EPA is behind the times. Wildfire smoke increases Alzheimer’s risk, (especially if you’re over 70) heart attacks, strokes, miscarriages, pulmonary diseases. Look it up on PubMed.

### 5/5 — Excellent partner to my PurpleAir monitor and more

*2026-08-14*

This app is excellent. It does exactly what we need by giving us colour-coded information about Air Quality. It also has information on temperature and humidity and other factors.
It comes with widgets and interface to provide alerts when the air quality shifts past defined conditions.
As others have said, it is a primarily single focussed app and it does it extremely well
Highly recommended to anyone with Air Quality concerns whether it’s related to wildfires or other considerations

### 5/5 — Great resource for checking air quality

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

Fast, free and easy-to-use!

### 5/5 — Really useful

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

As an aggregator of AQI monitors Paku is really helpful for making decisions around masking and other measures to mitigate effects of wildfire smoke. I often use it in conjunction with other apps like Weather to help me plan my day during smoke season.

### 5/5 — Accurate and easy to use

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

Accurate, hyper local air quality and smoke information and easy to use. Provides real time but does provide prediction.

### 5/5 — An Excellent App

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

Paku provides accurate real time air quality information at just about any location. I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Top Notch

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

I really appreciate being able to look at the data from individual monitoring stations as well as seeing the data at scale. Very useful app!

### 5/5 — Outdoor decisions

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

Paku helps to determine the amount of time my dogs and I spend outdoors.

### 5/5 — Great help

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

We live in an area often affected by smoke throughout the summer and into September. We use Paku a lot to check AQI levels to help us decide about outdoor exercise, whether to open windows at night or just go somewhere else for a few days. Love this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Hijacks my phone

*2026-08-13, version 7.0.3*

I can't get it to shut off- this is a new problem. It appears in the oval at the top of the iPhone and nothing turns it off....

### 1/5 — Stop asking me to rate the app

*2026-08-07, version 6.2.1*

Everytime I open the app a text box pops up asking me to rate the app. I have rated it, so it needs to stop popping up

### 1/5 — Inaccurate AQI readings

*2026-07-31, version 6.2.1*

Despite smoke in the air from the Woodside Fire blanketing Sonoma County, this app showed an AQI of just 10. I (stupidly) trusted it and left my windows open. I forced quit the app and made sure I was on current iOS app version. I later learned our local AQI had reached “unhealthy” levels of 197 and climbing when verifying against other sources.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-06-23, version 6.1.3*

Thick awful smoke from a fire the smells horrible has covered my neighborhood yet this app still shows good air quality what a joke!

### 1/5 — Needs more sources

*2026-05-12, version 6.1.3*

While it’s great that they have a vast network in USA and parts of Europe their senses lack coverage in the Middle East, Africa and much of Asia. If they allowed for EPA and other reliable data sources, this app would be far more useful in those areas.

### 1/5 — Peku in the occupation

*2026-05-04, version 6.1.2*

Just found out that Paku sensors are in the settlements and all over the occupied territories. It’s shame companies have no morals anymore. When most of the world has refused this Israels blatant land grab that support aggressive settlers Paku finds it acceptable to sell and register their units in the site. Shame on them. I’ve blocked Peku and will throw the Paku sensor.

### 1/5 — Stop asking me for review

*2026-02-07, version 6.1.0*

They keep asking for a review so here is 1 star.

### 1/5 — Crashy on ipad ios 26

*2025-10-16, version 6.0.1*

Can’t even open the app. Immediately crashes. I don’t see a way of reporting bugs anywhere either.

### 1/5 — Unreliable app

*2025-01-26, version 5.11.4*

Sensors in my area are offline.

### 1/5 — Widgets don’t work anymore on free version…

*2024-03-04, version 5.6.1*

Widgets used to work, but with the latest “upgrade” they are only available for paid subscribers. So, this is not much different from the Purple Air app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — An easier way to check local air quality sensors

*2026-08-24*

Paku is much easier to read and use than the Purple Air website. You can localize it wherever you are. You can create favorites and save them. With the purple Air website, every time you use it, you have to change the setting for a conversion to US AQI. With Paku. As a default is US AQI. You can also view the temperature reading from any sensor on the same screen as the AQI. All this is with the free version.

### 5/5 — Health App

*2026-08-23*

Live data is a major resource to knowing when to put on an N95 mask to stay healthy. Wish there were sensors and live displays showing air quality in every park so this information was available to everyone. Until that happens this app is the next best thing!

### 5/5 — App iuse

*2026-08-22*

It’s fantastic to see where the open windows are to know where I can go cycling!

### 5/5 — Totally lifesaver!

*2026-08-18, version 7.0.4*

Having live local air quality updates right on my lock screen makes it so easy to know exactly when it’s safe to head outside.

### 5/5 — Allergy Help

*2026-08-18, version 7.0.4*

I have allergies and this site is invaluable got finding out when it is safe for me to go outside and exercise.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!!

*2026-08-18, version 7.0.4*

Great app

### 5/5 — Great during smoke season

*2026-08-17, version 7.0.4*

Since we now have a 5th season, smoke, it is very handy to have.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-16, version 7.0.4*

Easy to use, great design, updates promptly. Used the discount code to buy a Purple Air, and the savings to buy a subscription.

### 5/5 — Handy App

*2026-08-16*

I use this currently to watch cities where my loved ones reside

### 5/5 — Heat Map Change

*2026-08-16, version 7.0.4*

The new dense heat map makes it quite hard to read the names of cities.

The old blur on zoom out didn’t have this problem.

Disabling the heat map entirely + disabling declutter looks closer to what I remember but declutter is nice when zoomed in.

In any case, still a great app.
