Ich habe die App für den Audioguide des Schlosses Versailles genutzt und war leider insgesamt enttäuscht. Zwar ist die App kostenlos und erspart einem zunächst die 5 € für den klassischen Audioguide, doch dieser Vorteil wird durch zahlreiche Probleme schnell relativiert.
Bereits zu Beginn fällt auf, dass man zwar Deutsch als Sprache für die Audiotracks auswählen kann, die App selbst jedoch nicht auf Deutsch verfügbar ist. Hier stehen nur Englisch, Französisch und Spanisch zur Auswahl. Ich persönlich komme damit zurecht, da ich der englischen Sprache mächtig bin. Für ältere Mitmenschen oder Personen mit geringeren Sprachkenntnissen stellt dies jedoch eine echte Hürde dar. Diese können die App kaum sinnvoll nutzen und sind somit gezwungen, den kostenpflichtigen Audioguide zu nehmen.
Auch die Navigation innerhalb der App ist wenig benutzerfreundlich. Die Audiotracks sind zwar thematisch gegliedert, jedoch ist es sehr schwierig herauszufinden, welcher Bereich zu welchem Raum gehört, da dies vor Ort nirgends klar angekündigt wird. Zwar sind die einzelnen Tracks nummeriert, doch diese Nummern in den Räumen zu finden, ist oft mühsam und aufgrund der vielen Besucher sehr unübersichtlich. Dadurch kam es bei mir mehrfach vor, dass ich die falschen Audiotracks angehört habe.
Hinzu kommen inhaltliche Schwächen. Während der Audios sind mir Fehler aufgefallen, so wurde beispielsweise in einem Satz von Ludwig XV. gesprochen und im nächsten Satz dieselbe Person fälschlicherweise als Ludwig XIV. bezeichnet. Insgesamt bleiben die Informationen zudem recht oberflächlich und konzentrieren sich hauptsächlich auf die beschriebenen Gemälde, anstatt stärker auf die historische Bedeutung des Ortes einzugehen.
Alles in allem ist die App daher keine echte Alternative zum kostenpflichtigen Audioguide und aus meiner Sicht nicht zu empfehlen.

“Visited” in October 2023, the month of the bomb threats. Didn’t get to see much, especially after jumping through hoops to get a ticket. Not worth it at all, as we had to leave.

This app has real problems when you’re on the main state bedrooms. It works pretty good but finding your way to other areas in Versailles Palace is very very difficult! They don’t give you many points of reference and they don’t really give you any idea on different sections of the palace. It should be laid out much better in my opinion. This really Means you should probably get the main audio to her from Versailles and buy it on site. Don’t lose this app!

App frequently "resets", and requires download of audio content vs. streaming.

It says it works entirely without an internet connection but … I got to Versailles and tried to use it. At best I could get into the app where I found it just had links to download different things, which seemed odd for an app that says it didn’t need an internet connection. I tried again and it just wouldn’t go past the starting screen. I think it checks for updates, so if you’re in airplane mode that just fails and you get the option to download things, I’d your in Versailles with no functioning connection it just hangs.

So if you open the app before going, go into all the sections and download everything, then go into airplane mode then maybe? But if you just get the app believing what it says about not needing internet then best case it’s useless, worst case it won’t even open.

Just some really WEIRD decisions for a supposedly offline app.

First I loaded the guide but it did not fully load. Then once in the chateau it turned to be very difficult to find the narrative for the section where we were. The search feature would get us nowhere. Once I was able to locate the right room in the guide that’s when I realized the narrative had not fully loaded and I spent way too much time trying to get it to load , but there was no cell signal and no WiFi. Once I found a corner with signal and was able to load there we were almost at the end and my GF who had purchased the audio guide at the entrance was tired and wanted to go to the gardens where the guide was useless…

There are audio numbers on some of the rooms, but they don’t seem to match up with the numbers on the map of the palace, I think they match a purchased audio guide. Room numbers are hard to find to figure out where you are so you can follow the tour in the app. Putting some QR codes inside for at least making the numbers match the room numbers on the interactive map would help a lot or a way to enter the number of the room you are in to get oriented

I downloaded this app because it was the one recommended by the Chateau. However, none of the titles of the audio tours matched the rooms and the map was not searchable. The result was that I didn’t use it at all on our visit.

This free app was excellent. Wish every venue provided this instead of the physical audio guides! Best to download all audio tracks ahead of time. It takes some practice to get used to it. Spend the first few minutes at the start getting familiar with the maps versus the audio guides. The numbers in the plaques in the rooms match the audio tracks and you can “search” and enter the room number and that takes you to the proper track within the map view of that section. Many rooms are back to back so you can use the next/previous buttons. It is FAR to walk to the Trianons from the palace, and the trains are a bit slow so allow about 2.5 hrs if you want to visit them.

I was incredibly impressed with this application. The mapping and especially the audio tour was essential for our visit. Bringing a comfy set of headphones was great for the day.

When we went to Versailles in March, the line to get the headphones was long and we weren’t sure if it cost money so we skipped it and I found this app! It was way easier to navigate than I expected and gave incredible information that was pretty easy to follow. I’m someone who loves to read plaques when I go to museums. Well, Versailles doesn’t really have plaques so you kind of just have to guess about things. This app filled in so many details! There are even details about the grounds and La Trianon and Le Petite Trianon. The map was accurate and detailed. The only thing that got confusing was that it isn’t up-to-date on a couple areas that tourists are not allowed to go to right now.
