## What is Palette?

“Because there’s an endless amount of data available to us and we have a limited bandwidth to conserve, we might consider carefully curating the quality of what we allow in.”
– The Creative Act: A Way of Being, Rick Rubin

We’ve built an internet that’s excellent at wasting your time.

Short-form feeds keep you scrolling. Algorithms decide everything you see. Yet somehow, with more content than ever, it’s still hard to find something actually worth watching, reading, or listening to.

It’s annoying that there’s no unified place to discover high-quality media that isn’t fed to you by some string of code. On the flip side, recommendations from real people live across group chats, screenshots, notes apps, and the part of your brain that definitely will not remember them later.

So, we built Palette. Because we know media discovery is kind of a mess, and we want to help people be more intentional with what they consume.

Palette is a social app for the media that makes you, you. Discover, review, save, and share books, movies, shows, and music, all in one place. Powered by friends, not algorithms.

What you can do on Palette:

Build your Palette:
Create a visual profile of your taste across books, films, shows, and music. The more you rate, review, and save, the more your Palette becomes you.

Peruse your Archive:
Track everything you’ve read, watched, and listened to in one place. More importantly, check out what your crush has been watching/reading/listening to lately.

Review everything:
Post your takes on movies, books, shows, albums, and more. Love something? Tell the world. Hate something everyone else loves? Ragebaiting just got a whole lot easier.

Stack for later:
Save recommendations from friends to one shared watch/read/listen-later list. Your Notes app is meant for future baby names and drafting texts, not remembering what you want to read next.

Mix it up:
Curate cross-media collections for moods, eras, memories, heartbreaks, inside jokes, etc. Books, films, music, and shows can finally all live together as they’re meant to.

Discover through real people:
Browse reviews, ratings, and recommendations from people you actually trust. Your friends are the algorithm.

Great art and entertainment are meant to inspire, to evoke, not to keep you doomscrolling for hours until you hate yourself. Your point of view is what gives art meaning, what makes it matter.

We are building Palette for people who like taking a perspective on art, and are brave enough (or confident enough) to share their thoughts about it.

You have great taste. Show it off on Palette.
