## What is Paletteable?

Paletteable is the essential color matching companion for oil painters. Point your camera at any color in the real world and instantly discover which oil paints—or paint mixtures—will recreate it on canvas.

PREMIUM PAINT DATABASE
Launch with the complete Michael Harding oil paint range—renowned for exceptional pigment quality and artist-grade formulations. Each paint includes detailed information on pigment composition, opacity, tinting strength, drying time, and lightfastness ratings. Know exactly what you're working with before you mix. More brands coming soon.

INTELLIGENT COLOR MATCHING
Our advanced matching algorithm understands how oil paints actually behave. Unlike simple color pickers, Paletteable accounts for how pigments interact when mixed—considering undertones, opacity, and tinting strength to predict real-world results.

SMART MIXING SUGGESTIONS
When a single paint won't match your target color, Paletteable suggests precise mixing recipes. See exactly which paints to combine and in what ratios, with confidence scores that tell you how close the mixture will get. Multiple suggestions let you choose based on paints you already own.

BUILD YOUR PALETTE
Create custom palettes with the paints you actually have on your table. Paletteable will match colors using only your available paints—no more suggestions for colors you don't own. Save multiple palettes for different projects or painting styles.

FAMOUS PAINTER PALETTES
Learn from the masters. Explore historically-researched palettes used by renowned artists throughout history. Understand the limited but powerful color selections that created masterpieces, and apply those constraints to your own work.

CAPTURE & ORGANIZE
Photograph reference images and pick colors directly from them. Save color solutions to your palettes with notes about where each colour appears in your composition. Build a visual record of your color mixing decisions.

SYNC ACROSS DEVICES
Your palettes sync seamlessly via iCloud. Start analyzing colors on your iPhone in the field, then access your palettes on any device when you're back in the studio.

DESIGNED FOR ARTISTS
Paletteable is built by painters, for painters. The interface stays out of your way while providing the technical information you need. Whether you're a plein air painter matching fleeting light conditions or a studio artist working from photographs, Paletteable helps you mix with confidence.

Perfect for:
• Plein air painters matching colors in the field
• Studio artists working from photo references
• Students learning color theory and mixing
• Professional artists expanding their palette knowledge
• Anyone who's ever wondered "what paint is that color?"

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-26

• My Paints: keep track of the tubes you own, or add them by photographing your paints.
• Smarter Suggest Paints: suggestions start with your own paints, then list any worth buying.
• More realistic mixing: mixes are calculated across the full colour spectrum, so classics like ivory black and yellow ochre make the greens you'd expect.
• Corrected colours for many Gamblin paints, plus faster, clearer iCloud syncing.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-23

A few refinements to the painter tools, including two straight from your feedback:

• Values — a value scale now sits alongside your study. Tap any value to outline exactly where it falls in your image, so you can see how the lights and darks are distributed without changing the study itself.
• Grid — the grid now shows its size right on the image, so you always know how many squares you’re working across.
• Smoother tools — filters and the colour-picker loupe respond more fluidly, and the grid and filter settings now adjust reliably.
• Faster Discover — palettes come in with a clear loading state instead of a blank screen on first open.

Thanks for the notes sent through the in-app feedback button — keep them coming.
