## What is Palkie Talkie?

Palkie Talkie is the voice practice partner you wish you had.

To speak a language like a native, you have to actually speak it. Palkie Talkie is built for exactly that. Open the app and start talking, no booking a coach, no turning a camera on, no feeling watched. Walking to work, in the car, at the gym, before bed, just talk a little every day.

WHY PALKIE TALKIE

• REAL CONVERSATION, NOT DRILLS. No fill-in-the-blanks. No multiple choice. You talk, the AI listens, replies in character, and corrects you when something sounds off.

• REMEMBERS YOU. Talk about your tennis serve on Monday, and on Friday it asks how the match went. Conversations build on each other instead of resetting.

• PICK A PERSONA. A sharp comedian, a patient mentor, an idiom-loving polyglot, a tennis coach. Each one has a real character and their own way of pulling words out of you.

• CORRECTIONS WITHOUT THE CRINGE. When you slip, with a wrong word, a dropped article, awkward phrasing, the AI echoes back the natural way to say it, with a gentle vocal stress on the fix. No "actually," no teacher voice.

• START FROM ZERO. Complete beginner? Your coach teaches in your native language, introducing one phrase at a time, having you say it, and explaining what it means.

• SET THE PACE. Ask the coach to slow down and it does, right in the conversation. Preview each language's voice and pace before you start.

• TIPS, RUMORS, AND HEADLINES. The "Today" screen feeds you fresh news, sports, politics, and quiz prompts so you always have something to talk about.

• REAL PROGRESS. The Stats screen shows your day streak, talking minutes, vocabulary breadth, speaking rate, pitch range, CEFR vocab coverage, and the mistakes you keep making.

• KEEP EVERY CONVERSATION. Auto-save each chat as a Markdown note to a folder you connect, an Obsidian vault, iCloud Drive, or Google Drive.

WHO IT'S FOR

Anyone who can read this but freezes when it's time to say it out loud. Functional but not fluent. Living the language abroad but not speaking enough at work. Watching the meeting from the side because joining feels too risky.

PRIVACY

Your conversations are stored under your account to power the personalization. You can export everything or delete it any time from More, Privacy & Data.

PRICING

Palkie Talkie is free to start: 10 minutes of conversation per day and 30 minutes per week. When you want more, go unlimited with an Individual plan, or cover up to six people on one bill with a Family plan, monthly or yearly. Current prices are shown on this page and in the app. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled; manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-09-05

Bug fixes
1. Ask your coach to explain something and it keeps explaining, instead of going quiet on you.
2. Your coach comes back with different words, instead of answering "Fair" nine times in one conversation.
3. The app no longer freezes while your sign-in refreshes in the background.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-01

New features
1. Family plan. One subscription covers up to six people, on one iPhone or several, each with their own coach and their own conversations, and Stats can show the family total.

Bug fixes
2. Your coach finishes the sentence it was saying, instead of stopping the moment its words were ready.
3. Your turns are timed to when you actually stopped speaking, and your past sessions have been repaired to match.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-30

New features
1. Every number on Stats now says what it is read against: where you place, the best anyone has reached, and the middle where there is one.
2. Your CEFR levels are measured against the published CEFR word lists, so each bar is the share of that level you have actually said.
3. Your total time reads in hours once it passes one, instead of counting up in minutes.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-25

New features
1. You talk more and your coach talks less. It keeps its turns short and gives the conversation back to you.

Bug fixes
2. You hear when your free practice is over and when it comes back, even with the screen off.
3. Your coach no longer draws a blank on longer things. Ask about your job interview and it answers instead of saying it does not know.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-23

New features
1. Runs on iOS 17 and later. Palkie Talkie asked for iOS 26 before, so a lot of iPhones were shut out of it. Not anymore.
2. Friends. Pick a username, add someone by theirs, and see how you're both doing. Nothing about either of you is shared until they accept.
3. FSI benchmark. Your minutes have a destination now: the class hours the US Foreign Service Institute publishes for reaching professional fluency in each language.

Bug fixes
4. The language you choose for the app is the language you get. Notifications, spoken cues, coach names and language names followed your iPhone before, even when the app was set to something else.
5. Slowing your coach down works. Every speed below normal was ending the conversation the moment you picked it.
