## What is Panic Mechanic?

PanicMechanic shows you how your body is responding to your panic attack. It is backed by science and gives you a sense of control when you need it most. Download PanicMechanic today to overcome your panic attacks whenever and wherever they happen.

We created PanicMechanic because we suffered from panic attacks. The biofeedback-based approach we deliver is what worked for us, and PanicMechanic is our way of sharing it with you. Our hope is that it will help you get through your panic attacks, understand what is happening to your body, and identify your common triggers.

How it works

When you feel a panic attack coming on, open the app and it will prompt you to place your finger on your phone’s video camera. Several times throughout the attack, your body’s panic response will be recorded. You will also record stress levels, exercise patterns, and lifestyle habits that might help predict future panic attacks. The app lets you watch your body’s panic response decrease as your panic attack ends. After you’ve logged at least one attack, the app can start giving you information such as, “Based on your average attack, you only have 2 more minutes until the end! You got this!” You can see your panic attack history and learn for yourself what circumstances make you most likely to have an attack. Best of all, users say that the app gives them a sense of control during the attack.

### 3/5 — Close but not yet there

*2021-04-15, version 3.0.1*

I want to love this- it’s a great idea. But trying to get the phone to read my heart rate and the running timer at the top made my anxiety even worse. Any way to make it easier for the iPhone 11???

### 4/5 — Informative

*2021-04-14, version 3.0.1*

The fact that I can see what my common factors are when I have a panic attack is awesome!

### 1/5 — I don’t understand the point

*2021-04-01, version 2.0.0*

The app should really be free as it barely works and the question timer literally worsens someone’s anxiety. The heart rate sensor is cool... if it worked but was vastly higher compared to my apple watch sensor.

### 5/5 — Amazing Resource

*2021-03-28, version 2.0.0*

PanicMechanic has helped me so much. I feel comforted knowing I have PM at the tip of my fingers (literally) for any situation I might find myself in. Thank you PanicMechanic!!!

**Developer response:** We're so glad that you've enjoyed the app and found it helpful! If you ever have any comments or thoughts about how we can make the app even more helpful please let us know by emailing us at customerservice@allostatech.com :)

### 5/5 — So simple, so effective

*2020-10-29, version 2.0.0*

This rather nifty app has helped me manage severe attacks where I feel incapable of moving and having trouble breathing (heaving). Not only does seeing your progress improve during your panic attack give you some confidence that you’re rounding the corner, but I found going through the questionnaire helpful in redirecting my attention away from the attack.

### 5/5 — It really works!

*2020-10-21, version 2.0.0*

It’s kind of amazing that something that’s so easy to use has such a big impact on my anxiety attacks but it really does work. Win one for science!

### 5/5 — Very Helpful!

*2020-08-06, version 2.0.0*

PanicMechanic has done a lot to help reduce my anxiety as I feel an attack coming on!

### 1/5 — Subscription service

*2020-08-04, version 2.0.0*

Would have been cool to know before downloading the app that it’s a subscription I have to pay for.... this would have been super awesome for my daily panic attacks but oh well 😔

### 1/5 — Waste of money!

*2020-04-26, version 1.0.1*

This app only records your heart rate. That’s it! I have a free app for that already. I wish I can get my money back.

**Developer response:** Hi Deb! I’m sorry that you didn’t have a good first experience. We would love to talk you through how this app works!
Yes, it tracks heart rate, anxiety levels, triggers, and daily factors (sleep, exercise), and shows you how much time is likely left in your attack. It does seem simple and research shows that learning about your panic response and facing it with guidance allows you to feel in control of your body again and reduces the panic.
We have a tutorial coming soon! Please feel free to email us at customerservice@allostatech.com with any questions.

### 5/5 — Really works!!!

*2020-03-31, version 1.0*

Great friend to have in your pocket to get you through panic attack!
