The user interface needs to be be better optimized for phone usage. If I am trying to start the video, it’s easy to accidentally skip forward in the progress bar unless the video is in fullscreen mode. Additionally, the progress bar and the “Skip ahead 10s” button sometimes advances the video but not the audio. It’s great to pay for an education only to be let down by a horrible app. There’s an overwhelming number of app developers out there- go find better ones. ### 2/5 — Update the app *2025-09-29, version 1.4.2* This app is designed for iPad but doesn’t even support the mini player or split screen features the iPad offers, which makes it pretty useless when watching while taking notes. Also if you close the app for too long and then reopen it will refresh the app which is infuriating when you just want to continue where you left off. Please update with quality of life fixes. The support for downloading presentations & lectures would be very useful also. ### 1/5 — Stopped Working Again *2025-09-12, version 1.4.2* All I get is a white screen, again. Was working fine for a few months and now this again. I have restarted my iPad. I have deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing changes. I can’t even log on. As soon as I open the app it’s just a white screen. I need to use this app to securely record videos in accordance with my school’s policy, and I cannot do that with this level of malfunction. Video not working, audio not working, inability to synch video and audio, crashes, inability to record anything, inability to stop recording - you name the glitch, Panopto has it. Frankly it’s miraculous when anything works as intended. ### 1/5 — Quite bad *2025-02-13, version 1.4.0* Even if I download the videos in advance, sometimes the slides do not show at all when the video is playing, and the issue is intermittent, and I don’t know what triggers it to happen when it does. Sometimes when I play double speed, something goes wrong, like the presenter‘s voice goes up in pitch like a chipmunk, but not always. There are bugs everywhere, I have not cataloged them. The app is not a good experience, it keeps me from learning. ### 1/5 — Terrible and frustrating app *2025-01-27, version 1.4.0* I am a distance education student and unfortunately, my university uses Panopto for recorded lectures. I have had no issues watching my lectures on my laptop, but I always have issues when I am using the app on either my phone or iPad. Sometimes the sound will just randomly go out and you will have to reboot the app or even though it shows you scrubbed forward in the recording the sound will be playing from the very beginning - this is very frustrating because sometimes it will just bring you back to the beginning of the video and then you won’t be able to get back to your spot. There are so many little glitches that happen like that it makes it pretty much unusable. I like to listen to my lectures while I’m driving, especially if I have an exam coming up and need to be utilizing any spare moment for studying, but this app makes it hazardous for me to do so since it is incapable of just playing the lecture without glitching and requiring attention. It always ends up glitching and then I can’t fix it since I’m driving and I lose the opportunity to get some extra academic time in. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing. Truly hope they see all these reviews and fix these issues or I hope my university will drop them and find a different platform to upload lectures. It is truly so bad and has a big impact on my overall experience as an online student. ### 1/5 — The bugs are time-consuming and sometimes make the app unusable *2025-01-17, version 1.4.0* bugs and issues list: 1.) sometimes the video does not play, just shows a black screen. 2.) sometimes the audio begins at the beginning while the video is part way through, i.e out of sync. Audio does not respond to scrubbing or skipping. 3.) Sometimes the video freezes and does not unfreeze, while the audio still plays. 4.) Can’t go fullscreen while in portrait mode; if you want portrait mode, you are forced to hold the phone in landscape. 5.) The UI design is terrible: if you want to skip forward and back, you have a big chance to accidentally jump to a different point in the video. There are no nice double-tap gestures, like Youtube. 6.) Plus, since the video player is not native, there’s no PiP. 7.) The video player takes over the audio engine, so you can’t play music at the same time. In summary, too often I can’t even watch a recording, and when I can, the experience is inferior to any other video player out there. ### 1/5 — Awful. *2025-01-15, version 1.4.0* Whoever made this platform should be subject to lethal injection. ### 3/5 — Needs improvement *2024-12-12, version 1.4.0* I like being able to access my university’s recorded lectures from my mobile device. However, I have a few issues with the app. 1.) button placement and screen sensitivity issues, it may be just my phone needing calibration, but often times when I go to PAUSE the video, the video skips to the middle of the screen as if I was tapping the duration bar. This makes me lose my place in the video. I wish the pause button was further away from the bar. 2.) I would like to see captions in the space underneath the video when the phone is held in profile view. 3.) I would like to be able to manage my folder subscriptions from my phone instead of only the desktop website. 4.) I’ve also had issues with the Audio and video being out of sync when pausing or navigating the video forward or back. ### 1/5 — Sound Issues *2024-12-09, version 1.4.0* The app is glitchy and basically unusable. My school records classes on Panopto. When you play on the app, the sound often doesn’t align. If you reopen a recording you already started watching, the video will open where you left off but the sound will start from the beginning and it’s impossible to realign. This makes the app unusable. Panopto is a tech service. There is no excuse to have a mobile app this bad. The desktop version functions perfectly. Is it just one developer who isn’t great with apps or what? Im not sure if the iPad app version is as buggy, but for iPhone, I am literally having to open and see a video and then if it’s buggy, having to close the WHOLE APP AND HAVING TO OPEN THE VIDEO AGAIN FOR THE SMALL CHANCE OF BEING ABLE TO WATCH A RECORDING WITHOUT ANY BUGS. I hate it so much. I’d rather drink recently used public toilet water than have to use this app ever again. I am willing to say something worse, but I don’t want this comment taken down. The worst app ever created. Feels like it was coded by a disabled blind monkey who typed random codes onto the computer. ### 1/5 — Audio doesn’t match *2026-03-03, version 1.5.4* Every time I open a video the audio resets to the very beginning of the video, even if the video is halfway through. It doesn’t ever reset to the right spot and even if you put it back to the beginning and try to skip ahead the audio still will not match. Doesn’t matter how many times you open and close the app it just never works ### 1/5 — Can’t upload vids *2026-03-01, version 1.5.4* There is no point to this app anymore. It won’t upload vids anymore (iPhone nor iPad), so I have to upload to OneDrive, go to my computer, download the video, upload it to the Panopto site.
