### 4/5 — Works fine with Avonic PTZ

*2023-03-12*

Software works very good. There is just one I would like to have: Saving and reloading a conficguration, I typed in.
Reason: I work in different locations and to reload elder configurations would make it much easier and faster.

### 4/5 — Works perfectly (almost)

*2022-01-02, version 1.1.2*

This app works as expected, for what it does it does it great. The only thing I wish could be added is the ability to see which of the 13 scenes was last selected for each of the 8 cameras - that would be incredibly helpful. We already have colored highlighting for each camera (gray for unselected, green for available/selected, and red for unavailable/offline), so why not add some colors for the scenes? Maybe a dark blue so it’s not too dominating visually.

I guess also helpful would be larger directional buttons for the joystick. The 8 directional buttons are pretty thin and I’m often looking at my camera, not the iPad, as I press the buttons. My finger will drift off the thin bars and suddenly I’m no longer moving the camera.

### 3/5 — Good but with issues.

*2021-04-25, version 1.1.2*

The camera itself is amazing. The software though is buggy, even after the updates.

Pros: simple app and easy to use. Features give you everything you need at your fingertips.

Cons: Regularly will just randomly zoom all the way out then all the way in. Randomly changes focus like really fast, even if focused on a non-moving object. Loses connection to the camera frequently.

This is just a few fixes away from awesome

### 4/5 — Works with Aida x20 NDI

*2021-03-28, version 1.1.2*

I know this app tap the fact it works with the PTZ optics camera, but it also works with the AIda x20 NDI as well. FYI: you will have to change the port. Aida uses 52381.

The reason I didn’t get it five stars… It’s a great little application and it seems to work, but it is a little “plain Jane“ on the UI and I don’t have the ability to see the NDI video stream.

### 3/5 — Could be brilliant, but not yet!

*2021-03-13, version 1.1.2*

First the good: it's rock solid at what it currently does, i.e. providing basic motion control across a number of cameras and enabling pre-set scenes to be stored and recalled. What it doesn't do is allow any control over, or storage of exposure or colour settings. This would be fine, if it somehow talked to the desktop app, which allows adjustment and storage of a whole array of parameters, but it doesn't! This means that if you store exposure, colour and manual focussing settings in pre-sets on the desktop app during pre-production, these are completely ignored by this app, which just defaults to auto-everything. Unless I'm missing something, this means that this app is basically a non-starter for control in any serious context. Can I suggest an 'import pre-sets' function?

### 3/5 — Decent App

*2021-02-07, version 1.1.2*

This is a decent app. I see that it hasn’t been updated in 2 years and that’s pretty sad to me. The one big feature I would like to see added is a preview of the camera shot in the app. We would like the camera person to be able to see what’s going on and not have to look at a different screen. I give it 3 stars overall.

### 4/5 — Great App one suggestion

*2021-01-24, version 1.1.2*

App works great, just as intended. If I can make a couple of suggestions.

Since for now, I only have one camera, it would be great to be able to hide all cameras not in use. Sometimes I bump those slots without noticing and I lose control for a while.

2nd is if I could get an NDI preview window for my NDI cams on the iPad app.

### 4/5 — Good App - Could Use Update

*2021-01-10, version 1.1.2*

This app works well. However I would like to see it get updated to support iPad split screen to make workflows easier.

### 4/5 — Better than the PT-JOY-G3

*2020-12-03, version 1.1.2*

Works really good and way smoother than the controller meant for it. Only thing missing for me is the ability to open and control the OSD menu. Than it’d be perfect!

### 4/5 — No exposure, gain and shutter speed settings

*2020-11-02, version 1.1.2*

The app is great as far as controlling camera and presets, but I wish I could also adjust the gain and exposure from it

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2020-07-24, version 1.1.2*

Very simple to set camera presets and use. Have trained a handful of volunteers and everyone of them are so relieved once they use the app once and see how easy it is. Really want to give it 4 1/2 starts, but can’t give that 1/2 star. The only thing I’d like is if the current preset was in a different color or shaded. Some people get flustered when they can’t remember what the current preset selected is.

### 4/5 — Need Preset Lock.

*2019-10-18, version 1.1.2*

Need preset lock so no one can change it. Also import export settings with preset.

### 1/5 — New update broke things

*2024-08-05*

Before the update, this app was everything I needed for my PTZ camera control. Unfortunately after the new update I am not able to pan anymore, only zoom. I reached out to the developer but I have not heard back. Was hoping for better support for a paid app.

### 1/5 — Used to Work

*2024-06-09*

Recent app update does not work for my camera. Every setting zooms in all the way. I have to use a different app. I’d like my money back.

**Developer response:** I can certainly issue a refund, but I would love a chance to help you resolve your issue. Have you reached out to developer@pantiltzoom.cam for support?

### 1/5 — Does not work with BirdDog PTZs

*2021-06-27*

Just can‘t connect

**Developer response:** The latest version of the app now supports BirdDog cameras using UDP protocol. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

### 1/5 — Missing exposure controls

*2019-05-02, version 1.1.2*

Not very good to have a camera controller that can’t control the exposure

### 1/5 — No video display

*2018-11-02, version 1.1.2*

In my opinion, this app isn’t worth $10. This is just a remote control app. In order to view the video stream you need to have a monitor connected or another app that is capable of viewing the video.

If this app had a built in video feed then I could see charging $10.

### 2/5 — Buggy. Run-away presets

*2021-05-16, version 1.1.2*

Inconsistent preset reliability. Will zoom to infinity at times with any preset. No updates in 4 years? Manual controls work as they should.

### 2/5 — Need ZCam Presets

*2020-12-30, version 1.1.2*

It appears after checking all my settings that the app will not save ZCam zoom and focus settings to a preset because it doesn’t have a pan/tilt position set.

### 2/5 — Is ok.

*2019-12-30, version 1.1.2*

It would be nice if it had video and replaced the web interface like the Linksys app.

### 3/5 — Most recent update

*2024-06-30, version 2.0.0*

So after the layout being the same for many years, the update changed it and took a little while to get used to and I still forget at times. The response of the controls seemed to be good at the beginning, no issues there. Well, now that it’s been a little over a month since the update, the response of the controls have taken a major hit. There’s a delay in getting cameras to move but then once it does, there’s not a lot of control over the speed. It moves slow and then goes into fast mode. It doesn’t gradually increase the speed it moves based on how much I move the joystick. I’ve changed the manual tilt speed and it only affects the fast speed but doesn’t do anything for the gradual increase.

### 3/5 — Pls make it proper control app

*2023-09-12, version 1.1.2*

Ok. Basic ptz control - fine. But! There is no: shutter speed, iris control, white balance. Making this app not fully usable for proper production. The only easy solution is. Run ptz optics original app on PC and have this app on iOS as "joystick" with zoom and focus only. I would have rated 5* but some important functionality is just not there!

Add on to the comment. Last updated 5y ago. :(

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — User for years of PTZ control app

*2026-01-09, version 2.0.0*

Highly recommend PanTiltZoom 2.0. I was an early doctor from 1.0 and have been using it for a few years now without any issues if I do have problems it’s usually related to the camera itself. Highly recommend this app if you’re looking for something to control your cameras. I am a heavy PTZoptics.com user

### 5/5 — perfect!

*2024-10-27*

Very good app! Works great!!

### 5/5 — Works!

*2024-09-06, version 2.0.0*

It is the main app that works for me to control my PTZ cameras. It is sometimes glitchy, but it still does what it’s supposed to do.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-08-08, version 2.0.0*

Exactly what I need for my church live stream

### 5/5 — THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE!!

*2024-06-24, version 2.0.0*

Have been using this app for a while and it was painful with lots of disconnections. Since the update, no more disconnects. And now able to make color corrections! Thank you to whomever made this update.

### 5/5 — Simply the BEST !!!

*2024-05-28, version 2.0.0*

I have been using this app for 3 years now and I must say this new update has saved my life.
Thank you very much.

### 5/5 — This app should cost at least $100

*2022-02-28, version 1.1.2*

It’s true.

### 5/5 — Excellent developer support

*2021-08-21, version 1.1.2*

I have been using the beta for several months now and whenever I have an issue, the developers are extremely quick to respond. While many features are only available in the beta, v1 is still robust and is the only thing that can compete with a hardware controller.

### 5/5 — Works Great

*2020-09-01, version 1.1.2*

This app does everything we need it to do in effectively controlling our cameras over IP.

A couple of ideas for upgrading the software:
- make the current selected preset button highlight when its being used. When you’re switching between multiple cameras sometimes you lose track of which preset you were on.
- a button to put the cameras in standby mode. We’re currently having to use VISCA over IP to put them in standby mode, but if there was a way to implement this into the app that would be awesome.
- slow pan and slow zoom commands. It would be cool if there was a pan right/left button that you could hit that would make the camera automatically move slowly in a direction like a tracking shot. The same function with a slow zoom in or out would be great too. Trying to do those tracking sort of shots by hand can look clunky.

### 5/5 — Just what we needed!

*2019-02-26, version 1.1.2*

Great app for iPhone and iPad, great value and superb customer support from Justin. Thanks!
