This is an exception. Papaya’s business model is, essentially, getting you to enter a payment card to pay some random medical bill, and bury in the terms an automatic subscription to a worthless privacy service. $36 a month they charged me before I caught on. Look online for 100s of complaints like mine. They got VC money from Sequoia and Bessemer. What were they thinking? AVOID ### 1/5 — Scam app *2025-08-28, version 14.37.1* Yall please Don’t use this app they act like they pay your bills and then give a due date to pay them back in reality you don’t the check bounce and your utilities charge an extra fee for a bounce check.dont give them none of your bank information I already told customer service if anything get taken out my bank I’m contacting my lawyer and sueing them. ### 1/5 — Irregular and untrustworthy. Bills are not always paid even when they say they have been paid. *2025-07-31, version 14.35.0* This has become a recurring problem. Papaya will say they’ve paid the bill, even sending out an email confirming they have paid the bill. 10 days later I get a notice saying the bills have not been paid. I check the credit card and they do not show any payments being made. The whole purpose of the app is to make it easier to process payments on time and Papaya has now failed several times over several months. Demand access to our bank account, no way to pay with our hsa, repeatedly said the provider was not in your database even though the bill shows your app as the only way to pay. Couldn’t even check out as a guest. This is the WORST medical bill pay I’ve ever used. Now I have to delete the app that I didn’t want in the first place and delete your link to my checking account. AND I now have to do extra steps to get reimbursed by our HSA.
