So simple. And so brilliant at collaborating. Very hard to summon the typing cursor despite repeated clicks, and the timeline feature is completely unresponsive. The iOS version has some bugs and it’s missing some features. It does not seem that Dropbox has invested much over the past few years. Imagine if they did! Dream on… ### 3/5 — Generally good, dark mode? *2024-04-09* I love that Paper is more structured and formalized than something that’s more like a traditional word processor. The mobile app is capable, but a bit buggy and could really benefit from a dark mode. If there is one, I can’t figure out how to activate it. The main Dropbox app is in dark mode, but paper is not. Cheers! ### 4/5 — I love Paper for all the things it doesn’t do. *2024-03-05* I’ve been using Paper for a long time and I love that it does a few things really well and then just gets out of my way. I love offline mode and syncing, it is great for writing in a park, on a plane, or anywhere else without service. I wish there was 1:1 feature parity between the browser and apps, and I hate the way it tries to organize my files, but otherwise I have few complaints. A solid 4/5 stars. ### 2/5 — Terrible mobile experience *2023-10-30, version 262.2* I’m a big fan of Dropbox paper on desktop, but the app is truly awful. Editing tables is impossible, and if you use it across more than one account switching between them is painfully slow. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Useless if you can’t read small font sizes *2025-08-31, version 262.2* I had to delete it. Because it’s absolutely useless if you can’t read small fonts. Nothing helps. I couldn’t even write a sentence. You can’t decide on font size. There is no way you make it larger. It doesn’t respond to default font settings of your phone. It’s simply useless, for anybody who can’t read small fonts. Don’t bother if your sight is not 10/10 ### 1/5 — App is broken *2025-07-22, version 262.2* Completely unusable. But you haven’t had an update in many years and the app has falling behind. Why are you not investigating in this space. I’d pay for this faster than I’d pay for Netflix or Hulu but Dropbox has abandon Paper and their users. At fundamentally fails across different devices. Supposedly there are issues. I spent hours and hours and hours on call customer service. They are totally unhelpful and in fact, downright rude. I have been researching ways to move from dropbox to box.. I would warn anybody please do not go down the path of using this paper product it’s hopeless. ### 1/5 — Disappearing Documents & Duplicates *2025-04-05, version 262.2* I wrote a document and saved it. When I went back to do some editing, it was completely gone. I tried to add a new document by clicking the plus sign and it made duplicates of the same blank document. When I deleted the second one, it deleted both. It wouldn’t just let me have one. I tried this twice with the same result. It has gradually gotten worse and worse. There were technical help, and the program was better with all the new technology. And, there is no help or support anymore. I used to think it was the best program around. It doesn’t have user friendly features and the program is not as efficient. They seem to have fixed most of the bugs that really annoyed me, so that’s nice. Thanks! ### 5/5 — Paper is my development tool of choice! *2023-07-07, version 262.2* As a content developer for education, I use paper constantly for planning and developing ideas, which eventually end up online in educational websites and resources. I find the flexibility of paper a great asset. I also find the limitations, stop me going off on a tangent with too many font styles and things to consider in other similar programmes ;during the development phase. The linking of websites and content, images and graphics enables me to build ideas, and experiment with different topics and styles, before deciding on a direction and layout for the final content . I have used Paper since it was first introduced and it is my first port of call for every new project. As a business owner I use paper to brainstorm new products and Ideas.
