## What is Paper Gym?

Paper Gym is a workout notebook for the gym, in black and white. Write down your sets, reps and weights, tick them off with a rest timer running, and watch the numbers go up.

Open the app, log today's workout, close it. No account to create, no feed, no ads, nothing asking for your attention. Your workouts stay on your phone.

AT THE GYM
• Start a routine and tick each set as you finish it. The rest timer starts by itself and lets you know when it's time for the next set, even with the app closed.
• Reps and weights start where you left them last time, so you only change what's different today.
• Cardio and holds too: a run or a row with its minutes and distance, a plank that counts down, a pause when you need one.
• Add an exercise mid-workout, or make a new one on the spot.

OR WRITE IT UP AFTERWARDS
• Log a workout in a few taps, today or on another day, from a routine or from scratch, with a note wherever you want one.

SEE YOUR PROGRESS
• Records: beat your best and it's marked the moment you save.
• Every workout compared with the last one like it: volume, time and sets.
• A chart of your heaviest set for every exercise, a six-month consistency map, a weekly goal with its streak, goals for your lifts, and your body weight with its trend.

PLAN YOUR TRAINING
• Routines (up to ten on the free version) and blocks, and a calendar: plan a workout for a day and time, with a reminder.
• Nearly fifty common exercises with photos of the movement, and ready-made routines: full body, push / pull / legs, upper / lower, no equipment. Or make your own, with your own photos and notes.

PAPER GYM PRO: THE APP THINKS FOR YOU
Logging is free, and stays free. Pro adds:
• Progressive overload, worked out for you: what to try today on every exercise, your own rep range and weight step, and a warning when a lift stalls.
• Your estimated one-rep max (1RM) and strength for your body weight, several exercises on one chart, and volume.
• The muscle map: sets per muscle every week, drawn on the body, and push against pull.
• Next week's workouts suggested from your blocks, your routines and the days you train.
• A plate calculator and warm-up sets, unlimited routines, each routine in depth, and nine color themes.
Pro is a subscription (monthly, every three months, every six months or yearly, each with a 14-day free trial) or a one-time purchase that is yours for good.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no cloud sync, no ads. Your workouts are never uploaded. Export everything whenever you like: a backup with your photos that you can import again later, or a spreadsheet.

Works offline, so no signal is needed in the basement gym. Kilograms or pounds, light or dark, and a guided tour of every screen. In English, Spanish, Catalan, French and German.

Paper Gym: a calm place to write down what you lifted.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-27

Apple Health, Apple Watch and home screen widgets.

• Apple Health. Your workouts go to Health with their duration and an estimate of the calories burned, and your body weight goes both ways: a weigh-in in Paper Gym shows in Health, and a weigh-in from a scale or another app shows in Paper Gym. A session you recorded with the Watch’s Workout app is matched to the workout you logged, so Health keeps one session, with your real heart rate and calories. Each of these is a switch in Settings, off until you turn it on; otherwise nothing leaves your phone.
• Apple Watch. During a live workout, the watch shows the set to do with its reps and weight, a Done button, the rest counting down with −15 s / +15 s / skip, and what comes next; it buzzes when the rest ends. The phone keeps the workout; the watch is its remote. Install Paper Gym on the watch from the Watch app.
• Home screen widgets. “Today” shows the workout planned for today with a button to start it, or Live and Log when nothing is planned, and today’s weight; “Weight” shows your latest weigh-in and logs today’s with a tap. Each tap opens the app right where it says. Add them from the home screen: touch and hold, tap +, search Paper Gym.

Plus bug fixes and improvements.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-22

Your workout on the lock screen, and routines from any app.

• Workout on the lock screen. On iPhone, the clock, the set to do with its reps and weight, and the rest timer show on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island: a glance between sets, without unlocking.
• Import routines from any app. Have your routines in another app, a spreadsheet or a note? Share Paper Gym’s template and instructions with an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini…) and import the file it writes back, several routines at once. You see what it adds before anything changes. A routine can also be shared as a file that another phone imports.

Also new:
• Goals: a tab of its own, with goals for a lift, workouts, your streak or your body weight, and the achievements you reach.
• Exercise types: assisted, with added weight, holds, weight and distance, cardio and stretching, each logged its own way, plus the equipment of every exercise.
• Every exercise has a screen with its progress, history and step-by-step instructions, and the library filters by equipment and muscle.
• Warm-up and cool-down: cardio or stretching before and after a routine.
• Routines draw the muscles a session works on the body map.
• A chime when a rest ends, exercise photos in workouts, and several days picked at once on the calendar.

Plus bug fixes and improvements.
