It was simple and easy to understand the features and I honestly didn’t need to pay (staying on the free tier) because I was only using it for coloring. Didn’t heat up my iPad either. I didn’t know that even the free tier had a trial and that when it ended it would restrict even the basic tools like pen sizes unless you pay. Very cash-grabby move on their part. Will be finding a better alternative which honestly sucks. I hope they do better in the future. ### 3/5 — Evernote Lock-in *2026-08-21, version 5.5.10* Redownloaded Paper after a few years away to attempt to access some older notes. The content is all wiped with the migration to Evernote, an app well known for its lock-in. Apparently you can only import one image per page before being prompted to pay $9.99 PER WEEK for the app. I just don’t get it, the only prompt to spend your money is that… you can actually use the app. The subscription doesn’t add anything worthwhile, it just unlocks features that should be free, and ARE free on other apps. I’m not downloading Evernote, but if I want to save my drawings, or make an account, I have to download that useless app. It won’t let you skip the ages long tutorial and the drawing tools aren’t even good. I just want to put my digital art into a digital moving sketchbook. Its just that when I realised that you get 10 pages only, I knew something was up. What’s really ridiculous with apps like color by number or similar apps like that is that there are always ads it’s very annoying, you can barely get one painting done but guaranteed that doesn’t happen with this app. Love this app totally recommend!
