If you know what you’re doing, this app is unparalleled. ### 1/5 — New update broke the app *2025-03-06, version 0.8.11* Yeah exactly what the title says ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time, nothing works *2026-08-02, version 0.8.11* Even after I managed to get my server added (the instructions that the app shows in its “guide” were completely wrong), the errors are endless. “Syncing 0 of 0”, because there’s no library setup, search is completely useless (doesn’t actually search/filter, just shows all results). The only way to actually open a book is from the Continue Reading menu, but no matter which book you select, the chapter list spans ALL BOOKS (chapter 1, chapter 1, chapter 1). Fine, pick a chapter just to get something, but then the app crashes. Forcing my username to be “unknown”. If I tried downloading repo’s they would be blank and it would give me some type of error message. Every single action in this app is over-convoluted, and not explained in the faq. The support for the app is entirely non existent, with you needing to join their discord only to see most help threads being ignored or unsolved, with the actual devs rarely providing help at all. I fought this for an hour before giving up, meanwhile this other komga app i just tried i got running perfectly in 2 minutes. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work even when configured correctly. *2025-11-25, version 0.8.11* I am able to successfully login to my self-hosted Komga server via the bundled extension in the app. However, every attempt to interact with the server after that only results in some kind of JSON Token error that disappears too fast for me to screenshot. All screenshots and instructions that you find will tell you to do this or that in the External Content and External Trackers sections in the settings. There are no such sections in the app. All you can do is go to the Extensions section and edit the one default extension. And even after you enter your private Komga server details, and the tester says your connection works, you still can’t get/see your content in the app. Either the app is broken, or the instructions are incredibly poor, or both. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — I don’t leave reviews easily. *2025-11-21, version 0.8.11* Honestly after the MangaRock purge I didn’t think it would be possible to read manga comfortably. You’ve done it. This app is absolutely fantastic. I honestly haven’t got anything to complain about. It is 100% the most important app I own. Works well with komga if you selfhost. Used it throughout its time on testflight before hitting the appstore, still works well, google where to find extensions/repos before leaving a bad review, my main issue is migrating post update would sometimes break things, cause me to lose my place, honestly fine for what this is used for, not a big deal. It's actually free and works well unlike the alternatives that want you to pay money for extra features or ad removal. ### 5/5 — TLDR; Perfect App for Manga/Manhwa Readers *2025-09-05, version 0.8.11* First off, don’t listen to the 1-star reviews. The app starts off empty, but that’s because YOU as the USER can setup and choose what repos or extensions you’d prefer to get your manga/manwha from. To top it off, you can download everything and use the app with no adds for free. Time used many different adds and sites to digest manga, but nothing tops Paperback. I’ve recommended this app to many of my friends, and they love it. Adding the repos or extensions seemed off putting for me at first, but after LITERALLY five minutes of using my brain and a google search later, I saw how amazing the Paperback truly is. Thank you to the creators and everyone that took the time to make the extensions and whatnot. You all deserve a hug. In order to add extensions look up the INKDEX DISCORD SERVER (formerly netskys basement). All the extensions you will need along with instructions to install them are in that server. Trust me once you get your extensions set up this is THE BEST MANGA/MANWHA READER OUT THERE. ### 5/5 — Don’t listen to 1 Stars (this is the Tachiyomi/Mihon iOS alternative) *2025-04-09, version 0.8.11* This is the BEST MANGA APP on iOS. Be sure to use the discord and the GitHub for Repos. It has all available sources. I’ve been using this app for over 2 years now and it’s hands down the best one out there. I do try other apps every couple months and update them but they’re nothing compared to this. If you do offline downloading. This app uses your phone to judge the speed and not a server limiting your speed. I can download about 100 chapters in 3 minutes.
