### 5/5 — Can There Be A PaperBark Number 2

*2019-05-20, version 1.0.7*

I really enjoyed PaperBark and I thought and at the end where the Wombat finds a safe place at a humans home could carry on. And if there is a PaperBark Number 2 I have a few ideas

The Story Of PaperBark 2

In this story an old man meets the wombat, and then one day the wombat and the old man go for a trip in the woods. And then the wombat thinks it can smell fresh grass. So it scurries or into the woods and gets lost. And at the end they meet each other again.

Just a few ideas

### 5/5 — Beautiful and great mindfulness activity

*2019-02-28, version 1.0.7*

That was such an amazing experience. It’s super calming, the music and Bush sounds and storytellers voice everything was so gorgeous. Perfect mindfulness activity that I’ll be going back to next panic attack to collect bugs and flowers ❤️ I’d give it 100 stars if I could

### 5/5 — Excellent representation of the Australian bush

*2019-02-22, version 1.0.7*

Absolutely fantastic. Goes into great detail as to what parts of Australia smell, look, and sound like. I have cherished memories of being a kid, walking around the bush and hearing the sounds that are heard in this game as well as the climate that gets represented.

### 5/5 — Absolutely beautiful!

*2019-01-27, version 1.0.7*

I’m really surprised by the level of details and flow of this game! Stunning piece of work. I only wish it went for longer! And more like this, pleeaase ;)

### 5/5 — Whimsical and inspiring

*2019-01-26, version 1.0.7*

I’ve been a fan of Jackie French’s wombat series for as long as I can remember. I feel as though the storyline and animated journey throughout this game beautifully compliments her work, and does the Australian Bush justice. Definitely feels like you’re going on a Bush walk. And gosh, is the wombat adorable 💕 Amazing attention to detail, will be recommending to all nature lovers.

### 4/5 — Beautiful game

*2019-01-26, version 1.0.7*

An amazing game with beautiful visuals and immersive sound. But come on guys, enough with the PC BS. A fictional piece of land does not have “traditional owners.” (Even if it is based on the real world.)

### 5/5 — this game is very Good-ilike this game

*2019-01-08*

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 5/5 — So charming, sweet, pleasant

*2018-12-29*

The most pleasant experience I had on my iPad this year. The art and storybook aesthetic are such a delight, and the game really makes me want to teleport to Australia. This was a great escape from the calamity of day to day life (and a great escape from high stress games, which, while I do like those too, it’s nice to recalibrate with something like Paperbark).

### 4/5 — Buggy

*2018-12-18*

When I finished the game it won’t let me open the app again to replay or attempt to find all the bugs and things.

### 5/5 — Gorgeous and Aussie

*2018-11-24, version 1.0.7*

The most beautiful and true to life depiction of the Aussie bush I’ve seen in a video game, a great peaceful game for Australian kids to teach them about some bush animals!

### 4/5 — 귀여움

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2023-02-23*

Have an iPhone 6. Played the game once and was beautiful. Tried to play again and it booted me out. Cannot open again. Tried to uninstall and reinstall and won’t download. Waste of money.

### 1/5 — I don’t have any sound or noise even though all the settings say they are on

*2019-03-08, version 1.0.7*

I can’t get the sound to work.

### 1/5 — Gute Idee, Umsetzung naja

*2018-06-25, version 1.0.5*

### 2/5 — Waste money

*2018-09-14*

Beautiful design. But short story and no expectation.

### 2/5 — Needs improvement

*2018-06-28*

Nice game but needs improvement. Imagine being an animal which, when it wants to go somewhere, does not immediately move in that direction, but turns first to point itself where it wants to go, then starts moving forward. Dumb, right?

Also very annoying to have to tap the screen every 1-2 seconds, because the field of view is so small you can’t see more than a few paces ahead.

Would be a nice, quiet game to relax with, except for these issues.

### 2/5 — Crashes and Conplaints

*2018-06-26, version 1.0.6*

To be brief: the game is adorable, but graphics constantly pull you out when animals walk straight through solid objects. Also, encountered a bug which meant I couldn’t proceed past the 2nd chapter until restart.

### 2/5 — Cute - but broken

*2018-06-23, version 1.0.5*

I don’t normally buy games costing more than £1 on a whim - but wombat.

Yes, it’s extremely beautiful but, I’m afraid that, at the moment, that’s all it’s got going for it. The narrator sounds bored, she emphasises all the wrong words, but at least there’s an option to switch her off.

The premise is very simple, and it’s a bit of a stretch to call this a game, it’s basically an illustrated story with interactive elements. The interactive elements being collecting things, be it food (wombats have to eat a lot because, like the gum leaves that comprise a koala’s entire diet, the plants wombats eat are pretty low on energy, so they must eat constantly. They’re also pretty fibrous, which is why wombats have cube-shaped poos, as that’s the shape of their intestines).

So you waddle around, looking for grub, and every plant you eat is added to a tally at the bottom of the screen and, when you’ve eaten enough, the ‘game’ moves on to the next chapter.

There’s also a sticker album and, every so often you’re given a sticker (this would be an excellent way to teach young children about Australia, but I think nursery and infant school children would find collecting the plants and moving our pudgy little pal beyond their dexterity - I don’t have kids, so I could be wrong about that). The sticker album is the reason the game is horribly broken; early in chapter 2, I was given a wombat sticker which automatically opened the album, as it was in the right place already, I closed the album - and found it was still adhered to our hero (the album is accessed from the game menu (it’s called the ‘library’, but sticker album is a better description), but opening it places it on top of everything else and so there’s no way to try placing the sticker again. Trying to return to the main menu at this point causes the game to crash (I’m playing on a second generation iPad Pro (iOS 11.4) so I’m pretty certain it’s not my device).

I’ve tried restarting the chapter several times and it happens every single time, so it’s a bug. I have emailed Paper House and will update this review - and adjust my rating accordingly - if and when they respond. I have to say I’m somewhat baffled as to how this managed to get past in-house testing, or beta testing (you DID test it didn’t you, PH…?).

I’d like to see an in-game, kid-friendly, encyclopaedia added (there might be one if I’d manage to finish the game and collect all the stickers) and, in my opinion, the controls need to be adapted for little, less dexterous, hands.

(I was going to wait until PH replied, but I thought I’d better warn people off buying until the bugs have been fixed (wombats are strictly herbivorous, so a crack team of possums will need to be assembled for bug-hunting duty).

### 5/5 — So adorable and fun!

*2024-10-12, version 1.0.7*

My absolute favourite animal is the wombat, so as soon as I found out about this game I bought it! It is super cute and fun! It really shows how clever and funny wombats are! Definitely worth more than its selling for! Thank you for this amazing game and experience 9.9224/10

### 5/5 — Inspiring and Wondrous!

*2023-03-09, version 1.0.7*

This game has made me more excited to draw! I love the water colour art style and how the little wombat stumbles around! It’s also super calming!

Overall, great game! You should 100% get it!

### 5/5 — Wombat Therapy

*2022-09-09*

This game is wonderful. The music and sounds, the artwork, all give me a chance to recenter and just be present as I walk with a little wombat. It’s best with earbuds. It may be meant as a fun game for all ages and it works very well on that level, but it also helps me with anxiety and getting out of flashbacks due to PTSD. I don’t usually leave reviews(or pay for apps), but hope the game developers know what a difference the little wombat has made for me.

### 5/5 — AMAZING GAME

*2021-05-15, version 1.0.7*

I am obsessed with wombats so this is perfect for me! It is also a great game for you too! Because it has great graphics, it is a real life experience. You even get to feed & control the wombat!

### 5/5 — Spell bound

*2020-11-28, version 1.0.7*

Truly glorious and wonderful adventure. Lovely.

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2020-11-12, version 1.0.7*

A beautiful experience. I played this with my 4yr old and she loved it. One thing I would like to see added if possible, are labels for the stickers we collect, as I was not familiar with some of the plants.

### 5/5 — It’s such a sweet game!

*2020-07-09, version 1.0.7*

I played this game a lot. Over and over. If you care a lot about nature, I suggest this game for you. The wombat is adorable and very well animated. It really tells a real-life story! I suggest you should make more fantastic games like this! Thanks for making this game real. 😍 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
